: How many members are from Europe (UK of particular interest)...

Hi all,

I was told there would only be 200 cars this year for Europe, and 40 or 50 for the UK. From what my contacts tell me at Jeep, not a lot of people are snapping them up yet. Quite a few dealer CEOs/managers are though, and dealers buying them to showcase Jeeps in general.

Did a quick search on the internet (UK only) and hardly anything current being written about them in terms of hard core review or tack testing. There is a piece in autocar magazine which focuses on the 300C SRT8 arriving in the UK in September. There is a small piece with picture about the GCSRT8 but the guy keeps going on about the wallet melting fuel economy. Nobody who buys a GCSRT8 will be concerned about fuel or climate change (in the same way nobody mentions those things when talking about Ferraris) - so why the hell was the guy bring negatives vibes on our GCSRT8 referring to fuel economy/climate just because it was an American car!

The GCSRT8 blows most cars out of the water - and yes there are performance cars such as Porshe and BMW M5s which can out-accelerate a GCSRT8 from 120mph+ but to be honest on the road, that is not a problem - simply because you would loose your license doing that too often on a public road.

Where the GCSRT8 excels is from a standing start, or kick-down on the highway at 70 or 80 to overtake/accelerate away from another car.

So many people have taken time to long-stare my Jeep in supermarket car parks, petrol stations, at lights, etc. I think it's the aggressive front, or the amazing twin pipes at the rear.

Buddy of mine who rallies cars for a living drove it (as he would his rally car), and was very very impressed. He said the GCSRT8 is a real race car (with all the right modifications) and not just an engine upgrade with a loud roar. He threw it around tight winding roads and was impressed such a big vehicle could handle it (2137kg).

It is very hard to maintain the usual driving pattern, always a light touch on the pedals, but every now and again, to let rip - fantastic.

Back to point, as soon as people in the UK get to hear about it, read about it in local magazines, I can see those 40 cars being snapped up pretty quickly...
