: These things are Amazing
larryc7777 11-18-2007, 09:28 AM Before I bought my JGC SRT8, I went for a ride with a guy who owned one. He did a mash-the-gas holeshot and I had a momentary "express elevator drop" feeling in the pit of my stomach. I think that alone is what decided me to consider trading my 03 Cobra for the Jeep when I had the opportunity. I have owned/ridden in MANY very fast cars & bikes during the course of my 45 years of driving. Not one of them(on street tires) ever gave me that "gone" feeling in my stomach.
Today I was out for an early morning ride(under the pretence of getting coffee) and stopped on a long stretch of deserted expressway. The weather was Sunny with temps in the low 40s & low humidity. I nailed it from idle & it again gave me the momentary "gone" feeling in my stomach. Even after almost 2 years of ownership, my GC still gets my attention. The only other thing in my life that can do that after years of familiarity is the Lady I married 25 years ago.:)
carbondave 11-18-2007, 10:37 AM I get the same feeling in my stomach. never had that in a car or bike before. .
grocery gtr 11-18-2007, 11:14 AM :D:Ddo not pick favotites............ride the lady as hard as you ride the jeep;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; in a good way of course. gerald:D
Yes, other than a Viper ride this thing is wicked quick. It's quicker than my '70(in mostly stock form) out of the hole too. I still want faster/quicker though!
GotStroke? 11-18-2007, 12:07 PM Couldn't have said it better myself Larry--that feeling is priceless and still gets me to this day. I also love the look on my passenger's faces after I do a holeshot for the first time.
OurZoo 11-18-2007, 12:41 PM I love nailing it! The GC and my wife :).
SRTLUVR 11-18-2007, 01:52 PM I love nailing it! The GC and my wife :).

HOJeepster 11-18-2007, 05:56 PM I've only had mine for a few months and I'm still not use to how fast this beast is. People look at it like whoa.
PALELLA 11-18-2007, 10:27 PM I love mine too but my "need for speed" is never satisfied. Keep the mods flowin!!
NASCAR 11-18-2007, 10:38 PM Amen to that!!!! Also to compare it to the Audi r8 says ALOT!!!
jayzstang 11-18-2007, 10:41 PM Here's why i like mine.
They look bad ass stock.... beautiful styling, nice chrome 20's, Brembos, nice exhaust, nice interior, stereo
They outright fly (all things considering)
Handle pretty damn well
Responsive/Easy to mod
Cool little mods like abs fuse, airbox mod, brake duct mod, (i'm sure i left out a few)
The fact that i can almost run 12's stock in a 4500lb? brick by pulling a damn fuse then driving home to get the wife and kids to go grocery shopping all while using my adj foot pedals, kids watching the DVD, wife messing with the Navi, heated seats warming my butt, auto-stickin it, checking tire psi from the cabin, chosing from 6 CD's and Satellite, easy in/out seat option, checking the rear view cam when i back up.....did i forget anything:)

kramsay1234 11-19-2007, 08:45 AM Yup. I am going to mash the gas on the way home from work again. Just won't take Yonge Street.
henniab 11-19-2007, 02:04 PM Larry,
Just curious, was it my Jeep that convinced you behind that store in Peoria, Illinois? If so, what have you done to that silver beast lately... You never left the Cobra alone!
bankrman 11-19-2007, 02:25 PM I agree with everything! This is the fastest car I've owned...and I'm giddy like a school girl everytime I go WOT.
Here's the other reason why I love this car:
I stop in to see the wife at work and bring her a coffee...park the truck in a busy parking lot in front of a Starbucks. Come out of Starbucks with my two coffees...and as I'm struggling to open my truck door...a guy walks by with his mouth agape.
He finally says.."what the heck is this??"
I respond, "Its a Jeep".
"A Jeep???" He replies.
"Yes, its an SRT8 model"
"Wow...it looks amazing! Congratulations! Wow....a Jeep"
Walks off shaking his head.
I love this truck!
Inferno SRT8 11-19-2007, 02:51 PM I have had mine since they came out early in 2006 and I can honestly say that I get the same smirk on my face everytime I drive it like it was the first time.
Also there has not been 1 day I have taken it out and someone did not give me a compliment on it, people pull up to me on highways with that look of amazement on there face it really is priceless. there look gets better when I WOT it!!!!!!!!!!!
I am on the same page. This machine is truely awesome! Don't let any one know it's a 0-60 4.9 sec. monster.... just take the kids to soccer practice and keep the secret to yourself :D
Enjoy!

YUP, that would be you. My Cobra was "faster"( it darn well should have been with 540/625 on the bottle), but I've never owned a street performance vehicle that launches like the JGC.
So far I've limited myself to minor mods.....modified Mopar CAI, my own custom exhaust, and self-made oil catch can. I'm waiting not-so-patiently for more tuning options to be released. I would LOVE to install an 8 fogger nozzle, port style NOS system, BUT I want to be able to switch tunes IMMEDIATELY from performance N/A tune to NOS tune. You just can't run a single tune for both N/A & NOS and I don't want to spray every time I go to WOT unless I think it's necessary. Even though the Predator only takes a very short time to load a different stored tune, it's difficult to do that as that new Z06(or Porsche Turbo) is getting on the expressway as you pass his on ramp.
Also, there's some rumblings about a twin screw SC kit being developed. Now THAT would be awesome. I'd have to do some bottom end strengthening but I can only imagine the grunt that the JGC would have with a twin screw, 8 to 1 forged pistons, and 10 psi of boost.
How have you been lately? Still have your fleet of performance vehicles? I lost track of the SVTOA Club guys after getting my JGC.

Agreed... 4.9 is a little off, but we can still keep it our own secret. I just passed the 1,000 mile mark so I'll be doing the stomp and experiencing the thrill first hand!1

I think that is one of the biggest things that gets me. That dumbfounded, did a Jeep just do that, look on my passengers faces! One of my best friends has a turbo'd 350Z. His car does a mid-12 quarter mile...but he says the CG SRT8 takes his breath away on take off, and his car can't do that to him! You gotta love that all wheel drive torque!!!!!
