I will apologize in advance for the lack of photo quality.

I love my 300C SRT8 and have 23,000 miles on it. Daily driver, been through two winters - West Virginia and Cincinnati which are hilly and heavily salted areas. Just your average ordinary 12 second family car

I seem to be exhibiting the same front brake piston corrosion on the fronts but not on the rears.

Front driver's side is the worst:

Front passenger not as bad but definitely started:

Rear just dirt more than anything and only took one photo as it's representative of the rest, no signs of corrosion but needs to be cleaned:

I did not dis-assemble the fronts further for fear of the worst and because I do not want any car down time right now with the dealer twiddling their thumbs and me renting a car. Is my car currently unsafe to drive with potentially dangerous brakes?

Skeletonizer basically summed up my other questions on the subject.

Oh - and congrats on the Challenger. It's really a "must have" kind of car. Can't wait for the 09's with all the options

Eric

I have a 2007 SRT 8 Charger with just over 20K miles and it just recently started smoking out the tail pipes upon startup.
This is defiantly oil smoke. It doesn't make a difference if the car has set idle for 2 hours or 2 days. The same result on level ground or on a grade.
Sometimes there is no smoke and sometimes it smokes so bad that you cannot even see the back of the car. Very embarrassing to say the least.
I have heard of some people with the same problem. Sounds like bad valve seals to me. Is there a history of this with the 6.1 Hemi's? What do you guys think? What are my options at this point?
Thanks, Mike

Hi guys, I have an '06 Charger SRT-8 ... love it. Was wondering ... on the Mopar ipod kit (Mopar part #82209617) used with the rec nav unit, you lose all your Sirius presets everytime you plug your ipod in or everytime you switch to ipod mode. Will there ever be a software patch or fix available for that?

Coolant Reservoir leakage

Thanks for a great vehicle ('08 JGC SRT8) - any thoughts on how to stop leakage from cap of coolant reservoir - seems like pressure blow out around plastic fill cap - (reservoir leakage not radiator) - not a biggie but makes underhood area messy -

Are there still plans to release those camshafts (and presumably tuning) for the 6.1?

As always, thanks for participating!
While we can't comment on the availability of any future products, the CNC ported heads (P5153349 / P5153350) and camshaft (P5153691) used on the Mopar 392 crate engine are currently available from any Mopar Performance dealer.

I recently took the Jeep on a Road course (April). Not racing, but hard driving. I thought it handled it great. I tried to take it easy on the brakes. I did have a little coolant spray It looked like it was coming from the water pump. But minimal and has been fine since.

I'm considering doing it again in Sept. (4 to 5, 20 min. sessions).

Qu. Can I feel confident that the Jeep can handle this? Do You feel this has been taken into consideration when designing the SRT models? I'd just like your opinion.

Thanks,
Jeff
Well we run every SRT on a race track for 24 hrs at very close to a race pace. 4-5 20 min sessions should be just fine. A lap or so of cool down between sessions would be advisable though.

Is that were the "TRACK RATED" SRT decals originated from?

The fluid your getting is most likely from slosh. The bottle is not under coolant system pressure, just atmosphere. When your running at the race track you might just try lowering the level in the bottle....don't empty it though leave a little in there for engine reserve.

First, thank you so much for the gc srt8! Love it.

I was excited to see this - is this the cam I was promised by someone at last year's dream cruise? that's not my question, I just hope so.

Could you please elaborate on what the heads and the camshaft should each do for us, what gains, sound, etc?

Thanks!
Ron

would driving for 3 months on a bad shift module cause a transmission to go bad?
