As far as the gate goes it is simply that, a gate. There is a spring holding the valve closed. When the pressure behind the valve exceeds the pressure from the spring, the pressure is vented until the pressure is equal again. A boost controller manages the amount of boost the gate sees, essentially telling the 5lb spring to not open until there are 7lbs. You can run CO2 for the gate as well, but you probably won't be playing with that.
The biggest point of confusion for me surrounding gates is the lack of certainty surrounding sizing. I've heard people say completely contradictory theories to what I've read elsewhere and their setups appear to work very well. With low boost high flow, you want a larger gate, but then the pressure bleeds off too fast and you lag... Or is it the opposite or a combination of the 2? That is why a lot of it is theory, Internet nonsense, and actually gating a system properly. Again, there is the ideal way, a good way and a bad way that still works.

I am new to the FI world do this is all a learning process to me. I'm sure skip can chime in as well as some other experts. I believe we wanna be sitting somewhere in the middle tho
