Hey guys,
I'm about 2 weeks new around here.. I have had my srt8 "silver" for about 2 weeks with about 600 miles on it. Leased it new with only 10 miles on it. Already have installed the mopar racing CAI. Love the car. I have only had grandcherokees since I have been able to drive long long ago. When they came out with this one, I could not resist no matter what the price!!

Brand new member myself. I own a 2005 Ram SRT-10, but I've been reading this site for a while. I drive the truck just for leisure, but when it's paid off I'm considering an SRT-8 GC as a daily driver. So until then, I'll be lurking in the background learning what I can.

hi all! this is my first post...

i got my Jeep about 2 weeks ago, black of course! aside my unit, there's only one other SRT8 in my country (a tiny banana republic in the south pacific :) ). in fact, my Jeep was a special order with the Dodge dealer, and since he was bringing one in, he decided to have a second (silver) one brought in as well. that car lasted about a week in the showroom before someone picked it up! maybe he should bring in a few more hehehe

i LOVE the bloody thing to death! I used to have a black Grand Cherokee Limited when i lived in Boston ten years ago, and always missed that car. Jeep dealership support in my country wasn't very good, but since the Benz merger, its gotten much better.

lemme just say it again... i LOVE THIS JEEP!!! :D

Another first poster. Just picked up a silver '06 two weeks ago. Traded in an '03 Viper. Very sad day, but had to be done. Moved up from the south last year and couldn't justify the beast sitting in the garage for another midwest winter. The SRT8 is fast, but it's certainly no Viper. I'm working on getting it closer to the speed I'm used to. Ordered a Mopar exhaust today - should be delivered two weeks from now. Better be loud as hell - would like to wake the neighbors. Planning on getting the Mopar CAI in a couple of months. If that isn't loud enough, are headers the next step? If so, does anyone know if Mopar is coming out with some? Wouldn't want to void the warranty...

Hi there!!!

First of all, sorry for my bad english, cause I'm Russian (and I now Russian better, than English. This is normal, i think)... :)

I live in Saint-Petersburg (Russia (the 2-nd big city by size and population after Moscow).

I've offered SRT8 fem days ago, so I'll will recieve it in November. It's the car of a dream... I had Honda Accord (Acura TLS or somethings like that in US) and Subaru Impreza WRX STI, so now I need big car, but with good dinamic and max. speed specs. So I think, I made a good chose...

May be the is some russians on forum or I'm the first?

Hello everyone, my girlfriend just bought a black 2006 gc srt-8 about a month and a half ago. I got her the ep price on it, i believe it is one of two here in Toledo. I tried to talk her out of it, told her to buy a 5.7 instead, but no use once she took it for a test drive it was all over. I am very impressed with it, when i get to drive it which is about every sunday when shes sleepin in. So ill be around soaking up all the great info here.

Hello. Purchased 5 weeks ago, used Black, loaded, from Carmax. Paid $41,900 plus TTL. Had 6400 miles, in new condition. Seen several others in town, including another black 2006 just a mile from me. With only about 90 black GCSRTs in Florida, I've seen more than my share. Also saw a black one on vacation last week in Puerta Vallrta, Mexico. They're all over! I wanted silver at first, but the only one available in my area at that time was new, on a dealer lot. The sales guy told me sticker was $44,900, but they were asking $59,900. I just laughed and walked away. Bought mine the next day. Five weeks later the silver one is still sitting there, up on its pedestal.

Anyway...great forum. Lots of information. Thanks.

Thanks SilverSRT8,

Glad to here that from someone who has made the same switch. I am looking forward to having a little more comfort and more room for my goalie gear etc. It's amazing how I have been able to justify an impractical vehicle in the quest for performance. Still the STi is a great car. I hope the GC SRT8 has a little more sound insulation than the Sti does. I have found the road noise a bit much sometimes.

It's all in the priorities. More performance please!

I just bought a fully loaded steel blue model on Saturday in St Louis and drove it home to Oklahoma and wanted to introduce myself. I'd been shopping for a new SUV to replace my old Blazer for a while and when I first saw the SRT-8 I immediately fell in love. My wife had taken over the infiniti g35 I'd bought for myself after we got married and I needed something with a little more power ;).

I look forward to being a part of this great community.

Have just over 5000km (3100 mi) on my black Jeep SRT8. It's been a blast so far. Looking for any excuse to get out and drive it. Heard (then saw) a Dodge Charger SRT8 with glaspack Cherrybomb exhaust system installed. Amazing sound! Thought the ground was ripping open beneath it. Very cool. Have seen no mention of this option in the exhaust discussion forum. Wish I had recorded it for posting. Anyway great forum, really useful - especially the search for a snow tire solution.

Incidentally Black is not faster! I think because it absorbs all the light it slows down when reaching the speed of light whereas the RED just keeps going.

Hello all.

It’s time for me to finally speak up. I’ve had my new GC for 3 weeks now and I’m a much happier person than I used to be. I find I break into uncontrollable fits of laughter every time I hit the gas. It can be very disconcerting to my passengers.

I've got to say, this website has been an incredible help to me in so many ways. As with any major purchase, I wanted to do a lot of research before making a final decision. Thanks to the fantastic members of cherokeesrt8.com I knew exactly what to do when I walked into my Jeep dealer. I knew what price to pay, and more importantly what parts to include in with my deal. So thanks to you guys I walked out of the dealer paying $500 below sticker on my Jeep, and with the following parts installed prior to pick-up. They even threw the labor in for free.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8, Black Clear Coat
P82210479 – Rear Spoiler Black Clear Coat
P5153453 – Mopar SRT-8 Catback Exhaust
P5153471 – Mopar SRT-8 Cold Air Kit

So far, no tranny shift issues, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Next up, the APS Performance 2600 Torque Converter from Mopar Supercenter.

Thanks again for all the great info!

You have great taste in vehicles - the 2003 RS6 is one of the best cars ever built. How does it compare to the SRT8 GC in performance?

Audi is relaunching the RS6, and it is promised to be an "M5 killer."

Tom C
11-24-2006, 03:32 PM
I haven't really explored the SRT8's all out acceleration...the engine is still a little green. However, I can say that although the RS6's torque rating is similar (415 lbs-ft) but at an even lower rpm and pushing nearly 800lbs less mass....the SRT8 feels like it has alot more. I think the SRT8 has two things working in its favor....better gearing for acceleration and no turbo lag. I never (ok maybe once) spun the tires in the wet with RS6...it had amazing traction, this past week I spun the SRT8's when leaving a light in the wet ( a little aggressive launch). The RS6 is a great car....but even with the sound enhanced exhaust it ss still a lille tame in comparison. Obviously, the RS6 had a much more luxurious focus with tons of sporting flair. The SRT8's seats are more bolstered than the RS6. Obviously, the RS6 had a much better interior materials wise...but it still used "Batman Suit" rubber (as my brother calls it). The car was a 2003, but the Nav system sucked and the radio controls were not on the steering wheel (minor I know...but the M5 had better amentities). It was a great all around car...although the M5 was even more sporting...but you wouldn't want to be driving it when the roads were slick.

However, I'm looking around at a few basic mods (intake, full exhaust, etc...) and I'm pretty shocked by the prices. Hello!
I am new to this forum. I took the time to register as I was not sure about the new Cherokee SRT8. Many things went threw my mind about this SUV.

Now, I am certain that making this purchase will be a great enjoyment as this SUV is just amazing.

Two weeks ago I went to the dealer and took the necessary test drive. I was blown away, simple as that.

Hope by the end of the month or beginning of January I will be driving a 2007 silver Cherokee SRT8.

Best regards,

I am contemplating about a purchase of either a red or silver SRT in the near future, or as soon as I get the WC settlement on my right knee back in march. Fractured same knee 2xs in one week, 2 different accidents. :o

Among the funnier things I seen is as follows...
quoted from above...from TommyG

I wanted silver at first, but the only one available in my area at that time was new, on a dealer lot. The sales guy told me sticker was $44,900, but they were asking $59,900. I just laughed and walked away. Bought mine the next day. Five weeks later the silver one is still sitting there, up on its pedestal.

:o

Now, ill post this part again in the general forums for these questions I have.

1. Have you seen a lot of the sickening dealer mark ups as this one was?
After seeing this markup, i'll do a bit of looking in other states as well, or online for a good price.
2. I do like the more sleeper-ish <is that a word here? sp.... xD > color of the silver , but I also love the retina frying color of the red. Wife likes both, so I am at a loss... choose your color, and why.?
3. Did anyone do a fairly unbiased comparison of the SRT8 vs the TBSS? As these suv's are also suffering from huge dealer markup as well. I was interested in the TBSS, but again, the badass styling of the SRT swayed me and wife unit to the SRT.

I'll be flowing with the torrid takes of the hunt for the perfect new, or even.... used... SRT8 to take the place of my 97 CVPI in my driveway.

until then, bows...

Happy New Year to ALL! Great start for me.
Had Jeep Grand Cherokee's for almost 25 years, including an '06 Black Overland that I traded in the the SRT. Picked up my Black SRT-8 the day before Christmas. Funny story- I unknowingly "stole it" from a buddy that just could not pull the trigger to buy it! Did not even know he was looking! Showed it to him a few days ago, and after he got over it, he called the dealership to find another for him.
Anyway, had a similar experience driving the '07 that I did when I bought a new 1998 5.9L Grand Cherokee almost 20 years ago. As soon as I started it up and traveled 500 feet, I was madly in love, and knew I had to have it. As awesome as that 5.9 was, this SRT just KILLS it in every category. Jeep just stuck the biggest engine they had in the stable into the '98, whereas SO much engineering went into the SRT-8. Also owned a Black '05 Cadillac CRT-V, so I know about great cars and speed. Where I live and what I do, just needed the 4WD, and absolutely love the beast! The power band as well as the handling is simply awesome, as well as the sweet tone out of the pipes! Being 6'4", the bucket seats actually GAINED me at least an extra inch of headroom besides being so comfortable. Can't say enough about it.
Great to belong to the Forum, and am looking forward to info from my new buddies.

Hi Everyone,

My name's Matt, I currently have a 2003 BMW M5 and I'm looking at info on the 2007 and 2008 GC SRT-8. I have read over this board for a week or so now and you all seem like a really great group. The M5 board members are really close too, frequently having events, get-togethers, and giant meets at dealerships to make the frequent service appointments easier on everyone :)

I'm in Santa Monica, California. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Happy to be a new member here.

CAI is "cold or cool air intake". These units can be purchased from various after-market companys such as Dub, Airaid, GSmotorsports, Mopar performance and a few others. The idea is to increase horsepower by bringing in a larger volume of cooler air into the engine. Manufacturers claim increases of anywhere from 8 to 15 horsepower over the stock system. Prices for these units range from about $200 to $350.

Really, these are such different types of vehicles, I would think the choice would be fairly easy once you identify what YOU want and need in a car. The 300 is more of a sporty/luxury sedan, while the GC is a sporty/utility "truck".

Best of luck in your search - can't go wrong with either SRT in my opinion! :)

Hi All,

I picked up my Red Rock SRT-8 last week and am loving it. It rained in LA over the weekend and while most of the cars and trucks were sliding everywhere, my new Jeep stuck to the pavement like glue. I'm coming from a 2002 M5 so there's a little bit of an adjustment period in terms of traction/grip. Happy to see there's a great web/community presence for the Jeep and other SRT-8 vehicles.

I picked up my 07 on Saturday the 10th. Traded my Vette, and departed the Corvetteforum. My Vette was an 04 with a Lingenfelter package, so the SRT8 is not quite in the same performance league (yet), but it is an awesome truck! My kids, 9 and 7, love riding in it and the rear seat entertainment keeps them quiet. It suits the family much better, and it is very fast for what it is. I got $2500 off MSRP, which seems pretty o.k. from what i've read. I am up to just over 600 miles and have found no problems except that I think I may need to buy a gas station...getting around 13.9 MPG. It's great to be here.

Howdy,

I'm a newbie who had the money in hand to order a new 2007 GC SRT8 at a very good price quoted to me by a Texas dealer. When I called last Saturday to formalize the deal, I received an email that indicated a mistake had been made and that the price was some $3,500 more. I was told that I would be called with an explanation, but that never happened. Nevertheless, I am determined to own a GC SRT8. I'll order one from a more reliable dealer when the 2008 models become available.

One question I have though, is the SRT8 going to ride any firmer than my BMW M-3 convertible (2002)?

TIA,

How's it going to all. My name is Jeremy, I live in North Idaho, and I found this forum by doing a Google Search I think it is great for information. I don't have my SRT yet but it will be here on the 28th of Feb. I waited to buy one till jeep came out with another color and finally they got it in BLUE, and I can't wait.
I am no stranger to Jeep, I own a Wrangle TJ that I modded to a out standing ability and would give the SRT's a run for the money. The reason it would is because it is turbo charged!!! with a T3/T4 and a stock 4.0L inline 6, Best time on a cold September night was a 13.1 in the 1/4
The SRT I am getting might see the track a couple of times but that is why I have the TJ.

Hey,

Newbie here. Posted about waiting for the 2008 models a week ago. Since then have listened to this dealer in the Illinois area with great prices and, if what I'm hearing is true, glad I waited. I've enjoyed my 1998 GC 5.9 Limited a great deal since I purchased it almost a decade ago. Almost went for a BMW X3 recently, but honestly, it didn't have the balls that my 98 GC has. Looking forward to fully joining this group as soon as possible.

Have a 2007 Black one a month old.
Have been reading the forum's for about three weeks. A couple of questions I have are 1) How much noise does the CAI make? I had one on my X-5 (Dinan) and my recent Armada. The Dinan made no noise but juiced up the HP. The Armada (Nissmo) made a diesel-like noise which has me second guessing for my SRT8. 2) Has anyone installed the "chip"? I heard of someone installing the CAI and the chip and getting over 500HP. Any suggestions?

No one has installed a "chip" and CAI and gotten 500 HP, thats for sure. CAI doesn't really help all that much from what I understand.

+1.

The Volant isn't noticeably louder. And no one has seemed to be able to crack the dcx pcm to produce any really significant power. Hopefully one day though.

First post here, picked up my '07 yesterday and joined last night after some trolling. The purchase wasn't really planned, the dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse... (under MSRP is nice!)

We have a nice '05 Magnum R/T that's pretty sweet, staggered Foose Nitrous 20s, Zoomers, Volant CAI, Superchips Flashpaq tuner, etc. (No dyno yet).

My tow vehicle is an '04 Ford Excursion 6.0 Power Stroke Diesel. With just a turbo-back exhaust, intake and tuner (SCT of course) it dyno'd @ 474 HP and 708 torque, and makes lots of nice black soot when you get on it. I'd like to warm it up even more but since it's our tow vehicle reliability and longetivity are critical.

Really happy with the SRT, to put it mildly. I'm looking forward to some mild tweaking, for starters. I'm honestly a little surprised (good and bad) about some product and vendor feedback here. Being an LX (Magnum/Charger/300C) guy for a while now I've seen a lot on the forums over the past year plus, and there's been some extremely hard and extraordinarily expensive lessons learned there that would definitely benefit the masses here...

Great site, looking forward to participating...

I know exactly what this car is capable of as i love cars myself :) I keep telling her that this car might be a "TAD" too fast for her, but she does'nt seem to care, or know what i mean by very fast.

We are going for a test drive on thursday and if she likes it, then shes going to get it. :D

Any suggestions, comments, or anything specific i should look for while im going for a test drive are all welcome. Thanks

I was able to test drive it yesterday and I was impressed by the seat of the pants feel. Coming from a modded Ford Lightning and a GTO- I'm no stranger to fast cars or trucks for that matter.
Anyways I'll post pics when I get the beast.... still working out the final numbers w the dealer so maybe mid April or early May.

Hello everyone,
Just joined the site.
I currently live in the USA, but come from Switzerland... Planning to get this wonderful - amazing - incredible GCSRT8! No doubt.
Test drove it, and just in love. As all of you I believe.
Just 2 questions:
- As of today (April 15) do dealers sell it at sticker price (45,340) + tax?
- If I buy it, I will bring it with me in Switzerland -> do you know if the US version matchs with the Europen standards??? (I've seen couple of European members here... Do you know that???)

I really appreciate your help!!! If I get if, I promise I'll drive straight from the dealer and post pictures before my road trip :)

Sincerely,
Billy

Newbee here from Georgia. Just picked up an '07 Silver GCSRT8. Gonna be the wife's daily driver for a while. As for me, my daily driver is a mildly modded '05 Mini Cooper "S" (another vehicle that doesn't get proper respect).Equally as fun to drive as the Jeep I might add. l'm looking forward to learning more about the SRT8's. I'm sure the "mod-bug" will bite soon enough. Who am I kidding it already has. I think I need a CAI.

I'm the proud new owner of a black GCSRT8. It was delivered yesterday. I Bought it from Don Conrad at Champion Dodge. This forum has been very helpful in my decision of choosing a GCSRT8 and the dealership where I purchased it. Don gave me a great price and delivered to my door here in Michigan. I would recommend him to anybody looking for a vehicle. After 2 days of reading my manual I think I have everything figured out. I have one question about Rear Park Assist. When the 2 yellow LEDs get bright after detection is there supposed to be an audible alert tone? Is there supposed to be any audible alert tone while more of the yellow LEDs are being activated? I only receive a pulsing audible tone when the first set of red LEDs are on and a solid audible tone when the second set of reds are on.
Thanks for everyones help and this forum.

Hello Members,

I'm officially a newbie! Just picked up my black GCSRT8 yesterday and all I can say is this thing is utterly AMAZING! This jeep wants to jump out of it's own skin! The power & handling are incredible. I have been lurking & learning here for awhile, so thanks in advance for all the great info. My beauty is black, and has every available option . . . even the block heater(like I'll need that in CA!). I'll be asking plenty of questions soon as I will be moving towards blackout looks and performance mods as soon as I can do the research. Looking forward to running into a few Bay Area SRT8 owners in the coming months. All smiles . . .

Looking forward to getting into the community.

Since Iv'd had my GCSRT8 , for less than a week.I have described to my friends how insane, and stupid this vehicle is. When I say stupid I mean What a stupid vehicle. I got about 150 miles on the first tank of gas that was free from the dealer. I'm stupid because I live on a dirt road and I bought black . I have always bought fast american low production veheicles but this by far outperforms them all. Whoever came up with the idea to put all this perfmonce in an SUV is insane and stupid and I love them for it. I would have never bought an SUV especially with a DVD and electronics that I'll never use. Until now. So I stay it's stupid. It's mainly because i can't get the stupid grin off my face.

New Black SRT in New Orleans will be 2 weeks old to me tomorrow at about 600 mi, and congratulations to me, gave my first authograph to the "authority" on the way home from picking up son from school today. 53 in a 35. Hrmph. I'll get a Valentine One for the new lady in my life, along with a better set of lungs.

To that end, been talking with Eddie at Southern HotRod just crosstown to get the car breathing right. I guess it will be Volant, Kooks, and B&B for me. I'd like to see a Volant pipe that gathers air from the bottom as well, or fabricate one. Seems like we all go through the process. Buy it, learn how to drive it a bit, and the read like hell and sample sound clips to determine how to get the thing breathing better. Should have known the car was going to be a good one when at the dealership my 2.5 year old son pushed me into the passenger seat, shut the door, and then ran around and climbed in the open driver's side. One of the things I've noticed with enthusiast cars is that finding folks with your car in your town makes it worth while, be it mod tips, ideas or group buys.

Hey Guys

Forum virgin here.

I just picked up my black '07 GC SRT8 today with 7 miles on the clock. I've owned GCs for many years. In fact my wife and two kids each have one. I got out of my '05 5.7 GC and my '05 CTS-V in search of one vehicle that could give me the best of both cars: power, handling, comfort, and 4 wheel drive. Mission accomplished! This thing is a beast.

I look forward to spending time on the Forum and learning more about this fantastic machine. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go for a ride!

Got my Silver GCSRT8 less than a week ago, already got over 1100 miles on it. So far i got a K&N drop in air filter, jep chip, and an SRT8 shift knob. Putting in my 2 L7 15" kickers soon along with HIDs, and difuser. Decided to sell my new eclipse AVN 6611 deck though and keep the stock navi deck, i love the U connect and it will be a nice change to be able to use my steering wheel controls for a little bit. God damn i love this truck though.

ps anyone know of any other easy (under $1000) mods i can do that are neccessary?

Just bought my frist Jeep. I never thought I would live to say "I own a Jeep" But this is just not your everyday Jeep. I own quit a few mucle cars, and when I saw this bad boy. I thought man what is that? I asked, and was told it's a JGC SRT8. Hmm, I'm not into Jeeps, so could you tell me what that is, I asked. My salesman, aka friend went and got the keys to it. Oh boy!! We took it for a ride, and when we came back. Well there really wasn't much more to ask, except where do I sign my name to. ;-) I'm learning everyday about the SRT8 Jeep's, and they are def. a rare breed, that I really like. Sorry about writing a book here. I got rapped up in the momment. Anyways I just joined yesterday, and I really like this board. Lots of good info!! And it's a great way to waist some time a work, hehe. In advance, thank you all for your help that you may give in future reference.

Brand new member myself. I own a 2005 Ram SRT-10, but I've been reading this site for a while. I drive the truck just for leisure, but when it's paid off I'm considering an SRT-8 GC as a daily driver. So until then, I'll be lurking in the background learning what I can.

Hey Man!

I got the same SRT-10 CE! Nice ride, what a beast...
Until the beginning of March I had an 02 Escalade that was my daily driver. I was looking for something different and spotted the GC SRT8 and test drove it. I was hooked and made the deal happen 30 minutes later. I love this truck. Still got my SRT 10 which I considered selling but like you is more a weekend blast and decided to keep her.
One tribute about the GC SRT8 that I love is you never have to worry about hooking up the rear end. Just drop the hammer and you just launch. "Wet or Dry" LOL Got goose bumps just thinking about it.:D

From what I've seen and heard lease rates are atrocious. I can't imagine why anyone would choose that route. What I haven't seen is a lease rate breakdown to determine if it's the money factor or residual value that makes them so silly.

Hey! On board now!

I went Friday and did a drive-by at a So. Cal Jeep Dealer that had an 06 Black, all options and VERY clean. I even crawled around underneath and i was almost spotless. I was only going by to look at it.

2-hours later..... I was driving it home leavin' my 03 WD Escalade EXT behind:( . I only had to come back on Saturday to bring the EXT title back to the dealer.

VERY good dealer experience. Paid what I wanted and got almost the KBB trade-in value on my EXT.

Just thouht I'd post the "intro"

Traded the 01 Grand Caravan for a 07 Redrock GRSRT8 two months ago, how about that for upward mobility! Based on what I've read on these forums, I am pleased with our deal. Basically paid full sticker and got wholesale plus $3K on the trade in. :p

Changed the oil / filter at 500 miles, OK I'm old school or maybe just obsessive compulsive. Did the debadging and antenna mods without incident, and successfully did the tstat changeout, went smoothly albiet with a small burp required to get the air out. Not bad for a guy who hasn't turned a wrench in 10 years.

Already took her on 1,000+ mile long trip back to see the family in MO, she's a real comfortable long distance traveler. Got 17.2 MPG @ 80-85 MPH loaded with wife, 2 kids and luggage. Looking forward to taking her down to Clearwater in July!

Can't wait to get the Mopar CAI just to hear her roar a bit more! Mom gets her new car and Dad gets his muscle car, all for a tad over $40K, what a great vehicle! :D

New member here, down in Houston. Got my black 07 GC about a month and a bit ago. Had the rims stolen a week after I got it, but that's water under the bridge. Love everything about the SRT8 and get all kinds of looks. I even had a guy approach me while I was sitting in the chair getting my hair cut. This guy was driving a black 5.7 GC and had a serious jealousy complex after he saw "the mistress." Got my V1 in today and am taking her in tomorrow to get the rear brake pads swapped out under the new TSB. Love the forum and looking forward to being a contributing member. That said, what are the first mods I should consider? Anything to improve gas mileage? HAHA:) Also, anyone been able to tie a motion sensor or tilt sensor into the stock alarm?

Hey, all... A newbie here.

I've been a fan of Jeeps for a long time and had been in love with the CGSRTs since they came out. Over the last several years, I have been mostly sporting the GM name plate with Camaros, Trans Ams, GTOs, etc. Currently I am sporting a TrailBlazer SS (don't gang up on me too much guys :D ). It's a fun ride, but a GCSRT will be mine hopefully within 6 months or so. After that, perhaps a Challenger. Yep, it seems I am moving over to the Dark Side.

Anyway, just saying hello to everyone. Looks like a cool board with a lot of good info from what I have seen so far.

Whats up from Long Island, NY everyone.
I have been lurking for a while on this great forum and just decided to make an intro. Here is my story: About 8 months ago it was time for a new vehicle, and I really wanted an 07 SRT 8, but the lack of towing ability made me buy a 07 GC Overland (5.7 HEMI). I am lucky to still have a highly moded 98 Mustang Cobra (origional owner with 19K on the clock!) for my speed addiction. For the money the 5.7 WK really is the best all around suv on the market today. It goes pretty good (mid to high 14's mith my few mods), handles pretty well (on and off road) for a SUV, tows up to 7200# with confidence, and provides for a nice smooth ride. What it doesn't do is everything a SRT 8 can do well. That being said, I have decided to replace my Overland with a 2008 or 2009 SRT8 GC sometime in the next year (if the 6.4 HEMI is not comming in 09) or in a little over a year (If the 6.4 HEMI has arrived for the 09 MY).
Anyhoo, I look forward to learning a ton about these amazing SUV's during my stay here.

Just bought a local, slightly used (6K) '07 black, loaded off this site! Have had it for a month, it is the wifes truck. I have only driven it once and only for about 10 miles. My wife loves the truck, although it is not as low key as I lead her to believe! She sold a MB S-Class and she loves her new ride. It sleeps with my SRT 10 Ram.

Only mod will be the Borlas-when the price decreases.

"Relatives found!"

Hello everyone! I've had my JGC SRT8 for almost two months now. Love this car! I don't do much posting, but believe me, I'm all over this forum, reading all I can.

Had the good fortune to meet a few of you guys at Irwindale a couple of weeks ago. My ride was bone stock. "Ourzoo", first bro. I met with another GC SRT. "General confusion", a bro. that has already been putting the GC SRT8 thru it's many tests. "Running9's", threw down some awesome times with his Nos GC SRT8. And "Envied", with his very stylish GC SRT8. Love the black wheels!

Needless to say, I got the mod. bug and it won't leave me alone. Debadged it, put a drop in K&N, did the snorkel mod, 180 thermostat-of course, phenolic spacers being installed as I speak and I just ordered the B&G stage 2unit. Exhaust is coming soon! I'm thinking "Borla".

Good thing my credit limit was raised! LOLOLOL!!! Peace everybody!

Hello to all,
I'm considering ordering the JGC SRT8 through a military program. I'm currently in Iraq. I order it now and pick it up when I return.

A 2008 JGC SRT8 for $38,000, with SRT 1 option. I'm pretty sure thats a good price from what I read here. However they want to charge $1900 for extended warranty for 7 yr/70,000.

Is it a good deal? Should I pass on the warranty?

This is a great site. I'm a former Vette owner and the info here is just as good as any Vette site. This will be my first experience with a Jeep product.

Thx

Welcome to the forum. First of all, my respect to you Sir, for the job you do and may you return soon......and hopefully enjoy the Hell out of a new Jeep.

The deal sounds pretty decent. I would not get the warranty at the initial purchase. If you plan to keep the vehicle beyond the 3/36 waranty I would consider it. You will have several options. I would wait till you return and check out various sellers to get the best deal. Just my 2 cents I would also not get it initially if you plan to roll it in with your financing.....why pay the extra interest on the purchase.

Here's one example, and they sell a lot. Google Chrysler warranty and check them out.

http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/

You can get the warranty at any time from several sources here at home.

Hi Everyone, just got my SRT8 3 weeks ago and it was an excellent move. I wasn't sure of the engine power, but after I took one for a ride, I was convinced
this was my Jeep. I would not have even considered this vehicle if it didn't have the 6.1L HEMI. I have bought and sold many Jeeps in the past, but the HEMI is the bomb.

Anyway, its a pleasure to join this group. From Boston, MA BTW.

Hi, I just joined tonight after my first test drive in an 06 SRT8. I don't know if that particular one is for me (red is my bad luck color) but I was impressed. My last car was a Cadillac CTS-V and I've got an 01 vette convertible in the garage so I'm not completely talking out of my @ss here. :)

I'll be posting lots of pre-buy questions over the next few days. And if anyone knows of a nice SRT8 (not red) the MD/VA/DC area, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks.

Hey, I just joined here and test drove my first SRT-8 yesterday.

I was left speechless honestly.

This thing is a BEAST. Period.

I am going to wait out for a 2008 model and go through Champion.

Check the classified section here. I picked up a Borla Type S cat-back and a Volant CAI this week. And the prices were VERY good.

Hello everybody,

I got mine new 07 Red Rock on June 30th. ...Since then it's in the garage. I still have couple of weeks and few hundred miles left, before I'll return my Volvo S60R.
Really looking forward to start driving the Jeep and meeting everybody. First impressions are pretty positive; especially off the line...
Briefly about myself: Many years ago I used to race a bit (Europe, rallie, class A2 up to 1,600cc). Nothing spectacular, you won't read in the papers about my achievements, but it was a lot of fun!
Before SRT I owned several Maximas, GS400 (modified), CLK55 AMG (my favorite car) and Volvo S60R (my least favorite).
I will probably mod the SRT, but not immediately, need to do more reading and do proper break in.

Best regards,

Isaak

Whats up everyone, just got my new GC SRT8 delivered today from Champion. I have put a whole 17 miles on it since I got it this afternoon, but I test drove them multiple times and fell in love. Can't wait to get it broken in and have some fun.

If anyone has put a system in their GC SRT8 and wants to give some advice let me know, I took my two JL W3V2 10's and my JL 500/1 out of my last truck and plan on putting it in the GC, just have to figure out the best way to do it.

Hey there. I have been reading this forum for the last 6 months and finally bought "runutzzzzz's" mildly used black '07 Friday afternoon. I am still smiling. My props to him for the care he expended on this vehicle, its looks showroom and runs strong (and probably is the slowest vehicle he owned!). I still cannot get over how solid this vehicle feels. Except for a backseat creak, which he told me about, it feels like it is carved out of a single piece of granite. And I have no question that next to the definition of effortless speed in the dictionary is a picture of a JC SRT8! I mean my wife "accidently" chirped the tires twice in our driveway, once in reverse! LOL. Thanks for all of the good info posted here, it lead me down the right path!

Hello Everyone,

New member here...purchased my JGCSRT8 last month, it's a '06 but with only 8400 miles on it...joined the forum last week and I have to say that by far the best forum out there that I've joined...will be posting pics shortly, I am also very surprised that there is a lot of mods you can do to this Jeep...personally I think it's perfect.

Greetings,

Checking in ... sold my '65 Race Hemi car last year, and although I'm the original owner of a mint 1991 Cherokee Laredo, I miss having a Hemi in the garage.

My 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser "Lemon" was bought back by Toyota a few months ago and I've been scoping out the 2008 performance SUVs .. test drove a 2007 TBSS and GCSRT8.

Well, I have Hemi roots in my blood and the SS has a weak tranny.. so I guess I'll be ordering a new 2008 GCSRT8.

Hi all from Canada. Purchased my GC8 in Jan. of this year. Black with a full load(up here that is $58,980 without the $4,000 gas guzzler tax) Found this forum after I bought it and cruise through here on a regular basis. Enjoy reading many of the members comments and opinions on the GC8.I also have Ram 4 by 4 so I reallly am not concerned about how well it does in the snow,my pet peeve is why didn't the mopar gang give us some soft rubber under our front nose piece? Would have made parking and slow down bumps a tad easier to deal with. I see the 2008's will have the MDS system (you lucky peeps) Should make people a little happier at the pumps. Well bye for now good luck to all with your 8's!!!!

Hi all - I've been on board for about a week. Currently own 2 VW Jettas 1999 MK3 custom and the wife has a 2004 VW GLI 1.8T. I'm keeping both and getting the GCSRT8 within couple of months. I wanted an 07 but I'll wait for the 08's since they have a few options I prefer over the 07. Me and the fam can't wait. Thanks for providing great input! :D

Greetings all! :)

After researching the GCSRT8 for some time...and reading as much of these boards as I can...I finally went and test drove my first SRT8.

Loved it....too much. Although I'm not quite ready to buy one(financially)...the dealership wanted to sell me one.(surprise surprise)

The key is my trade in. I have a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sypder GT....that I bought in June of '06. Long story short, here is the financial breakdown:

- Owe $29k on existing car
- They say actual cash value of my car is $19k lol
- STR8(black, fulled loaded) $46k - $3k for cash rebate = $43k sales price of new car

= no deal

I'm a banker by trade(obviously)...and before I went in...I crunched some numbers.

kbb.com says my cars value = $21k
I owe $29k = $8k in negative equity.
Sales price on SRT8 is $43k + 8k in neg equity = $51k sales price

$51k loan amount x 9% interest x 84 mos. = $820.54/month. = Me purchasing a SRT8!! Not sure why we couldn't get there...but needless to say they wanted a much higher payment than what I was willing to pay.

If Don wants to sell an '07 or '08 to me at the above numbers...just let me know!!:D

Meanwhile, I'll be making additional payments on my car to make the gap of negative equity smaller...so that someday soon...I'll be joining the SRT8 club!

Dont quite have the Grand Cherokee SRT8 yet, but ordered one through Lawrence Marshall, they are saying 4-6 weeks for delivery. Anyway I live in the Houston, Texas area. Spring to be exact for the Houstonians on the board. I currently have a 98 Black Trans AM (down for an engine rebuild, 189k miles on it) 06 Black Dodge Charger SRT8 just rolled over 10k and my beater is an 04 Grand Prix GTP. Its funny, i have never been a dodge/jeep fan. My wife has loved the charger since the day it came out. After owning the car i was in love so with it so much that I wanted one for myself. We decided that owning two Chargers was not really effective so I went and test drove a 07 GC SRT8. Absoulutely fell in love with the vehicle. Needless to say, ill try not to troll around to much but looking forward to meeting and seeing fellow srt8 owners. Soon I will have the best of both worlds.

Take care guys/gals I will soon own the coolest SUV made!

I've been lurking on and off for a couple of months. I appreciate this forum as a place to acquire great ideas and advice. To the many GCSRT8 enthusiasts with far more mechanical knowledge than I: Thanks for your help. My 2007 with 3000 miles has a billet antenna, U.S. Speed floor mats and a pre-ordered Diablo unit. I'm planning on the Elite oil catch can and possibly a BWoody CAI. I drive at 5000 ft and higher, so I'm not quite getting the same performance as most of you, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless...It's faster than my stock twin turbo 300ZX.

Hi,

Newbie here from the South Texas Gulf Coast. Been a 2007 Jeep SRT-8 owner since June. Only have a bit over 2,000 miles on the Black Beast thanks to lots of work, some travelling this summer, and some much needed surgery. Been driving it pretty regular as of late, though, and loving every minute of it.

Just started down the mod trail last month... First with a factory Mopar/Corsa exhaust system, followed shortly by a K&N drop-in filter in the stock airbox, and finally by a new PCM flashed to Stage II by B&G. Have a set of Kook's headers and high-flow cats on the way that should be here in a week or so... Right now the headers are on their way to the ceramic coating outfit.

Background is primarily in motorcycle racing, with a ten year stint with a team in Indy Car racing.

Have already learned quite a bit here about our trucks, and looking forward to having a great time and meeting some new people.

Thanks!

Dallara

Hi all!

I just bought my GCSRT8 2 days ago and I am STOKED!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this ride. I had to drive 300 miles to get it, but it was sooo worth it and the drive home too(especially the 2 passes on the way home)

I have since tinted and clear bra'd. I washed this beast 3 times already!!!

i can't wait to start modding, I have plans to black out the tails and trim the fronts. When I recoup from the initial expense I will be doing CAI and Exhaust, with plenty of others to come. I'm glad I found this forum, it's a great place to learn, so keep up the good work.

My first post, and thanks to all for making this a great forum.

The varied and detailed info available in this forum helped convince me to pull the trigger and get the GC SRT8. Just picked up a new, loaded '07, and after 5 days and 1000kms, I have to say I'm real impressed. This is going to be my daily driver, to go with my (modified) Porsche Cayman S summer/track car - the best of both worlds.

Soon to be one of Tirerack's best customers .....

Me and the wife just bought our first non vw in over 10 years back in april. After owning 13 vw's in that time and still owning a few like 6, I think we made the right choice, its a 2006 silver gcsrt8 fully loaded, with only 5,600miles.

Mods so far are mopar intake, 35% front window tint, I hope to chip it and do the exhaust.
