A buddy of mine just got a 2013 Tacoma. He has filled it up 5 times and is only getting 13-14 mpg hand caculated. He has about 800 miles. Two questions, does this sound normal for break in. And can I disconnect my Trinity and return my truck to stock, and use it on his to datalog and moniter it. Thanks!

I have a 2013 Tacoma, 720 miles, my last fill up was 20.0 mpg, both earlier fill ups were 19.5 or so. However, it is 2WD 4 cylinder automatic. Driving was mixed city / highway, I don't baby it. I also don't carry any weight in the bed (except once), I don't have tow pkg. It has the access cab (not the full back double cab).

He has the v-6 so maybe that is why he is getting that kind of economy. It is not supercharged, but that sounds like a good idea.
I could not get the V6 with my configuration, so whichever model he has, it is heavier than mine...and if it is 4WD, that plus the V6 will cause the mpg to take a hit.
I have a 2012 tacoma with the 4x4 package and V6. Supercharged to boot. I am averaging more than 13-14 mpg even with the TRD blower. Is your friend mashing it around all over the place? Did your friend accidentally keep it in 4WD for awhile? That will kill mpg immediately.
