: European Tail Lamp Lenses
Sheri'SRT8 08-28-2006, 03:11 PM Does anyone know how to get a pair or European-spec tail lamp lenses for the GC? I think they look a lot better than the all red versions we are stuck with. They would be an easy swap.
If anyone has a connection, or knows how to get them, please share!
Are you talking about the clear Euro-style lens? Or are you saying that the GCs come with different OEM lenses in Europe? The clear ones are all over ebay, but' I'd LOVE to see them if they are OEM stuff, but different from what we have!
idealrides 08-28-2006, 04:25 PM the export version of the WK is known as the "WH" and it has amber direction signals in back as required by some countries.
From the pictures I think I prefer the WK style, but to each his own!

Cool! Thanks for posting that. I'd seen all the aftermarket ones, but had not seen the ones with the amber. Good to know!

Thanks for the pictures. The shot with the "amber" lense (actually clear lense with 3157NA bulb) is the European-spec lense. I like it because it looks a bit different.
The aftermarket lenses ("Altezza" type) just don't do it for me on any car. I'm going to have to explore this a bit.
If any of our forum members in Europe know how to get their hands on these, that would be excellent. Let us know!
BahnBlastR 08-28-2006, 10:28 PM Hey there. If I can get by the DCX/Jeep dealer this week I will look to see if the tails are different. If they are, I will try and post pictures and get some price info for ya.

That would be great! Please let us know what you find out. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!
idealrides 08-29-2006, 12:07 AM bahn, if they have the euro lights on the jeep's at the dealer then all you need to do is go to the parts department and get the part number for each taillight. as long as it's a different number than what we have then there's a damn good chance all we need to do is order them here using those numbers. i did this before with a mercedes and it worked!

If you can't get by a dealer, and if you are so inclined, see if you can see some type of part number on your lenses themselves. If you do, and can pass on that information, that would be great!!
Hans from Sweden 09-07-2006, 04:04 AM I can get the partnumber for the European lenses. I have just order them for my gc srt8.

Thanks Hans. Let us know when you can.:)
MNBob 09-12-2006, 08:51 PM I am sure these are not going to be cheap, but I am a definite candidate for this. I just like the idea of amber turn signals.
Let us know if you come up with anything.

Im on this bandwagon as well. Part numbers would be fabulous to get the ball rolling. Anyone's assistance would be appreciated by all concerned.

Hans, I don't know if you pulled them off and looked at them, or if you went to the dealer for the information, but thank you for the data.

See the earlier replies to this thread and you can see the difference in the non-US spec vehicles. The center segment of the tail lamp is clear to allow an amber bulb to provide turn signal duty.
I have asked a question of a parts vendor related to the availability of the part numbers. When I hear something, I'll report back.

I replaced them myself. The partnumber is the numbers I used when I ordered them. The numbers stands on the pkg.
Hans
Sheri'SRT8 09-27-2006, 10:21 PM With regard to the part numbers, I have checked with a couple of vendors and they cannot order the part numbers in North America.
If any of our fellow forum members that are in Europe could check to see the availability of the lenses and pricing (for the parts and a guestimate of the shipping), there may be some interest. I would be interested.
Please let us know...and thanks in advance.
01rtgurl 10-01-2006, 09:02 PM The people on 2gn.org have been doing this for a while... having people in Germany get european Neon taillights. Find someone in Germany and either have them ship them over OR have them post them on ebay so you can buy them.
(Keep in mind, they might not come with the right connectors. Not sure on the Jeep ones... I know the Neon ones have an extra bulb for the turn signal that is not normally there.)
Good luck!
capitalst 10-10-2006, 07:31 PM My question is would this even work with the new 2007's? From what I can see they switched to a 2 bulb setup rather then a 3 bulb. So my guess is that this wouldn't even work on the new 2007's. What is your thoughts?
idealrides 10-10-2006, 07:41 PM Kevin, you're right, it wouldn't work... unless you used something like THIS (http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000169218/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000169218/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000169218).

That looks about right. I think that DCX cheapened out on the 2007's. I don't think it looks as good. I don't know how they set up the amber signals in the rear of the 2007's. I bet they use the old wiring and taillight assemblies.

charly3282 10-31-2007, 01:42 AM Does Anyone Know Were I Can Buy The European Amber Tailights? Please Help Me Find Them..
DiMisa1977 10-31-2007, 05:59 AM granted, to each his own, but one of the main draws to this car/truck for me is the fact that you really don't have to mod it, it's nice right out of the box (wheels, exhaust, exterior body parts, etc.)
the only think i want to to do to mine (when i get one) would be black out the red lights that are intergrated into the rear bumper and a debadge on the front hood.
I thought the same thing when I bought my rig, and so far I havent touched it all to much, but once you start reading the boards here more and more, you get this bad itch to just MOD the hell out of it. Its a sickness (in a good way) =)

gordy0079 10-31-2007, 08:39 AM I cannot find these JDM Black Altezza tail lights for sail anywhere online. I think they would look good. Does anyone know where I can buy them? Are the tail lights the same on 06, 07, and 08?

There isn't one vehicle on the planet that looks good with aftermarket tails (i.e. Altezza style lights). OEM parts from different regions are a whole different story. But as for the aftermarket segment, they all look like they have been cheaply modded.
Not trying to be a ****. I just don't understand how people don't realize how cheasy some of these mods look. It is personal preference but there is a point where that excuse just doesn't cut it.
They look like a 3 toothed hillbilly living in Arkansa named Cleatus came up with these mods.... Altezza tailights, fender gills/vents, wiper LEDs (don't even get me started on these), poorly placed badges, chrome accesories, grills on any vehicle, high temp HID conversions (8000k plus).. Etc.
Went on a little bit of a rant there but I got an image of Cleatus doing these backyard mods so I had to keep going.

Total agreement on the Altezza. But still NEED to mod! :D
What about these? Anyone ever see what these look like on a GC?
