Just picked up my 08 from Champion last night. Do you guys in IL have your front lic plate on? They left the bracket off for me to decide whether I was going to disgrace the face of my SRT.

I went about 6 months without it, but finally put it on after the wife kept asking if she would get stopped (its her daily driver). I fiqure its one less reason to get pulled over.

It sucks to have to put it on, but I feel more comfortable with it.

Its your call.

when i picked mine up, it hadn't had the holes in for the bracket, i specifically told them i didn't want any hols in my bumper, but the tards at the dealership said they were required by law to drill it, so they did. i am totally pissed at this since i don't have my front plate on from day 1. sucks to have the holes. they have to do some warranty work on the front end however so i am going to tell them i want a new front end for not listening to me in the first. THEY OWE ME!

Another option is to roll/fold under the bottom half inch of the plate and mount it under the front bumper against the grill with zip ties. I learned this from Runutzzzzz. It probably is not technically fully legal, but I doubt that you will be bothered about it unless you have already seriously irritated the constabulary. And it is visible without defacing the front end with an ugly mount.

Kildeer has been the only place I have been pulled over for no front plate. they got me twice. I also got tinted windows tickets from Kildeer. Those guys are a-holes.

I guess that pretty much means the plate will go on this wknd.

Kildeer is bad unless you live there I suppose. Palatine isn't exactly Rocoe and Enus at the Boars Nest either.....

I dunno..... I never get "harassed" in Palatine. They allways pull me over for a good reason (excessive speeding, etc..). The four times i got pulled over in Kildeer were all BS. 1.tinted windows 2.tinted windows 3.no front plate 4.speeding 8 over.

When I bought mine they offered to fix it ---- got a quote for $500 to fix and clear coat the whole bumper-- the dealer made good and coverd the three holes--- pics later

OK, here is what I did. I bent the top inch and bottom inch of the plate to a 90 degree angle. Then I drilled small holes at each corner and I used black zip ties to attach it to the small grill under the bumper. This way I have a plate that is visible, at least the numbers are, and it looks pretty legit at a glance. Of course if you study it, and you are someone who pays close attention to detail you will notice something is different.

With the 90 degree bends it is not so far in there as it would be if you were to trim the inch off at the top and bottom. It kind of looks like a Euro license plate to me.

Now I have the option to install the bracket and plate someday if I so choose and my bumper has no holes in it.

Let see if I can figure out how to attach a pic.....

Looks pretty good. That should work as long as the cop isn't a total asshat.

When I purchased mine, the front plate bracket was on. I asked to have the holes filled by the dealer, which they said it would be no prob. When I removed the bracket the front bumper cover was scratched due to vibration. If you're going to take it off, I suggest doing it quickly before there's damage. FYI, it can be used as a reason for the police to stop you....

^ is that just strictly for chicago ? because when i got pulled over in park ridge I was told by the officer that you can't get pulled over for no front plate. Of course unless they pull you over for another reason than they can AlsO give you a ticket for no front plate

I have an SRT4 (more prone to being stopped) and I have not had my front license plate on for 2 1/2 years.

I don't have the front plate on either of my cars and have been pulled over for everything possible and never received a ticket or even mention of the front plate.

No mount for me. I specifically asked that they do not place bracket on the bumper. No problems after 7 years in BMW and nothing to date as of now in the Jeep...knock on wood.:bangin:

Not true, this is a good probable cause reason to stop a vehicle. It's a reason for officers to make contact with a driver which could lead to other issues. It's the same as having no rear license plate light or the air freshner hanging from the rear view mirror....Believe it or not I have seen officers stop cars for those BS reasons.

I would leave it off until given a reason to mount it (then I would take a picture of an SRT with a front plate attached and go to court and show the judge the picture so it looks like you put it on) HOPE THIS HELPS OUT

Out here in the Rockford area they like to pimp ya for no plate. I have been hit in all my vehicles, but I still wont put one on the GCSRT8 :)

Depends on the area and also depends on the officer.

I see Kildeer mentioned......the police there stay pretty active with vehicle violations from what I've seen. I'm always sure and I tell all my crews to be sure to properly tarp the trucks, strap down loads, etc...

Not to mention the Secretary of State Police that love to patrol Rt. 12 in the Wauconda/Volo area. They are always busy when I see them.

Just like window tint on the fronts.....some places let it go and don't use it to pull you over, others use it as a reason to pull you over.

I know on my buddy's Cobra he'd always just keep the front plate on the dash.

I live in downtown Chicago and do not have mine on because I am a real man and refuse to make my truck look stupid. I have a garage spot so obviosuly no tickets in there over night but I have eaten about 7 of these tickets since I have had my truck (1 year). I also ate 3 of these tickets in my M3 and 4 in my old EVO. Typically you get hit hard in the city if you are street parked plus they always tag it on to additional parking tickets like empty meter. Either way it sucks to have to pay them but it is better then being a *** and mounting that front plate.
