Hello,

I bought a 2006 JGC SRT8 Black about 2 weeks ago brand new. The rims must have had stickers on them; whoever peeled them off, left sticky glue on each rim. Any suggestions on how to get this off of each rim safely?

thanks,
Jeet

Is the glue spot on each rim about an inch square with rounded corners? Thats what mine were like. Probably something to do with when the tires were mounted at the factory.

Every time I cleaned my wheels when I first got the Jeep, before rinsing off the wheel cleaner I would scrape the glue with my fingernail a little bit. After a while they they were all gone. Not exactly the most scientific method, but it was gentle and eventually worked.

Use Goo-Gone or rubbing alcohol

I'm looking to get black wheels for the winter, anyone know where I could get a set?

Thanks,

I don't know abut using goo-gone that is some strong stuff, who knows it could dull the polished wheel finish. If you wanted to use chemicals I'd go with WD40 or the rubbing alcohol, and a 100% cotton detailing cloth. Do NOT use a paper towel, that will scratch.

I used goo gone on my STi when I took the badges off. It didn't hurt the paint one bit and I dumped it on the car.

Tsrt8 I am looking to do the exact same thing for the winter on my jeep. What do you guy's think of stepping down a size for the snow tires.Like putting on a set of 18's or 19's with a heavy duty snow tire.

1) I also use WD40 for gummy residue and bug removal. It's safe. But after you use it, wash, and rinse well.

2) Whatever you decide on with winter rims-- ESPECIALLY if you step down in size, be ABSOLUTELY sure that your offset will work with the calipers, and that you've got enough room to clear the OD of the brake.
