: Exotic car rental
radduc 08-29-2006, 12:50 PM Guy's I was thinking of starting an Exotic car rental in Scottsdale, A.Z renting lambos,Ferrari's,Porsche's,Bentely's,Ford GT,ect. There is currently on in NY called gotham dream cars and he does very well. How do you think it would do and would you rent a Lambo Gallardo for 1,300 a day or a Murcielago for 1800??Just curious Thanks
insurance is probably insane
radduc 08-29-2006, 01:01 PM Got that covered,I am just trying to see if there would be a demand.
radduc 08-29-2006, 01:06 PM This is exactly what I would like to do. http://www.gothamdreamcars.com/
And Obvioulsy we would have a 600 HP Jeep SRT 8
I've seen a lot of press about such companies lately so there's probably a good deal of demand especially in a place where more affluent people vacation.
TRAINER 08-29-2006, 01:31 PM The guy I sold my bike to knows the guy that owns that place. The warehouse is 10 minutes from my house. Here's a pic. after a poker run they had back in June - squeeky clean!
zen garage 08-29-2006, 01:44 PM if you would like to talk about car rental I would be more than willing to help..i own several budget rent a cars in chicago
This is a buddy of mine's company. I believe he has fun with it, but am not sure the Seattle location is a big money maker.

El Jefe 08-29-2006, 02:11 PM I would definitely come up and check it out!
AaronC 08-29-2006, 03:38 PM There is already an Exotic Car Club in Scottsdale:

radduc 08-29-2006, 04:47 PM I know about them, and they are more of an expensive car club with dues ect.Mt idea would be an $1800 a day and your done. no dues min membership and then you have to pay for the car as well.
JeepSRT 08-29-2006, 04:51 PM I rented a Viper in Newport Beach a couple of years ago. The guy that worked there said they had a steady amount of people coming in. you will also get people that want to test drive a car they are interested in but the dealer wont let them drive them. As for insurance, your insurance is used with a $5000 deductible in this case but I would not want to have that accident on my record with a Lambo or Ferrari.
bikeluver43 08-29-2006, 05:53 PM Sounds like a good idea although I dont know what the demand would be in that area. Id think a place like ft lauderdale or miami would be a safe bet or possibly myrtle beach. Like a previous guy has said, Ive worked for Enterprise for a long time and the way this company is ran is a great model to go by ($9billion in revenue this past year and the biggest rental car company in the US).
zen garage 08-29-2006, 06:02 PM excuse my french, but ***** enterprise. the only thing they will show you is how to steal market share. my current rates are lower than they were in 1985. current weekend rates at enterprise are.....15 freaking dollars per day. how much money is anyone making at 15 bucks per day for a 12 g car?
the daily replacement and leisure business is different than the market you are going after, but at the end of the day, rental is a TOUGH business. Feel free to PM me and I will be happy to give you my # to talk. I might be able to send you to a few friend for fleet help.
ps, if i came off angry in this post, it was the bottle of cabernet!
bikeluver43 08-29-2006, 06:28 PM No offense taken, you actually have it reversed. 90% of Enterprise's business is insurance replacement, not retail. If anything, its budget/avis/hertz who are trying to steal market from Enterprise. Budget has low rates, which they are forced to because Enterprise is within minutes of almost every home in the US, so to be competitive at all you need to lower your rates to where you can barely break even. We make are money with body shops, dealerships, and insurance companys who keep us because the rest make fake promises they can't keep, and don't offer the service Enterprise Demands! And we don't charge 15/day here in my area. Lastly, the competitive edge Enterprise has is that we purchase our vehicles outright and resell them ourselves-you don't. Thats what allows us to get our vehicles for less and charge less (nothing like purchasing over 700,000 cars outright from the big three to get your way when it comes to prices for cars).
NighT ProWLeR 08-29-2006, 06:35 PM There is a company here in La Jolla that rents exotics by the day/week/month ... They have a few ferraris, a gt40, a murcielago, and several other cars ... Rates seem to be considerably higher here though ($1800 will get you a gallardo, the murcielago is not even an option). I grew up in Tucson, and can tell you that I honestly believe there will be a demand for these cars in Scottsdale especially with all the NEW money and development occurring. Wish you all the best of luck ...

zen garage 08-29-2006, 06:35 PM if you do a little research you will find that the chicago suburban market leans towards my company. not to get in a pissing match, but i have been in this business for more years than you have been potty trained. i have a loyal following. no empty promises by your company will sway my shops away from me to you/.
andy may have deeper pockets than me, but i never give up. i relish in that fact that 80% of the BS are mine and 100% of dealers are mine in local area. u can have all the retail you want at 15 buck per day
bikeluver43 08-29-2006, 06:48 PM I'm not located in Chicago, and you obviously have done pretty well for yourself which is admirable. I'm mearly speaking on my company as a whole as I know there are plenty of crappy enterprise branch's. As for my age, thats a pretty petty thing to bring up as a last resort, but its fine. I'm sure I'm doing much better for myself at my age then you were. Lastly, like I said- 90% insurance replacement, retail doesn't mean anything to us. Have a nice rest of your night!

My wife has been in contact with Gotham dream cars. Shes trying to get the Lambo delivered to Mass for my Bday. What a great woman:D The price is closer to 2000 with the delivery charge, and cause its the vert. Definatly a good idea radduc. I'll be in Vegas soon. Better get it goin quick!!!
zen garage 08-30-2006, 08:43 AM radduc....a deal just came across my desk for the new lotus. minimum order is 5, they are repurchase cars depreciated at 300 per month, min holding time 10 months, cap cost 40g.
I would rent more high end cars, but we have a damage cap here that caps the amount of damage a customer pays at 12500, regardless of fault

I live in Scottsdale and I think it would be a great market for an exotic car rental company. Ive wanted to rent a couple times, but all we get are random lower level stuff. The location though is great; Phoenix is now the 5th largest city in the US, and Scottsdale is where most of the money is, in general. I think it would do really, really well.
This is all we really have now. :(

idealrides 09-01-2006, 08:08 PM I've rented exotics in Miami, Vegas, and LA and they all required me to show proof of my own insurance. You see, the rental car insurance provided by a gold visa/amex doesn't cover exotics, so they also do an authorization for ~$5k on your credit card then you're good to go as long as you're at least 25 years old. I know an exotic rental in Boston that measures the tread depth of the rear tires and charges you for the rubber that you use because some of their customers would do burnouts!
Only in the last few years have I seen modified exotics for rent, usually its just some chrome 22's or DVD players but that would be incredible to have a supercharged SRT8 available, I'd fly there just to rent it!
