Looking for member in the Northwest Indiana region. Need help with an issue and I like to try a new set of tires before I by some. My name is John and I live in Crown Point. If anyones lives near my location and may be willing to help let me know.

I am experiencing a small vibration and grinding sound that seems like it comes from underneath my seat. It only happens for a few seconds when I barely give it a little bit of gas goes away after a couple 100 rpms. At WOT or enough throttle to create a down shift it does not occur or crusing or coasting on happens at very ltille trottle. Based on that I would assume its the transfer case. I took it in to my mechanic that specializes in transmissions and he examined it. He checked underneath and all driveshafts and componets are tight. The transfer case oil looked brand new and was filled properly. The only thing he came up with besides having to rebuild the transfer case was to try a new set of tires. He said he had an AWD ford explorer with a similar issue and it was becasue the front tires were different in diameter then the back due to normal wear. He had this circumference gauge he used on my tires with me obseriving and my passenger rear was the smallest out of the 4 and my drivers front was the largest of all 4. The total difference was 1/2" in circumference. He is betting that this is the problem. I would just like to try a set of tires off of someones jeep that does not have this issue and go around the block and see if this eliminates the issue. If it does then I will just purchase some rear tires, if not then I know I need to have th t/c fixed.

are you running the stock goodyears?

If i get my jeep in the next couple weeks. ill swing by there and u can try my tires and see if it solves the problem.

No the stock crapyears are gone, changed to the nitto 420s with the same stock staggered sizes. 255/45 front 285/40 rear

I ran nitto 420's 255/45 front 285/40 rear on both of my Jeep srt's. Never had a issue. Good Luck!
