x2 when the engine is cool check the torque on the exhaust manifold bolts. On my old 5.7 I had one that loosened up a bit and made a similar ticking noise. Re torqued them all and it was gone.

I just went through this two weeks ago and it was the header gasket that went bad. I was sold that it was a top end/lifter issue, but paid to have the header gasket replaced and that got rid of the noise. Just another victim of aftermarket gaskets for longtube headers going bad. In the end it was $21 in parts and 7 hours in labor to have the gasket replaced.

Definitely sounds like a bad lifter. One of mine made the same noise.

Gave up and brought it to the shop. I'll find out what is wrong with it soon.
Plus, I found that my fan blade is rubbing.
What will go wrong next?

Thanks for your inputs and help. I tried most of the recommended methods with no success.

Cheers!
Jude

Mine just started doing the same thing as yours. I thought it was the driver's side exhaust manifold gasket so I replaced it. No luck. Did you ever find what was wrong with yours?

Ticking noise in engine

I have stored it until I can save the dough to fix it. When we are not sure exactly what it is, we don't know how expensive it could be. I will be brining it to the shop within the next couple of weeks.

Most Likely a lifter is gone bad they are not that much to buy like
300 bucks for lifters whole set and new pushrods there like 2bucks each
And your gonna need 2 head gaskets like 400 in parts and while your there
You might as well do the cam that up to you
