The nostalgic fool that I am, if any of you remember Lee Taylor, he was our local boat racer and water speed record holder. He lived in Downey California, a stones throw from where I grew up...
Lee Taylor and Sammy Miller were rocket power pioneers...
Over 40 years ago, in 1967, the "Hustler" set the world's water speed record of 285.2 mph.
On November 13, 1980, Lee died in his last water speed record run in the Discovery II on Lake Tahoe traveling at 330 mph -- the boat disintegrated and disappeared.
