I think it's probably BS but I was at Allen Samuels Jeep today looking at the black SRT8 they have and the sales manager (who seemed kinda dishonest) told me the dealers with silver ones are not allowed to sell them due to some recall and problem with the silver paint. I gave the salesguy (a decent guy) my phone number and told him to call me when silver becomes available again :) I also told him I can wait indefinitely for one and was not in any particular hurry but his manager seemed uninterested in letting me order exactly what I want.

Allen Samuels wants MSRP for the black one on their showroom floor...it's fully loaded (SRT1, adj. pedals, nav, rear seat ent...) and I believe it has 9 miles on the odo but don't quote me on that, I might have been looking at the trip odo. They are keeping it locked and besides fingerprints and dust it looked damage free. I don't know anything about their reputation but I didn't get the warm fuzzies from the manager but they do have this one just sitting there if any of you want black before someone drives it or damages it. The manager holds the keys to it, so no regular salesperson can even unlock it to show the interior without him being involved (this is good and bad IMHO).

That sounds like BS to me. If I were to read between the lines of that, they are saying we won't be able to get our dirty dishonest hands on anymore of these. So can I interest you in a black one?

He located two silver ones in the region. My feeling is that those two dealers wouldn't trade with him, so he made this up. His claim was this is a new "recall" (that's what he called it) and the other dealers where not allowed to sell these cars even though they were sitting on the lot (this is not unheard of and happened with the SVT Mustangs). I'll know more in a few days when another dealer checks this for me. I do alot of work for a local non-franchise dealer and he's checking with some of his contacts on this and trying to find me what I want at decent price. He doesn't have many contacts for DC products since it's not typically what his customers buy but he has sold a few lately.

100% BS. Silver is alive and well.

There is a dealer here who had a silver SRT coming, but it was placed in confinement, I don't know if the color has anything to do with it, but I was told that some of the brakes were squealing
