So I was headed up to Tulsa from Dallas to go to a family function, and I was just cruising along at 90 or so on the Indian Creek Turnpike... I came up on a group of cars and one of them happened to be an M3. I cruise on by, and about 5 minutes later he comes up and passes me, which I just can't let happen. I got up next to him and he wanted to run of course. In the back of my mind all I could think of was that I was at a disadvantage in this situation because I was already going 80 or so. However, after both of us got on it, I actually kept a nose on him and pulled on him up until about 140 when he started taking over (I blame wind resistance). Afterwards he pulled up next to me and gave the hand signs for "4-2-0" and a thumbs up and I just nodded and smiled.

To make it sweeter, I pull over to grab a bottle of water at the end of the turnpike, and I get back on the road. About 2 miles up the road, he is pulled on the side of the road with a Oklahoma Statie behind him.... I felt bad but he should have had a better radar detector...

I consider it a kill.. some may not, but it was definately fun. Enough ranting, i had to tell someone.

Congrats to "Tam", and I agree it would be a good kill, and it must have been a nice feeling. I own both, and have had them in excess of 150+. Admittedly my M has intake, exhaust and software, but at 80mph, in third I'm only a little over 6000rpm. Take that to about 8200 and 105, slam a shift and in 4th I'm back up to about 140-145 at 8200 again. Best powerband on this thing is about 6000-8000.

I am not saying he didn't do it by any means, but I am sure I would have smoked my Jeep at those speeds if I was able to be driving both at the same time. The brick has to do some real pushing at over 130 or so.

Regardless it is all good, and it still amazes me what this Jeep can do on many levels. What a blast to drive. :D

I just sold my 2006 m3 6 speed not long ago and yes I agree bigtime with you on this. Powershifting from 3rd to fourth was awesome. Engine loves to rev. Its funny because when I drive the Jeep it remines me at times alot of the M3. Wait till next year when the new M arrives with the new motor and then look out I will be trading the Jeep back in.:D

It was an E46. When I was getting my new car, my choice was between an E46 and the Jeep... it was a hard choice, but I am happy with the one I made. I have driven M3s at and they do seem to have more get up and go at high speeds, but it still happened.

I wish I could race my Jeep and Bimmer.... can't figure out a way to drive both cars at once :D

E92 would whoop its ass from 80 though....

Hey Tam, don't get me wrong, I am not disagreeing with you and I'm sure it happened. Both very different, but fun vehicles with awesome performance.

I almost got rid of my 05 3, but so far just can't bring myself to do it. Off the line you'll kill the average M3/driver too. It takes a lot of practice to launch that car correctly with minimum wheel spin and no bog. With our Jeeps, you know all we gotta do.:):)

Enjoy.:D

Cool story man, there will always be a special place in my heart for an M3! I'd love to someday be able to afford some kind of Jeep SRT8 or high performance SUV and an M3. It'd be a match made in heaven .

Good run, but what does 4-2-0 mean?

I think he is talking about horsepower.

I am pretty sure he was refering to Horsepower, not the favorite day of the year for certain individuals. Either way he is cool in my book.
