Only had the GCSRT8 for 3 weeks and I foolishly mis-judged distance to a nearby curb when doing a three-point turn. I have scratched the rims to the point it is noticable. What are my options?
1. Buy new RIM - bit extreme!
2. Is there a process whereby RIMs can be machined so that the damage is "machined" out?
3. Could I do it myself? If so, with what? Tools?
Still kicking myself....aaaaarrrghhhh!

#2. Im not sure if the dealership can do it, I think they can though. A friend of mine had a pretty nasty 3" gash on one of his rims and got it "buffed" out. Can't even tell it was damaged in the first place. I dont think it was all that expensive. It wasnt near the price of replacing the rim I know that.
If the dealership cant do it then just stop by a store that sells 20" rims and up and im sure they know someone or have someone that can do it

I got curb rash on my wheels and tried a service called Velvet Touch. These guys know what they are doing. They came to my house jacked the car up put jack stands under and took the wheel back to their shop to fix. 2 days later it looked great and I was back up and running. There web site is www.repairmywheels.com . This service basically covers only Southern California but they might know of a simular company in your area. With new rear rims costing upwards of $1400 this is a great solution.
I went with option #1 for a front wheel, $1250. Not a good time. Although now my girlfriend will never ask to drive again. So that was money well spent in my mind.

i bought a used rim off ebay that had 1 inch of minor curb rash, I sanded it out and polished it with my Dremel in less than 5 minutes and you basically can't tell it's there any more. if it's bad let one of the wheel repair places do it, should cost 100 to 150 plus shipping.
