has anyone seen or heard of an air hood replacement comming out for the jeep?

I haven't heard of one, but my body guy is itching to mold a charger scoop onto a jeep hood for me. Not sure I'm willing to pull the trigger on that one though.

dondula,

Sounds like a swell idea. They are called air scoops. Yes you can get aftermarket ones and have your body guy put it on...

we should bump heads sometime dondula.

No, I do not want the Charger hood. But, I would like a tasteful aftermarket setup.

i like the charger setup.. suttle and classy imo

I like the charger setup too. Of course if molded in, it wouldn't look just like that. With the distinctive eyebrow lines of our jeeps, I think some changes would need to be made to the charger scoop though. I definitely wouldn't want it to be a cut and paste job.

And it would absolutely need to be functional for me to do it.

I found this http://www.hambekcustoms.com/products.php click on jeep grand cherokee and scroll down. Too bad they don't make this for the 05-06 I contacted them to see if this was possible, but I doubt it.

P.S. jordoo it was nice seeing you on the road the other day, but just because you put an srt8 badge on your liberty dosen't mean you have an srt8 ;)

You could pay me - $47,790, the cost of a new SRT8 GC.

DonDula,

Mom said not to waste any more money because both of our libertys are leased and would be foolish spending.

I regret spending my money on those badges... But just because I did that does not give you the right to put a air scoop on the hood of your liberty...

Lets do lunch.

what a sharp color!

Like the rims, not as much as the srt8 rims, but they come 2nd!

I have to say, even tho the scoop is slight, i'm not a fan.

Is that hood custom or stock?
If its aftermarket added, then they did a perfect job on it i must say.

Dula, you should get this setup on your liberty. otherwise ill have to beat you to it! :)

hey,
I am within days of finishing my GC SRT...
just two toned a silver one <I GOT THE COLOR SCHEME FROM THE 300SRT IN HOT RODDING MAG. Ican not wait to share it with everyone. I am posting here because I MADE A NON-FUNCTIONAL RAM AIR HOOD WHICH FOLLOWS THE STOCK HOOD CONTOUR BUT 2-2.5"'s higher at the center two bulges / i will post it today..
PLEASE E-MAIL ME IDKwhy@aol.com .... w/any comments .
YOU WILL PROBABLY NOTICE A LOT OF OTHER SERIOUS MODS--- GIVE ME I FEW DAYS AND I CAN ANSWER ANY MOD QUESTIONS- APPEARANCE OR PERFORMANCE ------- YOU CAN EMAIL QUESTIONS but don't look for response until after holiday.. I will try to answer question on hood, as those are very simple. ALSO >>>>THE HOOD IS FABRICATED ENTIRELY OF ALUMINIUM~ W\ ONLY A SMOOTHING SKIM- I USED THE CURVED SURFACE OF THE FORD LIGHTNING HOOD> IT TOOK TWO HOODS TO GET ENOUGH ALUMINIUM SHEET OF THE CORRECT GAUGE AND THE CONTOUR IS IDENTICAL>>>

Maybe, but that color blue looks too much like painter's tape blue. I'm reserving judgment for when I see better pics. The hood looks like it took someone a ton of work to do and for that fact alone, the guy who made it needs applauded. I'd just like to see it from a distance.

I LOVE the paint scheme. Not crazy about the hood for my own taste, but it's very nicely done! I also LOVE the side exhaust, but I need to see how they compensated for it's absence in the rear. Also, with the work into that paint job, I'd have shaved the chrome door moldings completely.

Obviously its a rendering, however it is going to be how the vehicle looks. I'm not the kind of guy who cares if it's a 'real' SRT or not (which I rememember hearing that this was an SRT to begin with, but I could be wrong. I didn't think GSM made blowers for non-SRT Jeeps).

Not sure Ge2. But I'm guessing if its fiberglass it is possible to cut out those doors. I'd have to find out what my buddy at the body shop would do. Get back to you on that.

It's great that the WK is finally getting the aftermarket support that it deserves I am just puzzled as why the use the styling of the Camaro SS and WS-6 to make a scoop for a Grand Cherokee. I am sure it's easy to swap over something that is already made, but I was hoping for something new.

But, if there is interest in this hood I can contact the dealer and use my site as incentive to get a group buy or atleast a discount. Let me know if this is any interest to any of you gents or ladies :).

Because a lot of the aftermarket is lazy and likes to make minimal changes to existing parts so they can sell them for other vehicles. I have seen these F-body hoods on dodge trucks (1500 & 2500), Neons, Civics, etc...

The first design is clearly a late-model Pontiac W6 and the second is late-model Camaro which borrowed from the 71 Cuda AAR-style (as did the popular SRT design).

I'm somewhat of a purist...seeing a Pontiac or a Plymouth scoop on a Jeep is, well, painful. But as Houston pointed out, the manufacturers simply drop the same dozen or so scoops onto every make and model under the sun. Nothing more amusing than looking at a Toyota Scion TC with a W6 scoop on it.

FYI...Carhoods is a USBody site. They sell under multiple names. Same supplier. I won't comment on their company or products. But I will say read their warranty very carefully.
