Pricing for Vinyl trim Work???

Hello Fellow SRT8 Owners,

Today I visited a local business that does Vinyl wrapping. I wanted to get the chrome trim delete done for the window trim as well as the front grill inserts of my 2012 SRT8.

I was quoted $250.00 for the window trim and 150.00 for the 7 grill inserts. This seems a bit high to me, especially the window trim quote.

I wonder if this is comparable to what others here have paid to have this work done?

Thanks

I had all my window trim, grill rings, and rear step pad surround done for $100. The shop under estimated the job quite a bit, but honored their price. I think that is a reasonable price.

Or buy the professional film and do it yourself? In watched mine get done and seems really easy with the Oracle films that release trapped air.

Vinyl Durability?

Hey Mongoose,

I wonder how durable this Vinyl stuff is? Do you feel it will hold up to some abuse on the rear step?

BTW, the guy told me that they do a laser scan of the trim and have custom pieces cut. Is this the same way your guy did it?

My first experience with vinyl wrap on a car, but it should hold up just fine. The films usually have a 5 year warranty and the shop should guarantee their work. Having the parts removed and wrapping the vinyl behind the piece would be best, but mine are just laid on top and holding up fine so far. Mine was cut while on the car.

My vinyl was great. 3M product. Run it through the car wash and everything... not a scratch or a peel. Its part of the car!

I think price is a little high. On my 2011 300C I paid $250.00 for window trim, door handles, mirrors, and front and rear bumper trim. This was done by a very reputable shop, not some fly by night guy.

Spent $60 on 3M vinyl wrap and utility knife. Did everything myself and had never done it before, pretty easy to do and should last at least 5 years.

Does anyone know of a good vinyl wrap match to the SRT black chrome wheels? Im looking to wrap the chrome trim that remains on my Alpine. Would a black tinted clear film be available that would create the same effect?

Satin Black Window Trim

I'm having the window trim done on the 28th. I'm going with a satin black which should be very neutral and blend very well on my black 2012 SRT8.

The shop is charging 200.00 for the window trim and the chrome rear step piece. All the pieces are custom cut using a laser scanner, so I'm expecting a perfect job!

I'll post pics when its done.
