Today I had Bulletin 21-005-06 done on my Jeep. I had been experiencing the whine/howling noise under acceleration. This Bulletin involved erasing and reprogramming the Four Wheel Drive Condrol Moduel (FDCM). Let me start by saying Wow. With the traction control now in the off position and flat punching it from a dead stop I can now completing spin through 1st gear. It seems as if this is a completely new animal off the line. I don't know how this flash made such a difference in power from first to second. However, it is amazing how it takes off and spins. Feels alot more powerful off the line.
Previous to having this flash done I was not able to spin the tires like this.
If anyone knows how this changed the performance on this please chime in. Comments welcome.
Thanks.

I had the same update done on mine and it feels like it launches harder and firmer than ever before. I was definitely happy to get rid of the howl and get some more oomph.

By the way 2badgn, are you sure you are talking about the correct TSB? That was for SRT8 jeeps built before March 6, 2006. Here is the TSB along with an explanation. http://www.wkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk_2100506.pdf

Its only if you have the symptoms. It seems to be widespread. The dealer told me he had another 08 in last week for the same thing.

Yes this is the one. I know that when these bulletins come out Chrysler is suppose to update and or fix the issues to the vehicles that are being built thereafter. However, I think they overlooked this one as it appears that many of us have this issue on 06-08 models.
