: Kill Storys
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 07:13 AM Well went to the local hangout last nite at the Sonic on Bruce B Downs in New tampa. I got a couple races. I ran a 12.70 lightening from a light and got him by 4 cars could not catch me. Then we ran from a 35mph roll and he got me by a car and a half. Then I ran ran a ram air trans am from a roll he got me to but from the hook I got him by three cars and he wasn't catching me. Then I ran a SRT-4 neon from the light I cracked his ass pretty bad also 3-4 cars. Then I ran him from a roll and he held one car on me. Like I said before guys this truck is all about the HOOK. This truck wasn't made or built to be raced from a roll with the 373s and the gearing in the trans. Also the AWD really holds this truck back up stairs.
From now on I only run from a light or flagger non of this goofy **** roll racing they do down here in Florida. In Philly we always raced from a light or Flagger.
radduc 08-17-2006, 07:20 AM I raced an 06 vett the other day from 80 to 145 and we were neck and neck the entire way.:D
AaronC 08-17-2006, 07:24 AM From my other post:
A friend of mine has an 06 BMW M3 CS that he has modded. He has Intake, Exhaust, Pulleys, and a tuned ECU. After watching a movie we went out to a secluded road and ran a few times. As would be expected I got him out of the hole every time. What was unexpected was that he could never gain on me, and I could not gain on him. Whatever distance I got on him out of the hole would not increase or decrease. I was pretty happy about that considering how good M3s are on a roll.
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 07:33 AM It's hard for me to believe you hung with a new Vette from a roll non the less 80 and up. There 3100 pounds and 400hp and areo dynamic. Either you have nitrous or a blower on the truck or this guy was playing with you. That vette will trap around 111 mph and our trucks with suporting mods will turn 105.
Good story though.
Now if you told me cracked his ass from a light I would believe it. :D
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 07:37 AM Yup this truck is sick from a dig. If you can put a couple cars on your challenger it's very hard for them to make up the ground. I fell they would need to have a very low 12sec car to catch this truck from a dig.

radduc 08-17-2006, 07:41 AM The Jeep is not stock.I have Ported and polished Heads as well as the intake,GS Motorsports CAI,Cat back Exhaust,Super Chip,Esp/fan mod with 180 degree thermostat.
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 07:47 AM Nice thats what it would take to run with a new vette from those speeds.
Have you got a time on your truck yet with those nice mods.

radduc 08-17-2006, 07:53 AM I will have this weekend,I am guessing low to mid 12's
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 08:00 AM Good luck and let us know.

I didnt know super chips had a tuner for us??
radduc 08-17-2006, 08:22 AM Yup they got it,I honestly don't think it will do much unless you have mods and run super unleaded
Goldengreek5 08-17-2006, 08:26 AM Didnt see anything on the Superchips website about a tuner for the 6.1. Maybe you mean the Jet chip??
radduc 08-17-2006, 09:08 AM My bad,It is a jet Chip;)
barho 08-17-2006, 09:21 AM Not much of a difficult kill, but fun none-the-less.
I was on my way home from the Eagles preaseson opener last Thursday and after getting on I-95 from Broad Street, I noticed some young punk driving a new Mazda RX8 weaving in and out of traffic just ahead of me. So, I figured, what the heck....I mash the gas and ride right up on his A$$. He precedes to hit the brake real quick (as if to say get off my A$$), so I floor it and change lanes to pass. He obviously tries to floor it to not allow me to pass, but I pass him as if he were standing still:D
Thought I might have gotten the good ole' "stop riding my A$$!" comment as I blew past him, but instead got the look of "what the hell????? and SUV just blew by me????" I think he felt pretty inadequate with his girl sitting right beside him.
Good times ;)
EDIT - Just killed some schmuck from the light driving an 01-03? Mercedes SLK Kompressor. Wasn't even expecting him to try a jump, but he did. Never laughed so loud as I blew past.
This is purely for everyone's info......
Ron, from Superchips, is part of a forum that I moderate. In talking to him he says that it'll take 5000 units sold to make a tuner worthwhile for them. He said that their current stance on SRT tuners is that SRT did such a great job designing our rides that he personally doesn't see them releasing a tuner for our 6.1s. Kinda makes me sad.
AaronC 08-17-2006, 10:32 AM after getting on I-95 from Broad Street,
Nice, I am in RVA too!
barho 08-17-2006, 10:36 AM Nice, I am in RVA too!
I know I am going to hit myself for asking this question once you answer it, but what does RVA stand for?????

barho 08-17-2006, 12:11 PM Richmond Virginia.
I thought that might have been what you meant.
I am in Philadelphia (thus the comment about attending the Eagles preseason game), not Richmond. But, yes, I-95 runs through both our cities ;)

The secret to racing the GC from a roll, if you absolutely HAVE to, is to go from a SLOW roll. As long as the tranny will still kickdown into 1st gear, there aren't many vehicles that have enough power to beat us that can hook up from a slow roll. Once we're rolling beyond the 1st gear speed, we kinda suck from a roll. We're still fast but the extra weight takes it's toll and the AWD becomes a liability.
I've seen several road tests that recorded faster 5 - 60 mph times than 0 - 60 mph times.

Ah, we have a bunch of local teams here, and Broad St is one of the primary streets here, and it is off of I-95. I thought you might live here. :(
GRNENVY 08-17-2006, 07:00 PM actually I just moved to tampa 10 months ago. But yeah born and raised in philly. You may know me then if you street race. I have the blk low 10sec 03cobra that raced down on the blvd ever sunday nite. My license plate said 2003SVT.

markeddy 08-17-2006, 07:22 PM Good stories! The Jeep SRT-8 has really grown on me over the last couple of months. I am really interested in seeing what the new blue for next year will look like.
El Jefe 08-17-2006, 09:40 PM more stories! dont pretend you guys dont scour the roads for another checkmark in the kill book!!!
larryc7777 08-17-2006, 10:35 PM Hey GRNENVY,
Are you on SVT Performance.com forums? What's you ID there?
I just traded my 03 Cobra when I bought the GC.
SRTGR8 08-17-2006, 10:56 PM The other day i beat a taxi off the line who was trying to jump into my lane. I felt so good beating that 1998 Ford Taurus. But hey, it had mods, like interior taxi meter and an RC Radio. Good match. :D :D
split2112 08-18-2006, 12:00 PM I pulled up to the line the other day next to a carreraS...brand new. It was the perfect situation for a little jaunt off the line. So when the light turned green i floored it and took off.
At first, he had no idea we were racing, so i was up on him by like 3 car lengths, then he realized it wasnt a regular JeepGC, so he stepped on it.
What happened next was weird...I saw him speed up, and then all of a sudden a monstrous plume of smoke exploded out of the back of his car and he slowed down... he kept goin, but not fast, so i have no idea what happened...hope he didnt F up his car, it was nice.
omegaman 08-18-2006, 01:43 PM CLK55 AMG. Dead.
kman999 08-18-2006, 03:12 PM These stories are great! Its killing me to wait so long for my 07 to arrive! I just hope I can last the break-in period before I can add my story here!
oooh, about the Carrera S, looks like the dude blew his engine...sad..very sad.
Keep up the slayings...
FireStRT8r 08-19-2006, 09:02 PM I own an 01 M3 Stock. It's the best road car I have ever driven and quick in it's own right. I have raced it with my superbike racer buddy behind the wheel. From the line the GCSRT8 owns it but from a roll I can't catch it and when we hit the twisties I can't manage the autostick well enough to hang with the M3. Maybe we'll get an SMG or DSG in the future and I can put up a real fight.
However, I have beaten a neighbors Turbo Cayenne, stock 996 (dead stop) and SuperCharged Range Rover Sport. I have also hung on the open road with an 06 Vette and beaten the new GTO. Raced another buddy's 05 Viper and surprisingly got the jump on him from a few dead stops....but he eventually tore me up. Also, I tore up some type of mustard yellow mustang (new body style).
Black_SRT8 08-20-2006, 06:08 PM A CR and I were rolling @ 5 mph. Then, he looks at me and guns it; I felt inclined to reciprocate, so I floored it was well. To my surprise, we were neck and neck to 100 mph, and then we both let off the throttle. Every time he shifted, I gained. Either he was a poor driver or he had an inferior bike. Regardless, I was impressed with the nimbleness of the SRT8 GC.
radduc 08-21-2006, 06:51 AM What is a CR?

FireStRT8r 09-26-2006, 01:26 PM LMAO. Ever hear of a Volkswagen Passat W8?
I pulled out of my dealer and this W8 pulls up next to me...I could not immediately distinguish it from a normal Passat. At the light we are side by side and this guy starts gunning his engine. I really thought he was kidding but he was intently watching the light. So I hit it once the light lit. Not much of a race really, I dug and pulled and he was never even close.
So, the real funny part is this; I think those cars cost $40K!?!?!

I had a Mazdaspeed 6 test me during traffic, even going as far to ask me to roll the window down at a stop light and brag that he had 275 hp. When I told him the Jeep had 420, I think his face dropped. Don't these peopel do their homework before looking for kills?

It's a great car though,VW has come a LONG way from the car it use to be.You gotta give them credit
SRTGR8 09-26-2006, 03:48 PM I was behind a red Integra GS-R (heavily modded/exhaust/carbonfibre) it looked like it was straight out of Fast and the Furious. Anyways i was behind him at a red light, he looks me in the eyes in his side mirror, then guns it when the light turns green. So I also did floored it, changed lanes, and smiled as I flew by.
Black_SRT8 09-26-2006, 05:48 PM 3000 GT. It was not even close - 3 lengths by 60 mph.

I owned a Jetta once and the experience was awful.
I will say that their Audi group is putting out some amazing cars. I drove the Audi W12 and it was a monster. That, or the RS4 or RS6, will likely be my next car.

So you didn't back off when he mentioned the mighty 275 bhp?! Ouch.
Mmm, breakfast... :D
Speaking of homework, just looked up a Ferrari Testarossa, 0-60 mph in 5.2-6.2 seconds, and the lower might be a perfect launch! I'd try my hand. ;)
radduc 09-27-2006, 07:53 AM It's amazing how the 0 to 60 times have improved soo much over just the last5 years.Go back 10 years and 6 second 0 to 60 was hauling LOL amazing
Goldengreek5 09-27-2006, 08:30 AM Here's a good one. Goin down 95 in Mass, and I see a srt4 in front of me driving kinda slow. As I pull by him, I notice he has only one exhaust pipe, and the rear of his car is really jacked up high. So I get in front of him, and see a huge front mount intercooler. I'm keepin the jeep steady at 60 waiting for him to pull up next to me. I see him playing with something on his passenger seat. Finally after about 5 minutes he pulled next to me, and all I could hear was his turbo, so I stomp on it, and this thing blows by me like I was standin still!! The sound of this thing was crazy. So the guy slows down, and I ask him what he's done, he said GT35r, which is basically a stage 4+ turbo:eek: That thing screwed. He had a laptop on the passenger seat and was tuning it. The thing sounded like a highly modded Toyota Supra.
radduc 09-27-2006, 08:52 AM Well if your gonna get beat badly it might as well be by it cousin.
justyli 09-27-2006, 10:49 AM RS4 & RS6 = :)
There will be out a completely new RS6 soon.
srt-8-inferno 09-27-2006, 08:38 PM Well, I finally, after owning the Beast for 6 weeks... I have my first worthy kill. I had raced an 05 Infinity FX35 which was my first minor kill while letting him take me at the light. BUT... tonight, I raced another friend of mine in a 06 Mustang GT with CAI and chip. The first one I started behind him at a light, passed the car in the left lane, switched over and gained on him to be even before both letting off. The second was from a light, side by side. Had him from the dig and pulled away to about 3 car lengths. He's AMAZED that the beast is that quick.:D :D
Dr.Steve 10-10-2006, 09:04 AM It took some time, but I FINALLY got next to my buddy and his 2004 manual trans M3 this past friday night after a wedding down the jersey shore. . . I mashed it in full auto at the green light and instantly had him by a 1/4 car length, he pulled about even 3 lengths out, then I clearly pulled ahead, ending up 3 lengths ahead at 110mph and laughing the whole way. . . when we pulled onto the parkway and I called to ask him how it felt being beat by a truck, all he could do was whine that he had two less cylinders and that he chirped the tires in 1st and 2nd. . . a very satisfying kill, RIP M3
I raced E39 M5 few days ago, he passed me at traffic light and he floored it, I had few cars in front of me, so I could not floor it to. After I passed the cars in front of me he had already slowed down and he was waiting for me. The traffic was heavy and I wanted to play safe, so I just followed him. Both of us mad a right turn. He floored it as he was finishing the turn and I did the same. He did get a head start but within roughly 2 seconds I was able to pass him and keep at least one car length up to 90. we stopped for the traffic light, I power brake to 1800 RPM and we jumped once the light turned green, I jumped by at least 2 car length and by the time I have reached 100, I was at least 3 to 4 car length ahead of him. :)
Dr.Steve 10-11-2006, 08:29 AM they just can't keep up with us, can they my friend???
wanalooz 10-12-2006, 06:52 AM Its so fun, no one thinks your fast till they see your tail lights, I have a 06 Z06 and if I'm heading into town (lots of stop lights) I perfer the jeep. If I had to list all the kills from light to light it would just take up to much time.

boomer 11-12-2006, 01:52 AM has anyone raced a worthy rice rocket (supra, rx-7,350z, wrx,etc..) besides the integra gsr? my plates will say "rice etr" when i take delivery at the end of this month( i am asian american, but american first). i was just wondering.
NateO 11-13-2006, 06:25 PM Not here, but I reeled in a STI that tried to run away from me, on a pretty curvy stretch of road that I treat as 1-lane (left) for all practical purposes.
I have a buddy with a well-modded WRX (he guesses STI-type speed) and the amount of b.s. coming out of his mouth is pretty incredible... He won't run with me, anywhere, anyhow... And while he concedes I'd probably run away form him on a straight-line run, he insists he would 'smoke me' in the 'bendies'. Same b.s. from my buddy with an Evo...
My response to that crap is: 'Erm, boys, go find the most non-linear stretch of road you can with two lanes, and we will try it.' I'm not saying they're wrong, for certain, we haven't tried it... But I'd rather just give it a go vs. discussing such conjecture and victories, and whatnot...
BASELINE 11-15-2006, 07:10 AM Still looking for the RED GCSRT-8 I saw in Stamford CT....
Very cool car....would love one as a daily driver! *props*
SRTGR8 11-24-2006, 02:09 AM CLS500, ML55 AMG, MiniCooperS (haha), BoxsterS, 350z (favorite kill), RX8, (also fun),
people don't realize what they're up against. They believe just because something is small, japanese, and two-seats, it can beat an SUV, maybe later.
One thing i wanted to ask about, i was driving and noticed a Cadillac CTS behind me speeding up on my right side, then saw the low lights and realized its probably a CTS-V. It was coming up fast, so I stomped the pedal, (he already had the gun on me) so i was catching up but was amazed at how fast they are. They'd outrun my GC-SRT8 heads up wouldn't they? A car that small with 400hp, same torque? Anyways, I'd like to find it again.
Keep the stories coming.

Everything I've heard about the CTS-v is pretty impressive. I don't think the GC SRT8 can out run one of those things but it might be close. I wouldn't be embarresed if I got beat by a car like that anyway. Motor Trend has it hitting 60 in about 5 sec and 13.4 in the 1/4 which I know is close to our SRT8's but eventually weight and the laws of physics will kick in and the CTS I believe would start to pull on the Jeep. Besides I've seen better times for the CTS-v published elsewhere. FYI, there's a track version called the CTS-vR. This thing smokes! 0-60 in 3.3 sec and the 1/4 happens in 11.1!! Too bad it's not in production.
Black_SRT8 03-11-2007, 04:07 PM Brand new Chevy 2500 HD Diesel.
He was slow to pull into traffic, so I passed him WOT. He lines up to me at the next light and I just get this feeling he is going to gun it. Well he did, plumes of black smoke and all, but within 1000 feet I had about 10 lengths.
The reason I post this is because the guy actually thought he was going to smoke me - people are ignorant when it comes to the SRT8 Jeep.
havent had many races at all, very odd. in my 5.9 people tested me all the time, now they just gawk
did pull on my friends lightly modded evo at freeway speeds which suprised me and i smoked a modded grand national (said he figured he was good for a 13.0 with his current tune but has done 11s with race gas and slicks) from a dig and when we went from a 40 roll i kept a few feet on him

cts-vs are notoriously hard to launch so from a dig o n the street youre nearly garaunteed to pull one and id wager you'd keep the lead through 100~
very nice cars though, the new one is supposed to get the 505hp z06 plant possiby bumped to 550hp

Me too, so when the 2500 HD pulls up I get kind of excited, lol. I always see worthy opponents in oncoming lanes :(

me as well brother
i may have had some races and just not known though, i tend to floor it from every stop light (why else own a 12mpg 420hp 0-60 in 4.5s jeep?) ;)
kramsay1234 03-11-2007, 04:39 PM I was wanting to find out how we would do from a dig against a late model vette. pulled into drug store and there is this vette idling this ratty grumbling noise. I get out of the truck and notice 4 corsa pipes side by side coming out the back. Sounded like headers as well. When I came out of the store I was tempted to ask him if he wanted to run it, but I am not out looking for a race. Was really curious what would have happened though. Guy looked like a prick though.

In a light to light scenario I think that the GC would get the vette (if only because of the dig) every time. I have had a couple of Z06s ('01 and '03) and they were not easy cars to launch. If the road temps were too low (50 degrees) I'd break traction in the "top" of first all of the time not even from a hard launch. Once you tagged 2nd gear, it is a whole new ball game though and the the Vettes will reel us in pretty quickly (LS6 or LS2).

kramsay1234 03-11-2007, 09:38 PM Good to know. This guy was not even a Z06. I will wait for someone wanting to play though, but at least I know I likely could have put him in his place. He spun his tires leaving the Drug Store parking space and then let it go when he got onto the street. I was tempted to follow him and then reel him in at a light.

maxxjeep 03-16-2007, 01:24 PM MY FIRST RANDOM KILL!!
(aka not against a friend or acquaintance)
So there I am, last day of classes before spring break today, and I am leaving campus. At the stop light on campus still and a gold firebird pulls up. He was scopin me out, nervouse/ excited i look back. When the light turned green I hit it, but he didn't go...at first, then he layed on it hard. He knew what I wanted...
So we get to the next light, roll down the windows, greet, I tell him his seemed pretty quick, he seemed happy with it.
Light goes green. Exhausts start boomer. LEFT HIM IN THE DUST!!
I heard him screatch in 2nd and a bit in 3rd (as he was behind me)
at about 110 I hit the breaks, and my heart was beating, what a rush.
So we have a quick chat, and he just seemed overall confused HAHA
I WANT MORE!
GodfatherSRT8 03-16-2007, 01:49 PM I had one this morning coming to work. Pull up to the light and a Dodge Magnum R/T is sitting there. I'm thinking this guy knows what an SRT is and he isnt going to mess with me. Light turns green and he punches it, while i was laying low. He is about a car infront of me, when I decided to teach him a lesson. Pulled on him so fast and past him at about 65. He just gave up. Not much of a kill, but sometimes you just gotta let them know SRT is top dog.

Str8Srt8 08-17-2007, 02:08 AM I passed about 12 Corvettes in a rally of different years. They were pretty tight in the lane, so when the opp arrived I punched it and started flying by them. 2 of them pulled out into my lane and tried to tail me, both 06's. I gained about 1 car up to 140 before I eased off.
I get a lot of people that tail me perhaps in respect and in hi hopes they'll get to watch a race between the SRt8 and something worthy. I gave a couple of tailers a nice show when a Supra wanted some action and I smoked him from 70 to 130. It had some mods on it but was first gen stuff.
A young woman in a Santa Fe loaded with people kept up with me to 115 mph, but I was playing with her :)
I'm surrounded by Porsche's , BMW's, Audi's and obviously I don't get out to play much. I liked reading your stories, keep posting .
ML SRT8 08-17-2007, 07:30 AM Still looking for the RED GCSRT-8 I saw in Stamford CT....
Very cool car....would love one as a daily driver! *props*
That would be me, I have the only Inferno Red in town and I see very few of them around. My kill stories are too many to detail. If you want to catch up and go for a ride PM me. I got the sense that you dont have a GCSRT8. Thanks for the Very Cool Car comment
Untouchable 08-17-2007, 08:03 AM well, I had a race last night and it almost killed me...not from driving but my wife was in the car and I could swear the devil was looking at me through those eyes.
anyways, we are getting on the road via an on ramp and are at the light when I see some a porsche with after market HIDs behind me something told me he would gun on the highway. I take off and watch him come up in the back. then he guns it. I was doing about 60 when he went by me, I gunned it and we did some intense maneuvers up till 130 when I was still on his @ss, but then he made a wrong read and got stuck behind a slow car. I slow a glimmer of an opening in the far right lane and took it and left him. After that point he wouldnt pass me even when I slowed down and eventually pulled off. Sorry,.. its a Jeep
