Why isn't gasket replacement suggested. Usually when you break a seal of any
engine gasket you replace it. I think that's the cause of my coolant spray the last
couple years, not the radiator cap.

So was there ever a consensus of the Jet 10183 being a bypass or non-bypass thermo? Any major reasons not to run it if its a non-bypass?

Yes this is true. You have to do it with a programmer like the diablosport predator or Trinity.

I bought the jet on ebay, and it has a bypass and comes with a new rubber gasket.

I was thinking of doing this mod but was warned since I live in Colorado where it gets real cold that it was a bad idea and was possibly harmful. Any truth to this cause the summer here is brutal! I want to do this mod but am super concerned, I just picked this truck up a week ago and would sh!t a brick if I damaged it early.
