That guy clearly turned and made a threatening gesture toward the cop with a weapon. It's common knowledge that you get shot if you try that with cops in our society. 10 shots might seem like a bit much but in that moment you're just trying to save your partner's life from a crazy guy with a hatchet.

Don’t know about any other state but it's most likely the same in any state but here in Ohio during the firearms training portion of the academy we are taught to shoot to “stop the aggression” to protect any civilian not just another officer, its never taught in any Ohio police academy to “shoot to kill” but at the same time it’s known what the outcome will most likely be and in the heat of the moment things escalate and happen so fast that the officer probably didn’t even realize how many rounds he fired until after it was all over.
But the victim did have a deadly weapon and did make an aggressive move with that weapon towards the other officer and officers are not taught how many rounds are too few or too many, the end result was that he did stop the aggression of the suspect to protect the officer.
And I dont think that anyone would think it was unjustified, if he were going towards one of their family members or an innocent child.

I don't believe that they actually shot him. He is handcuffed face down. No blood anywhere. Sorry something doesn't look right but maybe he did really get shot not saying it was wrong. When you swing a pipe bender at a cop u intend to do some harm.

Actually he did get shot, infact he died..its all over the news in LA
i think the cop was right on... i know for a fact police officers here in indiana (half my family are cops) are taught to put 3 in the chest! and i don't know about you guys... but me personally i have always been taught if you pull your gun you better use it... and there will only be one side to that story almost guaranteed if you put three in their chest. but could i see maybe just sicking the dog on the guy then grabbing a hold of him.. yeah maybe! ha but there's not much time to think in that situation... good to see everyone else was kept safe because of that officer's actions

If you are stupid enough to make a threatening gesture to an armed police officer who has repeatedly told you to drop the weapon then you need to be shot. We need these type of cops everywhere. Shoot the f****r, make sure he is immobilized, move on and let it serve as an example to the other douche bags that think they might have a shot at an officer trained to handle a firearm with a crowbar.
