: Full Throttle?

Read the caption to the video. The owner says the SRT8's computer would not allow full throttle becuase the odometer had less than 3,000 miles.

Is this true? Is 3,000 miles needed to release full power? Or was the owner simply thinking of the break-in period?

I believe it will only allow 90% opening until 3000 miles.

A few days ago, my vehicle surpassed the 3k mark. On my way to work, I lethargically (I know, sorry) depressed the pedal, and the beast just exploded. I thought, "Wow, the Hemi is really breaking-in."

If this 3k-computer limiter is true, I have my answer as to why my engine has just awakened.

In six months I've only put 1000 miles on mine. Instead of waiting until 2008 I think I'd rather just buy a couple more jackstands and pull a Ferris Bueller!

How come this is the first anyone's ever heard of this? Sounds odd, completely unprecedented in the industry.

Maybe it is the power of suggestion, but my engine does feel more powerful since crossing the 3k mile mark; maybe more than a 10% increase. Certainly, break-in is responsible for some of this power.

I hope some of our tech gurus can shed some light on this subject.

Who recently passed 3k? What do you think?

There is no hidden bullet in the ECM that comes to life at 3k and gives more power. This has been discussed and is part of the SRT folklore. The SRT engineers also said there is no such thing. Just the engine loosing up, and the power of suggestion.

But hey, if you want to believe that, Santa Claus will be coming to town in a little over 4 months.

I am wishing for a handheld programmer.

Did anyone check there rpms, see if it shifts sooner at 0-3000 miles.I cant seeing the power being different just the rpm speed.I had 01 m3 and the computer didnt allow the rpms to go hi until proper engine temp was reached,to avoid cold engine damage.I dont own a jgc srt8 waiting for 07 delivery, but after my 300 mile run in I will compare engine rpm speeds.I think it can be possible but definately through rpm speed.

I firmly believe there is some type of limiter on all of the Chrysler products. I know that there has been major discussion on the LX forums related to a 7,500 mile break-in throttle limitation.

On my 300C, I definitly felt some changes after that mark. I truly believe there is some truth to the story.

NO TRUTH at all to the throttle "preprogramming", pure MYTH.

Agree....The SRT-* guru from Detroit even mentioned that several times during a chat. But, they do gain a little as they get broken in, but no magical 3,000 mile bullet.

Pure suggestion I believe. Heck, I find that my Jeep is much faster after I get a good night of sleep, it feels slow when I'm tired. Last time I asked about that at the dealership, that they gave me weird looks, hahaha.

Shoot...this thing feels fine to me and i havent floored it once yet...its only got 280miles.... ive given her 3/4 throttle though and she pulls like a train...have a hard time keeping my head from pinning back into the seat. Anyways maybe there was a second shooter on the grassy nole and maybe there is a 3000k magical release of power.... somebody call Moulder and Scully. LMAO!!!!
