I have 980 miles on the Jeep after 3 months. I finally pegged it today. G*d Damn its quick. But I did notice about a 1 second delay between the pedal being floored and the car doing anything. For about a second nothing happened and then she was gone. Is this normal with an electronic throttle or is this my stock air filter proving its worth?

It could have been a glitch. Try again and report back.

I have Zero lag on my jeep, the second you hit it she's gone.I have done several mods though.Ported and polished Heads and Intake,CAI,ESP/Fan mod with 180 deg thermostat,Ehxaust, and super chip. All mods are from GS Motorsports except the chip.

I don't really have a hesitation but overall the transmission in these things shifts EXACTLY like my Mercedes does (sluggish to respond most of the time), it feels like it shifts slower and retards timing more at WOT then at almost WOT. Actually, it shifts like a BMW SMG in mode 5 at 3/4 throttle, at WOT it shifts like my grandmother with a huge pause between gears. I really think the best mod for these Jeeps will be software that gets rid of (or lessens) torque management.

its the computer...especially if its the first time you've floored it. It took that second to realize: "****! I need to kick in all of the cylinders!".

It shouldnt happen as much once you start doing it more often.

Yeah, I kinda have the same problem with mine in a way.

Lets say i'm going about 35 MPH or so and i'm looking to hit the gas in the G spot area that the car respondes well to. I think you all know what i'm talking about... But at times like tonight, I will punch it and it has a slow take off but gets faster ass the car increases in speed, but does not have that rocket take off, like I punched the gas and cought the engine at the wrong time..

anyone have this problem? is it normal?

What you describe is exactly why I referred to the tranny as Mercedes-like in my post. Additionally, it's slow to respond when shifting from reverse to drive ala MB. I'm used to it since it's mostly what I drive when I'm not driving the Jeep. That was hard for me to admit since I'm a BMW guy at heart :)

I really think alot of this can be fixed with software.

Sometimes it goes instantaneous for me. At other's there is a slight lag. I think it is a matter of the computer determining if you really mean to mash the gas depending on various conditions. As for the tranny acting like an MB comment, I thought I read that this was an MB trans. Or am I miss remembering?

The slightest amount of hesitation will lag the transmission. Either put the throttle to the floor 100%, or do not do it at all. 80% or even 90% throttle will produce a slow transmission reaction time.

Thats a great tip, I will give that a shot and see if it helps any?

I had not heard that online but my Mercedes tech thinks it is after crawling under to take a look. If it isn't then I'm guessing the Mercedes guys are influencing the software on the vehicle.

The SRT8 GC uses the AMG tranny that has been around for years. It is capable of handling 600 hp.

Has anyone heard of a chip or computer tune to upgrade shifting?

Has happened to me a couple of times, but usually right after I put it in Drive from reverse after doing a u-turn.
