I recently had Ultimate Auto Care install a 3M clear bra on my 2008 SRT8 Jeep. This bra is identical to the 06 Jeep and the one installed on my E55. Both performed flawlessly and his install are as professional as they get...the headlights and the entire front end is covered and protected from rock and sand chips.....Sean Heiland is the owner and they are located in Orange California.

That Blue is outstanding!
I'll pickup my silver 08 on Tuesday but if I could change one thing,
Would have gone Blue.

The difference between my 08 and 06 are like tennis shoes to a nice pair of Johnson & Murphy's! You'll love the 08....Congrats!

I just realized that the 08's w/ the curved front would look absolutely sick w/ an air ram type hood.

Steve, he did a nice job of putting your bra on. That jeep is absolutely gorgeous. Here in N.E. Pa we definitely could use those 3M bras on the cars with the crap that they put on the roads in the winter time. Thats why we have a 98 GC 5.9 as a daily beater but I am sure tempted on an 08 Overland in the Steel Blue to replace it. That color sure is pretty. How are you liking it so far? How is the ride? I see you already changed the tires. Getting close to the 426? Good luck with it Steve. Rich

Hey Rich!!
How's it going? I highly recommend the plastic bras......they truly save the front end.....I really like the changes and updates along with the smoother ride......the 426 is moving along....I already put down 5k and am dreading the rest:D.....Dont go anywhere I'll be posting some interesting stuff in the next few minutes......wait til you see the slotted and drilled rotors:eek:.

I'm curious, did he do the bumper cover in pieces the way the side mirrors are, with just the main areas covered, or did he wrap the whole bumper. Where was it sectioned together? SBM is nice.

Both my rides have a bra. Wouldn't be without it. Particularly in view of the fact that I do a lot of long distance highway driving with everything from sand, to tire carcasses, to bolts to rocks etc. flying around. Just replaced the lowest facia piece on Jeep. Don't know what hit it, but ripped a 1" tear right in the bra, but no paint damage.

My buddy owns this company and he does mostly high line stuff. Benz, M's, Astons, F's, Vettes, and P cars. We have mixed and matched 3M, Expel Venture film. The Venture is a bit easier to work with and to me is a little clearer. Check the link to see coverages for 06 and 07..(08 not up yet) and you can see where seams are.

For those new to this product, DIY is not a quick and easy install. This stuff is not window tint. It is not cheap and requires patience and skill to work/stretch the film and end up with no flaws, stretch marks or small imperfections. It is labor intensive.

Anyone who has any questions, call Ryan, he is a good guy and will be glad to share info.

I was asking because I have had it since day 1. The guy I used to install it is talented, but it was his first crack at an SRT8 Jeep. Some wouldn't attempt it at all. He did a good job, but I asked him to keep the whole front in one piece so except for 2 cuts the entire bumper was one piece of film. Great for no shrinking on the seams, but downside was that had to really work the film and ended up with some skin like stretch marks. Overall it wasn't bad. After someone hit me in the parking lot a couple of months ago and I got my bumper replaced he just did it again. This time, put more seams in it and the film sits much flatter and gives a better finish. Its a trade off, but I think I prefer a few more seams but the better finish. Both times 3M flim.

Ryan did my 07 SBM... He came on time, did a great job, showed me how to care for the file, and left the place clean. My only complaint was that after my wife saw how good it worked and looked, I had to ask him to come back and do her car too...

Had my first 3M Clear Bra installed 1 month after purchase aournd 7/1/06. Around that same time this year I took the Jeep to an "Auto Spa" that just opened in the area. We were under water use restrictions because of the drought and could not wash a car at home. It was 90+ degrees that day and they first sprayed the concentrated cleaner on the front for bug removal. Well, that concentrated cleaner ruined my clear bra by leaving permanent spots all over the film.

Went back to the installer and they knew immediately what the problem was as a few of their other clients had visited the AutoSpa with similar results. They said a black/dark vehicle on a 90+ day not being cooled with water before applying the cleaner can cause this problem. The AutoSpa has changed cleaners according to the owner. We got to know each other well after this incident.

I call 3M customer service and they are GREAT! Said they were sorry and that they had changed the film since last year and would pay the installer to remove and replace the film.

Leave Jeep at installer for new film and get a call about 2 hours later. When they were removing the film from the lower bumper it pulled large chunks of paint off with the film.

2nd call to 3M customer service and explain the situation and they don't even hesitate and tell the installer to contact a local paint shop to have the bumper repainted.

It was a long journey but I'm a fan of 3M standing behind their products. The new film looks great and it is always good to find a company that will stand behind their products and provide such great customer service.

I recommend the 3M clear bra to anyone.

I am just throwing my two cents out there on this. I installed the 3M hood and fender clear bra on my 07 back in June of 07 and removed it in January due to peeling on the edge of he hood. I loved the thought of this product for the protection it is supposed to give us and loved the way it looked. HOWEVER! I could have died when I removed the film! My paint is ruined! All the areas of the paint that were under the clear bra are "raised" as though they are swollen due to moisture or something. My jeep looks just as though the bra is still on it. The paint is a slightly different hue than what wasnt covered! It won't go away. Have spoken to many autobody shops and to my dealer. No one knows what to do. Some suggest heat lamps. Sounds scary! Some suggest buffing the paint down. Yes, there is actually a raise in the paint that you can feel. I am so disappointed. Have damaged paint by trying to protect it! Probably just going to put on another one to cover it up. But I suggest to you to think very carefully before doing this to yours! And if anyone knows anthing about how to help me please please feel free to pm me or post. Thanks a lot. Just trying to save someone else the hurt.

Looks like a really neat product. Does it spray on like paint? How long have you had it on yours?

not on my car, but my detailer did the job on my neighbors z8. It has been some time now and he loves it. He (the neighbor) parks near me in the parking structure, so I always check it out to see if there are any problems.

Yes you spray it on like paint, then you have to wet sand and buff, and prior to that you have to fix all the imperfections of the paint i.e. Rock chips scratches etc.
I think it is worth it for the reason, if you have a reputable auto body shop, one that is going to be around for awhile, the lifetime warrantee is awesome.

I have been doing ClearMask installs (3m film... under a different name) for just over 3 years now. I have only seen one occasion that the film "lifted" the paint on a car and it was due to a very poor paint job. The paint needs to be cured before you put the material on.

As far as the edges lifting... that a sign of a poor install. The installer needs to hard card the edges down before he releases the vehicle back to the owner. A lot of shops do not do good installs. It is a shame that there are so many out there now that are ruining the business by rushing jobs and not installing correctly.

I would not have another vehicle without having my ClearMask kit on before I started putting miles on it. I installed my 2006 G35 coupe, my 2004 Viper SRT-10, and my 2007 GC SRT-8 and all of them are chip free on the front. I have since sold my G35 and Viper, but when I traded them in they were perfect. By having the kit on I increased my resale value... just something else to keep in mind.

If any of you have any questions, feel free to message me. There are some great paint protection films out there... just make sure you are getting a good install. If not you wont be happy and more than likely you will have to go back and get it corrected somewhere else. And cheaper is definately not better when it comes to getting these done.
