Well, I got mine and it has the same fitment issue. Not a big deal, but entails me running to the hardware store.
Because of the plastic tab holding the wiring harness on my 2014, I'm going to use a 3" stud with a tiny dab of lock-tited (blue) to the head. Plastic tab next, followed by a nut to within 1/16" of the plastic tab. Then a 2" spacer, Z bracket, lock-washer and a final nut. So the tab won't be compressed and will have a bit of "give", and the Z bracket will be held tightly between the two nuts.
Mounting it to the electrical box to the right would have been the better idea as stated earlier...
