im surprised the jeep is quicker through the quarter, i figured given the extra power, only 200lbs more weight, and 7 gears the ml63 would put up a 12.9-13.0
glad were still king of the suv hill, quarter mile wise atleast

I'm not. A vehicle's acceleration is comprised by more than horsepower, weight, and transmission.

like?
aero = both are bricks
gearing = have to look into it but iirc the ml63 has gearing as low (or lower) as the srt8 up to its 3rd gear
power curve = again id have to look into it but given the ml63s displacement advantage i would be surprised if it wasn't making more power in more places than our engines
seems to me the ml63 shouldve been faster. seems unlikely AMG would want to play second fiddle to SRT as well.

i am glad were still the quickest, just surprised
I was surprised also because since Mercedes owns jeep i would think that they wouldnt release a car that is $40k or so less than the ML63 and still have it be faster
Then again M-B's are not loaded with plastic, and has a decent paint job. There is also the small matter of resale value, quality, and other items. For the price the Jeep SRT is a decent vehicle. Its a shame I had to buy the Jeep to get the engine.

The SRT is not faster than the ML63, from the video it clearly walks the SRT, the SRT's advantage at the start is it has a 3.73 gear, the heavier ML63 has a 3.45.

In a sense it is faster though. we raced 4 times and i won til we got to about 100mph. that there say is it is faster. From a 20mph roll though the ML63 and the Jeep are about the same til you get around 70-70mph and then the ML63 starts to walk but still in some instances the SRT is faster.
After riding in both cars i think the SRT throws you back in the seat harder at low speeds. But the ML definitely throws you back harder at higher speeds. it a trade off and depends on how you look at it. All in all, in real world driving i think the SRT is the faster car and probably is on the track too since on the track you rarely get about 100 mph. If my friend still has the ML63 when summer rolls around we will go race at Miller Sports Track and see who is faster on the track. Just in case you don't know Miller Sports Track is a new track here that is the largest track in north America i believe... http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/
