I was washing my Jeep in the driveway last summer when a neighbor from six houses down the street came over and asked if my Jeep had the 6.1 hemi in it. Of course it did, so I showed him around the vehicle and the interior. He really liked the seats, so I offered to let him sit in it. He remarked 'I ain't gettin' in it, 'less I'm drivin' it!' Well, that never happened!

When I had my lotus, I was filling up one day when a mini van pulled up and a young boy came running out towards the car with mom in hot pursuit. He asked of out was a real lotus, which of course I confirmed as his mom apologized. I asked if he wanted to sit in the drivers seat. He was sooooo excited. Needless to say the whole family got some pics and we chatted for a bit and it was great to see that a car can bring people together. I don't get stopped a much in the Jeep but when it does I came resist chatting cars.

bikes, cars/trucks and guns all good subjects to go on for hours, the jeep is always garaged and hidden so it doesn't get much attention, in the cobalt I usually don't get approached until after I get done running someone , then they want to see how is it that they could not shake or lost to a renta car

I step outside and chat long enough to get a reading on the person and go from there. You can usually figure out pretty quickly if they are polite or potentially a nuisance (or worse).
