Just wanted to share this with you guys. I was looking at a used Grand Cherokee Overland today for a winter vehicle at Larchmont Jeep and was speaking to the head General Manager in reference to this 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland. The two of us got B.S. ing about my current vehicle 2008 SRT-8 (Jeep). He wanted to know if I was trading it in (which I am not) and if I was it would be hard for him to consider, due to the SRT-8 Jeep being 2wd plus all the incentives that are out on them.

I kindly informed him that our SRT-8 Jeeps only come in 4wd and there are no incentives on the SRT. His reply was "ok well some are 2wd and I know that there are incentives on them."

At this point, I knew that this was not the dealer for me. It's amazing how these dealers who sell them have no clue as to what SRT-8 Grand Cherokee's are. It's a shame consideing this guy is probably making good money and should know his product inside and out.

Any members in the Larchmont New York area I would advise to stay away from this dealer.

You should have told him you'd pay for a 2wd SRT8, cash up front, if he ordered it on the spot.

Every time I take mine into the dealership for services, everyone that works there just stares at it because they have never seen one (I bought mine in California and drove it out to NY).

Product knowledge is why I got into the business :)

Thats so surprising to hear but yet so common. You would think a jeep dealer would be well informed on the flagship model of their line. I had a jeep salesman ask me if I had a mopar bodykit on mine:eek:

I know that dealership and haggled with them when buying my truck in 9/06. There was no Don in those Championless days and all dealerships were slapping a premium on. Ultimately the manager @ Larchmont Jeep (woman, forget the name) *****ed about my shopping around tactics (sic'ing dealerships on each other in price wars) and tried to make me feel bad (I think she called me cheap?) about not wanting to pay a 3k premium OVER MSRP for the truck.

Go figure..

While signing the papers on mine the finance manager told me all about my "lifetime powertrain warranty." I asked him to look over his paperwork again, then he realized it doesnt apply to the srt line. who knows how many srts he sold and told people they got the lifetime warranty.

the dealer also put in the wrong oil when I got my oil changed. I specificly asked for a srt certified mechanic. I quess he was busy.

It was funny when I took my truck in for service last time. The writer looked out the window and said, "What is that?" I educated him on what it was and he said, "Oh, we've never had one of those come through here." Meanwhile, the first SRT-8 GC I'd ever seen was at his dealership being PDI'd by him, lol. Anyway, they didn't work on my truck there; they sent it to their main store where the Viper tech is and I'm very happy with the results.

If they said anything about life time powertrain I would tell them to make a note of that for my car if something happens to come up. Then at that time you could see him put his foot in his mouth.

I could have had a field day with that clown. Car sales people are bad...too bad really considering they are selling us the second biggest investment we make.

To be a dealer in NY it seem you must be clueless.

I split my time between Manhattan and Westchester (my office is in Dobbs Ferry) and am looking for a GOOD service place in either location. I bought the truck from Central Ave Chrysler in Yonkers. Any rec's as to where to go for service in Westchester would be greatly appreciated.

It's funny I just bought my Certified PreOwned SRT8 Jeep from Larchmont Chrysler Jeep. I had no problems at all between the sales end. They knew about the car and gave me a great deal considering what was out there and all the dealers gouging on the pre owned ones due to the new 2012 models. Hopefully service maintence won't be high on this baby, however I wouldnt mind trading this in next year if theres Great deals on any 2012 leftovers:)

In fairness to this dealership, the date of the thread was four + years ago and I'm betting this was not uncommon for many dealerships back then given the limited production and allocation. The GM should be more familiar though I would think.

I'm also editing the title of this thread as "stay away from" is inflamatory.

Actually I did see a woman there that was a GM for the dealer, she helped me out when my sales guy had to assist another one of his co workers. She did answer a few questions about my Jeep. I dont know it seems very like a very different expierence from me and the other guy. I even recommended them to a relative of mine who's looking for a Limited G/C.
