: Upon Delivery....... Buyers Remorse!!!
jms935 03-10-2006, 07:55 PM I just took delivery of my fully loaded red ride this morning. I live in Chicago and purchased from an out-of-state dealer, so they paid for a third party transportation company to deliver the truck to me. Thus I was taking delivery of it whether I wanted to or not. To answer your question before you ask, yes I would have never drove off the lot with this truck in this state, but the delivery driver had already notated the damage on the shipping ladel, then he loaded up the truck and drove off the lot with it. Check out everything wrong with my brand new srt8:
missing the srt8 owners manual
missing the srt8 service manual
missing the 2 wireless infotainment headsets
missing the temp tag (so I can't drive it till I register it here in Illinois)
And I am only getting started, here comes the good stuff, well maybe it's kind of bad:
The rear driverside wheel has a gouge in it, and at minimum needs to be refinished if not replaced.
The Passenger door has a chip in the paint above the door handle.
The rear driverside door chrome molding is scratched.
The driver door has a 1 1/2" GOUGE in it just above the chrome molding. It feels like it goes clear down to the bare metal, and then they touched it up with paint.
The irony of it all, I have a 1986 and 1988 Porsche. Both of which are in better cosmetic condition than this BRAND NEW 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee srt8 I took delivery of this morning with 13 miles on it.
I have made them aware of the problems and I'll post a reply with how they respond. Till then I have this new ride I can't wait to drive. I have decided it isn't going anywhere until they respond and make reparations. I can already see it now, they respond mid next week and question how many miles are on it. Anything more than 13 and they'll try and blame me for the damage. So for now I am the proud owner of another garage queen. I guess it'll keep my pair of one-off Porsches company.

SRT8 Tuner 03-10-2006, 10:53 PM Glad to see you finally got your SRT8. Too bad with all of the problems though. Keep us updated on how things turn out.
jms935 03-11-2006, 12:10 AM The first thing I did assuming out of the gate that the dealer was going to screw me, was to call Jeep. They are no help, all they can do is file a complaint. They say, "we apologize for your troubles, but there isn't much we can do, the dealers are all independently owned thus we don't have any control over them."
As a matter of fact, this is the second time this month I have filed a complaint with Jeep on behalf of a dealer. The first was a dealer suckering a deposit out of me under the false pretenses that they were taking delivery of a truck "straight from the manufacturer tomorrow" I could hold it with a deposit today.
Next day called to discover they took my $2500 deposit and purchased a truck at another dealership near them, to sell to me. I had already done my homework, and learned of this particular truck and its 170 miles on it. I wasn't interested in purchasing it from the dealer who took original delivery of that truck, let alone one that conned a deposit out of me with a lie.
So I asked for them to credit my account back, I was not interested in that truck nor in doing business with them. They told me, "because we had to purchase this vehicle from another dealer to sell to you, and you are now backing out; it becomes extra inventory on our lot and we are holding your deposit till we sell it."
So I filed a complaint with Chrysler and have my bank working on getting the funds back. This was 3 weeks ago and still have not seen the money, in fact my bank is asking me for more info. It seems that even though they are breaking the law, which states that they have 10 business days to refund my deposit, the burden of proof is on me???
I guess I should've foreseen my problems taking delivery today, looking back on how shitty this entire process has been to purchase one of these trucks.
I will hold back on advertising the name of the dealership I bought the truck from, hopefully anticipating they will do the right thing and make all the proper reparations.
However, I will go ahead and blast away on the dealership that flat out lied to me, then stole $2500 from me. They are Telegraph Jeep in Taylor Michigan. Use this knowledge as you'd like, they do have at least one srt8 on the lot, hell maybe if someone does buy it, I'll get my money back. Or better yet, if someone reads this and is seriously interested email me first maybe we can help each other out. Since after all I do already have a deposit on the truck.
Thanks for the sympathy guys I'll keep you posted,

jms935 03-13-2006, 04:39 PM Just noticed I am also missing a DVD for the Navigation and the manual that goes with it. As well as the Sirius brochure. The list just seems to keep growing.
NERVOUS 03-14-2006, 09:16 PM Sorry to hear about your situation... I am not at all happy with DCX either right now. I have been waiting for my Jeep since January with no progress to date. :(
Best of luck.
jms935 03-14-2006, 09:29 PM I hear you NERVOUS, I didn't want to negotiate with a dealer and give them my money, on the if come they might get one of these. In the meantime all the ones on dealer lots are selling right in front of me. I just wanted one now while I was still HOT for the ride.
The dealership seems to be responsive to fixing all my problems. They haven't fixed anything yet, but are making the arrangements. Apparently my salesmen who let this truck off their lot like this got an ass chewin' to say the least.
Lookin' forward to driving it. It is still sitting in my garage until the repairs are made. I haven't even driven it yet.
jms935 03-16-2006, 05:59 PM Just an update.....
I got my money back from Telegraph Jeep, still working with the other dealer that sold me vehicle on the 'punchlist'
jms935 04-04-2006, 01:05 PM Just thought I would let you guys know what happened.....
After going back and forth for a couple of weeks, the dealer finally provided me with everything the vehicle was missing as far as manuals and headsets go, but as far as the damage they won't pay for anything.
I would not recommend to my worst enemy to buy a new car at Westborn Jeep in Dearborn Michigan. They knowingly signed off on a brand new car with damage to be loaded onto a car carrier, then refused to pay for the damages, or take the vehicle back.
I have now scheduled paint work to be done on a brand new vehicle, and will soon file suit against the dealership. This should be a fun one, their own salesman will be one of my witnesses since he had to sign off on the damage before the shipper would take the vehicle.
BEWARE OF WESTBORN JEEP IN DEARBORN MICHIGAN!!!!!
