Driving home last night from my parents Im going down a road with merged lanes due to construction....

I look left and not even a glimmer of light from headlights..So I turn right. I go through a green light and am almost to the merged part when I look in the drivers side mirror and see lights coming up extremely fast. I wad to swerve so that he didnt smash into the back of me...

So I avoided being rear ended by this A-hole and I was pissed because he was driving like an idiot and my wife and 8yr old daughter were in the Jeep with me.

I put the brights on him so he knew I was pissed...He slams on the breaks and stops completely in the middle of the road. I slam mine and stop. I started to go around him and he lights up the rear tires and takes off so I dont get in front.

I put a few carlengths in front of me and hit him with the brights for the rest of the 1 lane. I am steaming now....I hope he was turning where I was going so I didnt put on a signal. Unfortunately he went straight and I never got to see his face.....

If I see him again, it will not be good.....

If it was someone here on this site with the Vette, You are a complete AZZhole and I would have dragged your Azz out of the vette and showed you what happens to people that put my family in danger.

I drive fast too, but I dont put others in that kind of danger and I dont act like a complete douchbag if I do it by accident.

I was in my military uniform and I wish I would have been by myself. You would have been notified about how I felt...

The Vette was a convertible, silver, going south on Orchard rd in Aurora between Prairrie and Rt 30.....it went south in front of Walmart. I went east.
The driver must have been brain dead.

Just so you know, If I had not swerved, You would have rear ended me. I was going 45, you had to be going at least 80....I would have been very unhappy....

It must be a Vette thing. It seems like all guys in Corvettes drive like this. I run into this quite a bit.

sounds like someone was envious? lol realizing he had a vette and knew what the capabilities of an srt8 were, prolly wanted something he couldn't handle. obviously if he had to drive like that then he prolly wouldn't have been able to to contorl his nerves if the real deal was going down, an actual race. some guys like that just need to figure out sh8t the hard way, just hopefully not at someone else's cost. i drive fast myself but am very aware of people around me, surely there are some people who don't think i see them or are scared and flash me or lay on the horn, but trust me my head is in the right place while driving the beast. it's a good thing nobody did get hurt. i am in Castle Rock, if i see a wild silver vette on the road i'll let him kow he can't pull that crap anymore and get away with it.... by the way, does anyone know if a modded srt8 can take a new stock Z06?

Agreed... that was a little risky for me. You never know how people will react to that these days! :(

The chances of the Vette owner being on this site are slim to none. Sucks to hear about your encounter, though. Actually having to stop in the middle of the road is pretty pathetic.

Hey Rusty sorry to hear you ran into an a-hole, chicago land seems to be a breeding ground for them...heres my story from a week ago...

Driving my loaner (commander) on 294n going northbound w/ my gf and her little dog -taking the car back to the dealer to pick mine up...well i'm cruising at like 80mph and out of nowhere i hear CRACK CRACK CRACK !! - sounds like rocks hit the window next to my face and i turn left and guess what ??? I got paintballed at 90mph by some punk ass kids in a silver evo w/ temp plates-- each of the paintballs hit each side window and one nailed the window next to my face --getting nailed by paintballs as these little asswipes flew by got me soo pissed off-if i had my GC i would have chased their ass down. I mean wtf!! what if i had my window down ? it would have ****ed up my face & caused an accident- what if it was a car load of kids ?? they flew by too fast to see who was driving & they were in the lane next to me so they only shot the gun from about 3ft away. And all i could do was call state police & report it. I feel your rage man' i'm about to move out of this state soon --way tooo many punk@ss kids.

<<<If I see him again, it will not be good.....>>>>

Be very careful. It's best to just bite your tongue and let idiots like that go. You never know what you will confront. He could have a gun, a knife, or a 5th Dan.

I have driven the Chicago area for years. We have some of the worst drivers around. Just don't make a bad situation worse. Now, if only I can practice what I preach.

ndm im really sorry that happened to you especially with your fam.. some people just dont think sometimes but i noticed as well most vette drivers drive them like they have a 1.7 liter 4 banger under the hood---and to answer veyrons question i own a 2007 Z06 its modded now but stock it cut 11.70's soo i would imagine in the 1/4 a seriously modded srt could keep up with a decent driver in the vette but from a roll no contest--people dont realize how serious the new Z06 is till they drive one--i was also the owner of a 2004 Z06 and i couldnt believe the diffrence when i got my new one

I'm also a Vette owner as are a few others on on this forum. Many of us are old Geezers as the average vette owner is 55 years old and most of us will tell you that we don't speed that often in town because the law watches these things like hawks. They usually single us out to hit with radar because we are kind of easy to pick out from a string of cars.

That's why we bought GCSRT8's. With the little bit of testosterone we have left, we can enjoy similar performance without drawing too much attention and then blend into the crowd when needed. We call this wisdom.

ANOTHER WORD OF WISDOM: Don't ever pass pass someone then slam on the brakes. Happened here in Colorado on an interstate a year or so ago and the guy who was passed had to swerve to avoid rear ending the breaking car, lost control, went across the median and he and the guy he hit head on were both killed. The idiot who slammed on the brakes was not hit but was convicted of murder and is now serving a life sentence. True story.

That's terrible what happened to the innocent people, but I'm glad that prick got a life sentence for that crap.

That is very sad....But I was not the one who slammed the brakes...He did it to me and I had to slam them to avoid hitting him....then I tried to go around.

I am glad you didn't fight the guy, because some of these people are just as crazy and Gun-Ho' as some of the service men. I know i am, so be careful who you approach. These nutts here would of tried to hurt or even killed you and made you wish you were still over seas somewhere. So thank GOD' your family was in the the car. I am one who loves a good fight, but I do pray to avoid one and to avoid jail. Anyhow glad you and your family wasn't hurt.
