: Srt8 Body Kits??
Hi Guys,
need your advice, i have 06 Grand cherokee, for which am very keen to dress it up with a SRT8 body kit, is this possible, if yes where can i purshase it from, would really appreciate your comments.
Thanks
candyman 08-20-2006, 10:39 AM We SRT8 owners don't like people with reqular Jeeps trying to make them look like SRT8's. It could give us a bad name if someone races you and wins and the other person thinks "gee, I just beat a SRT8, there not so fast".
SilverSRT8 08-20-2006, 11:21 AM Thats great...:D
Black_SRT8 08-20-2006, 11:30 AM If you want your regular GC to look like a SRT8, do not forget to lower it.

Don't speak for everyone. I have no problems with someone dressing up a non-srt to look like one. I know what mine does and is capable and that's good enough for me.
If you want to get the body parts, I'd definitely recommend going oem (not even sure if there are aftermarket kits or not). Check with local dealers for part numbers. Good luck and keep us posted.
appreciate your comments ge2, will get back as soon as i've got something to share..thanks
jms935 08-20-2006, 07:14 PM deen, seriously shouldn't you look into upgrading and trading yours in for the real thing before you spend good money creating an imposter that won't be worth what you spent on it? Just a thought.
jordo9998 08-20-2006, 09:15 PM I agree. I mean, even if you get it to look damn close to a real srt8 which will be a lot of $$ after the fact, it still will never drive like the real thing.
I mean the srt8 gc looks hot, but i bought the car because of the power under the hood.
Also, god knows how much it would be to copy the tail pipes in the center of the bumper... without that, you would be wasting your time if you didn't move on that look first.. Just buy the real thing, OR punk your current GC to look crazy nice in your own way...
the SRT8 is worth the money lease or buy...
I leased mine so I can just go crazy on it then turn it in, in a couple years... I did add the Mopar CAI which is great I must say! :)
The whole thing, including paint, parts, exhaust and install can easily be done for under 5000. If he's already got the jeep, I'm sure 5grand is a whole lot less than it's going to take to get him into an SRT8. To each their own. I say go for it.
And just to get this off my chest, I honestly dig the power of the SRT, but I bought mine because of it's looks and size. I'm in the vast minority of SRT owners, but I'm an appearance guy first and formost.

There is always one in every crowd;)
My friend and I always have hardcore "philosophical" arguments about Horsepower vs. Aesthetics. I say, "Who cares if the car looks good, it is behind me." He says, "It is all about style."
I am an HP fanatic, but I like to find a medium between HP and looks, and the SRT8's are exactly that.
jawsk2 08-20-2006, 11:36 PM I don't mind people pimping it like the srt either, but I don't think you included the rims in that $5,000!
Black_SRT8 08-20-2006, 11:46 PM This thread may have been misconstrued a bit. He never actually said he wanted his GC to look like the SRT8. He simply said he wanted to dress-up his Jeep.
IF Deen does want his GC to look like an SRT8, he has some work to do, but the notion is feasible.
Good point... I did forget about the stock wheels, if he did intend to do those as well.
radduc 08-21-2006, 07:40 AM By the time your done with all the OEM equpiment and the wheels,I am sure it would have been cheper to just trade yours in and buy an SRT

radduc 08-21-2006, 08:43 AM I just had an Idea, for $2,500.00 I will give you my address, you can come over to my house and strip down my truck.Just be gentel.
jordo9998 08-21-2006, 01:30 PM radduc, I hope ur joking about stripping down your srt8 for only 2500...?
This whole thing to make a normal jeep look like an srt8 would be more than $5000.. brembo's, exaust, ground effects... seats... shifter and srt8 drive wheel rims tires ect.... if most is available....
what I think would look sweet is not a srt8 wanna be car... But would be if someone took the GC OverLand, took off all of the badges and put the srt8 rims bumpers exaust ect... I think that would be sweet looking as the overland is very nice with the wood in all inside.
my last car was an 04 overland and I loved it. That used to be the best jeep money could buy...
But Looks do come first to me in most cases when shopping for cars. But I already like the way the jeep GC look, so I got the SRT8 because of the power mostly. I mean I have had 4 of them already...
Mommy Wagon 08-22-2006, 06:55 AM I think that's great, moding is moding. This hobby isn't about what's right or wrong, look how many musclecar clones are running around! It's about doing what you like.
This actually works in our favour, if a factory Jeep G/C dressed up as an SRT8 is beaten in a heads up................. Then they'll be less reluctant to race a real SRT8 and get their A$$ handed to them!
Mod away!
Mr. Hemi, Thanks for the link you provided, i think what i saw there is more or less similar to Mopar kit for the GC, but isn't even close to the Srt8 look..
What i really want is the exterior look like the SRT8, the body and the wheels too if possible, the interior is a complete different ball game, im planning a corbon fiber dashkit, and a big ICE job, with a touch screen radio.. All i need is some info on the body kit and the wheels and if its available.
Thanks

Felt like jumping in here with cudos and bump for WJ Jeep....Deen originally asked a simple question. Of course on most forums you can expect anything from flaming to legit responses. But when a response like WJ's is posted, one requiring that amount of effort, it just shows how good these forums can be, and how many of the members are willing to go to great lengths to help someone. Thanks for making us all look good WJ....
And I hope Deen is appreciative of his response.....
Guys, thanks a million for all your responses, you guys have been great help, im glad that i joined this forum, its been very helpful, thanks again..
Here it is, i've ordered all the parts for my GC, they are on the way, by the time they all reach me will be atleast 3 weeks from now, coz i live in Jordan in the middle east, not lucky enough as you guys to have access to things very fast..
Any way here is what i've done, the front bumper, the side mouldings(rocka mouldings) and the grills of the srt8 are coming from the US..
The rear bumper, exhuast, sport springs and 20"wheels are coming from Germany from a company called startech.. Startech is a company who does all tuning for Chrysler in Europe, i like their styling its pretty neat, check out thir site at www.startech.de.. Love the rear bumper with the exhaust insterts very different and uero looking, cant wait till everything comes together will surely post pics and share withyou guys, hook me up with all your comments. Thanks
Btw,WJ, thanks for the details, and the effort you put into this, really appreciate it, cant wait to post pics of my GC once its all done, just a couple weeks more to go, Thanks again
dreamer92 03-14-2009, 08:24 PM I personally think that someone should take an SRT8 and make it look like a laredo or limited, and when it comes to racing it, the person will be surprised, and if anybody would like to do that let me know and ill trade cuz i have a laredo and wish it would look like an srt8:rolleyes:
BOYCHIKS 03-14-2009, 11:30 PM Well hope your jeep is looking good. You could also consider one more thinggggg ;) ;)

with the money you would be usuing to do all that you could use that $$ to use towards a down payment and use your truck as a trade in to you save money and you got the real thing?? just my 2cents:rolleyes:
JeepTing 04-16-2011, 07:02 PM I Just finished up the exterior of my look a like. I would suggest that you wait for a deal. Keep your eye on ebay and Craigslist for color matched body parts. When it was all said and done I spent 2800 on my conversion.
Do I wish I had the power of the srt8? Hell yes, my previous car was a C5 Corvette. However I needed a car I could lug around the kids and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. I will take my all show and no go for now and see what the future holds. Here is a picture of a stock height srt8 clone...

JeepTing 04-16-2011, 07:13 PM Just realized how old this thread is... ha! Sure he has probably traded in his ride for an srt8 and supercharged it by now.....
Viper pat 04-17-2011, 07:13 AM I just had to get gas in Orlando I can only put super in my Jeep I almost had heart attack 4.69 a gallon. I took a picture of it can't upload it from my I phone but will when I get to my computer. I was going to turbo charge my jeep I think I will wait until Obama gas goes away lol

JeepTing 04-18-2011, 06:00 PM Only the front and rear Jeep logos are on the car.
I dont see any problem with a GC owner dressing up the Jeep to look like the SRT-8. I take it is a compliment.... I also think the Jeep srt-8 looks really good.
There are many other reasons why someone might want to put the srt body kit on the regular GC:
1. A lot of people buy the Jeep srt-8 because of its looks, not necessarily because of the motor. (Probably not many of you guys on this forum though...;) ) The regular GC + a body kit is a MUCH cheaper option and still looks like a very nice ride.
2. Towing. The Jeep srt-8 cant tow as well as the other Jeeps. If you slap on the body kit (Even with the center exhaust, you can hook up the Mopar hitch) you can have a badass looking Jeep that can pull whatever you need.
3. Gas mileage. This is a pretty big issue these days... The v6 Jeep gets MUCH better mileage than the srt-8
4. Insurance. Some people out there have an insane driving record. The insurance company will charge them so much more for the srt Jeep.
I on the other hand went for the Jeep srt-8 because it as a monster with a badass motor. But I understand that other people have different needs they want to get out of their vehicle. Or dont want to spend so much money on buying, Insuring, fueling and maintaining the srt Jeep.
However, I think it is a terrible thing if someone puts the srt-8 body kit on their GC and slaps the "SRT-8" badge on it. Thats just wrong....
LOL I just realized this is ancient......
Viper pat 04-19-2011, 07:11 PM I think its ok to put the badge on it i put a v6 badge on my viper lol
blueidbalito 04-30-2011, 06:12 PM Hello all
i know this is an old Thread and by now everyone has moved on to bigger and better vehicles.
my story if any one cares lol
college student with major debt working 2 jobs. Father is retiring (going back to Russia) and has given me his grand Cherokee 2005 6v. surely beats a bicycle and public transportation.
i was wondering is any one can help me dress my Cherokee to look exterior wise like a ST8
(i know people can say just read the thread, but some of the links are dead).
what i am currently going for is the front, back , side bumpers (ill try to figure things out as i go)
one of my many question is
-will a st8 bumpers fit on a stock 2005 grand Cherokee without modification?
-should i consider a body kit and if so please name some.
-any help or pointing in the right direction can help
thank you in advance
