Quadman from the UK here....

Just received my UK edition of the GC SRT8 with number plate E8 SRT.
In a word, love it. I live in a place called Peterborough, right next to a 8 lane (both directions) 15 mile stretch of straight motorway (highway in US speak). Not too many police and away from peak hours, it is quiet.

Got up to 130mph before bottling out - for fear of being caught speeding :-)

Only 200 miles on the clock, and there was no manual with the car. Any idea how I should drive the first 1000+ miles? Keep below 4000 revs? No extreme acceleration? Any advice would be welcome....

Thanks.

Get this bull**** that the guy who sold me my black '06 SRT8 said to me:

"Hey man, you know these just came out in Europe?" - Salesman
"Oh really? How much do they sell for over there?" - Me
"Oh you won't believe it, $290,000.00 US!!!!" - Salesman
"Hmm.......okay, thanks for the info." - Me

Oh and about your questions, I'm just following the instructions in the SRT8 Handbook/Manual.
"Drive moderatley for the first 300miles(500km)"...."after initial 100km(60miles) speeds up to 50mph-55mph (80-90km/h) are desirable..."

Quadman, heres a scan of the manual:

hope this helps, and goodluck with the car.

I don't believe in any break in. All my cars are driven hard and never not once have I had a failure. Good luck

I concur. There are countless ways to break-in an engine. Some say do not drive hard or you will stress the engine, others say you must drive hard to properly settle components.

I do not endorse full-throttle driving directly after the purchase, but I do not believe in coddling these machines either.

Break-in the engine the same way you intend to drive.
