Thump noise after unlocking doors/turning a/c off.

Sometimes when unlocking the Jeep via the remote, it makes a thump/knock noise near the passenger side A pillar. And now, to make matters worse, it's making the same noise when I turn the a/c off. Can't figure out what it is and it's getting annoying!

Any ideas?

Yep, it's the blend door. I had the same thing on my previous 5.7. I didn't want to pull the dash apart to fix it, but it eventually went away.

Taking your dash apart is total BS and doesn't need to be done....

The *pop* sound is definitely coming from the glove box and reading from the posts above, it will most likely be a broken gear. I will get on this tomorrow and report back.

Thanks!

SRT8GIRL12 - I just picked up the replacement gear from the parts department today while I was in for service. The parts guy and I were trying to figure out why your quote would have been so much?? In the assembly diagram, the gear is listed as "not serviced" and the diagram suggests its part of the whole assembly. Is this why your quote was so high? $$$ for entire assembly parts or b/c labor was high? Just curious what drove the price > 1k. Oh, and thanks for the write up in the other thread. I'll give this a shot at some point.

The quote was so high because I was told over and over again that the whole dash had to be taken out to get to this part. Obviously total BS, they just don't want to crawl underneath the glove box I guess. The gear you can buy separately and it literally pulls right off of the actuator itself. I think the gear cost me like $12.

Just remember when putting it BACK in, you have to line up the gear properly. Test if by turning the button on and off and watch it and make sure it lines up properly before putting everything back together.

Right, I noted that part, seems like the only difficult part.

Would it make sense to mark the positioning of the original old base piece before pulling off? Or does that not make sense since its broken and not lined up right any longer??
