Decided to start a thread on this...is it possible to pass emissions on an 08+ with stainless works headers? I know they throw a CEL, so whats the deal with this??
you can turn the CEL off witha tune but then you will not pass becasue it will not show a ready state.
i would say your best hope is slap the plates on another vehicle and drive past the mobil e-test vans a few times in the year that you need an emiisions.
one other thing, when you sell a vehicle in CO, its up to the SELLER to get a valid e-test BEFORE the sale can be completed.
pm murfman, he knows how to space out the o2's, but even that has NOT EVER worked on anything but an 06.
So all you have to do is drive past those vans? I thought there was a facility you had to go to and have the vehicle tested. As you know I'm new to the process up here. So what, if you put out too much crap they snap a pic of your plate as you drive off and notify you for further action? What if a nasty old truck drives by just before or after you? I always thought those vans were just measuring overall smog or something... Live and learn...
I had a used car wen I got up here, and have bought 3 since I got here. But never had one long enough to have to go through this ritual. Does anyone know if JeffCo is a drive-by county? I like that route better than the testing place.
Doubt I'd ever use the wrong addy on my registrations though. Seems like a good way to get in even more trouble... And I'm not really contemplating headers, but who knows. Guess I have a few more years to decide.
hmm maybe I won't have to go to AZ to register it if I use the drive by vans. Good info. I would prefer that anyways because if I put AZ plates on it and drive anywhere near Boulder I am sure it will be keyed or something...
This is about me...not you. :king: Lol....just get the stainless works, and checkout what the lx guys are doing with the o2 deletes. Should work on yours homie...me on the other hand, SCREWED.
I have an 08
and stainless works headers with cats. On my original tune my rear 02 sensors were "desensetized"
And I never had any engine check light.
Now I have the rear 02`s turned off.... and I took out my cats... :worried:
I might have to fix that when emissions come around.... lol
But my point is... I had 1 7/8" SW headers, with highflow cats and my rear 02 sensors WERE NOT turned off... and I never had a engine check light. Maybe this issue can be solved in the tune...Idk
depending on who you use for a tuner, he should be able to get you to pass.. he can make some adjustments to get it to pass. my tuner just had to do it for me with my kooks and high flow cats. I live in ohio, emissions are pretty rough here as well. Id speak with you're tuner and see if they can do anything for you..
