What are the gas experts thoughts on the new costco gas?

I would love to be able to use Costco for gas but given the question of quality I do not put it in the Jeep. I have been going to Sunoco but it is not really convenient and it costs more.

Not only would I save money on the actual price but then get an additional % off with the AMEX Costco card

So last time I was at Costco filling the wifes car I saw this

Any thoughts or info as to if they have improved the quality and performance of there gas?

I do know that I am getting very fresh gas from them and all the pumps flow well so it means there filters are pretty clean.

im sure Jim will chime in... but all i can say is, unless you plan on running down the track with it, and as long as its not knocking horribly, why not? i live where 91 is the ONLY thing i can i get and most of it is junk. not much i can really do but since im not racing every other week, its not too big a deal. throw some in the tank then data log and see how much knock u get

I used Costco gas in my Overland (WK2) and saw about 2mpg decrease when running it. The mpg hit easily equaled the cost savings. My Dad's mpg went down too. My Dad's friend cooked too injectors from using it.
So, the money saved isn't worth it for me.

I not speaking of the past as far as Costco gas goes, I know it has been less than the best as far as quality.

I will say they have good rotation so its fresh and the pumps flow well which I've heard means they change the filters frequently.

I'm asking what is the difference with this new announcement? I had heard about this a while back when I was chatting with the gas attendent before that it was coming.

What are they doing differently and whose additives are they using? Are they doing there own or just rebadging shells or chevrons? Does this mean that they are stepping up to be a top tier provider or closer to being one? Or is it the same old crap with a little marketing?

I looked all over and call there corp office in WASHINGTON and found out there warehose buys there gas where they get the best bulk price overall and that is many diff suppliers and add there own additives.

When I lived in Roswell, NM pretty much the only place to get 91 was at Sams club in town. I would see around 5 degree of ST KN when I was doing my tuning. There was one other station in town that I found that sold 91 and it didn't perform much better than the Sams gas. I ran some Torco octane booster in one tank and it did help bring my ST KN down to less than 1 degree most of the time during that tank of gas. I think for best performance stick with the Top Tier gasoline suppliers.

I talked with the driver of a tanker truck dropping off gas at my local Costco. He said that they go with whomever has the cheaper gas at the refinery that day. My Costco uses 90% Shell gas.
