: Weather Tech Floormats WARNING!!

I purchased and "installed" my weather tech floormats over the weekend. I was driving down on state street in downtown chicago and went to pass a very slowing moving delivery truck. When I punched the gas to pass, the pedal got stuck on the floormat. I was almost inches away from rear ending the car in front of me. BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM!! make sure you test it out when nobody's around.

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Damn man, thats scary. I have never had an issue w/ mine though. You sure you had yours hooked to the little hook thing? My last WRX had all weather mats and it did the same thing, just a little time to break in and a little trimming help. Good luck and be careful.

Wow thanks for the warning. Glad you didn't rear-end anyone. I'm putting mine in for tomorrows t-day drive, it's suppose to rain /dance. I'll make sure they are anchored down.

That happened to me once in my truck with an aftermarket thicker floor matt but with the Weather Techs I dont see how that could happen, are these the Weather Techs you are referring too

Same exact thing happened to me and then to my son. We initially took them out (we do NOT have the molded ones, we have the older heavy rubber ones).

I put them back in after trimming a space around them for the gas pedal, and punching 2 holes that you can't really see and anchoring them via the holes to the seat. i have to undo the attachments to clean them, but it's worth the 20 seconds of time it takes for peace of mind

As I said, we almost had 2 rear enders. these mats need a nubbed underside to prevent sliding - even cheapo Pep boys mats have them - they can be very slippery.

That is scary, about 10 years ago my mom's foot got stuck on the gas pedal of her Jaguar XJ12, she drove into a buiding and did about $55,000 damage to car and building. She was ok and we laugh about it now but it scared the hell out of her.

pretty scary. if you have the floor liner, then I don't think it can happen. if you have the all weather ones, then maybe, as others mentioned above. the only thing with my floor liners is they're damn slippery sometimes when wet :)

Wow is this timely or what. I got my Weather Tech mats
delivered today!!
I can see any this happening with any mat if you really jam
the pedal forcing the bottom edge under the mat. Scary.

i just went out to my truck to look at this... my pedal comes nowhere near getting stuck under my WeatherTech liners? does the OP have the liners or the mats?

EDIT: nevermind, i see in his post that he says he has the older rubber ones

sounds like the rubber ones.

kman - what are you doing standing up in your truck?

Wow - yikes! So far, no such problems to report from my Husky liners.

Hmm I can't see how this would happen with the weathertech molded mats. I specifically went with the Weathertech for that reason. In my old jeep liberty I had big poofy floor mats and I did get the gas stuck a few times.

no i have the rubber floor mats, not the floor liner. it was anchored down, but for some reason it still did stick. I did some cutting and trimming and so far so good. just make sure you guys keep an eye on it because it was not a fun experience. good thing those brembo brakes like to stop!!
