I didn't know the camera sensed the difference between AC and DC powered lights. Thats pretty nifty, I thought it sensed different lights by color alone.

The only issue I have with the Smart Beam system is when following at a distance they occasionally do not "sense" the tail lights of the car ahead & after an approaching vehicle passes will cut to high beams. The redeeming factor in my case is that I'm usually gaining quickly enough on whoever I'm behind that they sense them & return to Low beams before I have to manually override them, LOL.

Yes on my long highway ride from the dealer the Smart Beams did not seem so "Smart". A couple of times they stayed on with traffic in the other lane. Once time they came on and an 18 Wheeler in the other lane thought I flashed him b/c he had his brights on (which he did not). I agree with the tail light scenario as well. Just too much of a pain for me so I disabled them.
I would have rather had more R&D go to the Rear Camera instead of Smart Headlights...

I just came back from a lengthy trip this evening. Remembering this thread, I paid close attention to the Smart Beam System. Street lights absolutely resulted in low beams, as well as the light reflected from highway signs that came from my own headlamps. I think the system is amazing, and my peers are wowed by the technology, but I feel there are some kinks to work out.
If this technology is indicative of things to come in the future, I cannot wait :)
