Someone on the blue forums supposedly had information that Mopar's IPod adapter would be using FM modulation to transfer the audio. This caused a bit of an uproar. While I doubt Mopar would do this, it looks like we have other options.

Here it is on sale. Well, coming soon:

The manufacturer's site, not much info:

Peripheral Electronics is coming out with a CAN bus Ipod kit. I saw somewhere that it is avialable 8/31. It apparently takes the place of either the satellite radio or the rear entertainment package and integrates fully into the car (song names on the radio, steering wheel controls, etc). It is called the "CHYP - Chrysler iPod Interface".

Found more information about 5mins later. I was looking through the 2007 Mopar Jeep accessories catalog (posted on wkjeeps) and saw this:

Commander, Grand Cherokee
2007 2006 9500 iPod Integration Kit - Fully integrated adapter provides FM
bounded transmission of music files through the vehicle’s audio
system. Ipod music file navigation is maintained by the iPod
click wheel control pad.

It looks like they just haven't finished their CAN-bus Ipod integration kit (maybe they are private-labeling the one I mentioned above?) and they are selling this in the interim.

CAN-Bus would be great. Please post the link when the device is ready (and never mention FM connectivity again ;))

everybody on that forum was pissed about the FM part of that kit. Why would we buy mopars when we can do harmon or any other FM? They best get in gear and get something out that we will like.

Edited my first post to add links to the sites (I got my four posts by being an idiot and posting in the wrong forum :) )
