Guys,

I've just gotten my Jeep. So far I have about 800kms on the clock. Ok, that's 500 miles (I realize 95% of people on this forum are likely from the 'States). i've been keeping revs below 4k RPM, with the briefest and very occasional blat up to 5k, but only for a moment.

what is the proper running-in or "breaking-in" period for this engine? there's usually two schools of thought for this-- a) drive it like you stole it; and b) keep it to a particular RPM until a specified odometer reading, before letting her rip.

to be on the safe side, i'm going for option b). but what's the RPM limit, and for how many miles?

thanks all!!!

I believe you are done with the break in. I thought they were saying 300 miles and you are 200 over that. Do you think you have enough cars? What is a Ruf?

Use the search function, and type "break-in" or "break in."

The owner's guide says to vary speeds between 0-300 miles. After 300, put the hammer down!

thanks for the info! ok, i guess i can start enjoying the Jeep then! :D

re: the Ruf, there's a recent article on it from Road and Track. I can't paste the URL here because i get a message saying i can only post links after I've made at least 4 posts, and I'm new here. but you can google "road and track ruf rt12" and its the first or 2nd link that comes out

P.S. sorry, I didn't use the search function... :(
