: I want to put on 22" rims
surface tension 08-06-2006, 12:18 AM I am wondering if anyone has found the perfect size tires for 22” rims for the SRT8? I know, I have read the previous thread on increasing the tire size and it seems like it got heated, but I just want to customize mine just a touch more. I love big rims and if I could I would put 24’s on my black SRT8 (I am not sure if they would even fit). I would appreciate the feed back and any pictures of your custom rims.
Black_SRT8 08-06-2006, 02:02 AM I want to put on 24's as well. I know it is feasible for the regular GC's, which the attached picture proves. With the smallest tires possible, can 24's be mounted on the SRT8 GC?
Inferno SRT8 08-06-2006, 09:43 AM Just remember anything over 20" will affect performance.
surface tension 08-06-2006, 01:32 PM I understand that and I have taken it into consideration(and it was a tough choice), but I am not sure what size tires will fit without rubbing. Does anyone know?
GRNENVY 08-06-2006, 03:25 PM I'm surprised you would even think of changing such a nice wheel. I really like the stock standards. ;)
smoove7410 08-06-2006, 04:59 PM you could fit a 24 with the new tire by toyo....the same ones used on 300s, chargers and magnums. They do not rub on the lx platform, so as long as you don't mind a very small side wall, 24's would probably work. I would stick with a 3-piece 22 inch rim myself, but to each his own. good luck and post some pics either way. :D
Yes, 24s can certainly be mounted up and as mentioned above, I'd go with the Toyo Proxes. GREAT tires. 24s are a bit bigger than I personally care for on any mid-sized SUV, but if it's what you want.... GO FOR IT. It'll definitely make it unique.
viol8r 08-06-2006, 11:34 PM I knew it would only be a matter of time..........
surface tension 08-07-2006, 11:36 AM You guys are right the rims that come stock on it are great. And I will be using them through out the colder months. Thanks for all the input and I think I will stick to a 3 piece 22" rim. I will post pictures as soon as they are put on.

I was hoping to see :eek:24's:eek: . Oh well, I cannot wait to see the pics!
split2112 08-07-2006, 04:25 PM 24s = not proportional
24s = not proportional
Exactly my feeling. I think 24s (and yes, I even like 26s in certain applications) look great on full sized SUVs, but our little Jeeps are much better suited for 22s, if you're into the big-rim thing. But like I said before-- it'd certainly be unique, and if 24s are what you want-- go for it!
It's all about what YOU like, not the rest of us.
Black_SRT8 08-07-2006, 04:47 PM 24s = not proportional
If you can fit it in the wheel well, it is proportional.
That's completely debateable. From a physical standpoint, I don't think anyone would argue with you that if it fits, it's doable...... but PROPORTIONAL? I'm not sure I personally see that logic.
This meets your criteria for being proportional then?

Black_SRT8 08-07-2006, 05:01 PM I am not looking to debate or contest, I am simply stating my opinion - I do not expect others to empathize with my paradigms.
Reference the aforementioned and posted Jeep, the rims are far from incoherent.
And yes, I find your 300C aesthetically pleasing:)
I'd choose different colors, but I actually dig that 300 too. But even though I like it, I don't think the wheels are even close to proportional. Would I change it? Nope-- if that ride was given to me I'd drive it exactly as it is. It's unique. The word proportional doesn't mean good or bad..... it means (according to dictionary.com): Properly related in size, degree, or other measurable characteristics
Black_SRT8 08-07-2006, 05:16 PM ^^^ Yeah, you are correct, proportionality is debatable~
The stance of that car is magnetic. Take of the green wheel inserts, that ride would improve tenfold.
I have a disdain for spaces in the wheel wells, so I try to fill them as much as possible.
I like filled wheel wells too..... my last ride:

Black_SRT8 08-07-2006, 07:45 PM Sweet ride!
26's?
Yup-- and it's for sale on ebay right now :)
shsuhemi 08-30-2006, 03:45 PM if you want to run 22s you can 285/35/ 22s and they will not rub. the offset in the front will need to be alittle different. you will notice this because of the 2 different tire sizes from the front to the rear tires. they have to be the same size but the 20s are the same radius and everything, but look different because the smaller rim in the front.
you can also run a 295/40/22 in front and a 305/40/22 in the rear. 24s wouls have to be test fitted to see if the would be too tall. just let me know if anyone is interested in a deal. better deals if you are in the houston, texas area
I'm running 265/35/22 and 295/30/22.
.2 inches difference in OD (within the allowed 1/4 inch of difference). I have zero rubbing at all.
Mine were built with a 35mm offset in the front and a 55mm in the rear.

what width's are your wheels? 9.5 and 10.5?
Yes. 9.5 front and 10.5 rear.
Mommy Wagon 08-30-2006, 04:44 PM Well then, if that's the case who wants to sell their Jeep SRT8 wheels!!!! I am combing Ebay daily, checking for written off G/C SRT8's, these wheels are impossible to get! I want them for my Mag SRT8!
Str8Srt8 09-11-2006, 10:52 PM Any photo shop pro's here to let us see what 30" wheels would like?
TIS has 30" wheels and Pirelli has the tires for them.

I have the stock wheels and tires, but they are sitting in storage right now, to se if I like the fit and feel of the new rims.
As for the 30s.... I've seen them in person at SEMA. Gorgeous wheels, but not for a smallish mid-sized SUV like the cherokee.

ha nice thats actually a photoshop pic.. (sorry some ppl don't know..) but that was the first truck i remember with 26's
shsuhemi 09-12-2006, 07:37 AM they have 32s now and they are plain. most of the wheels that are 28s and up there are only a few desighns unless you pay to have them built. there are also only 3 tires made so far some sizes only 2. At work when 30s first came out I had to learn how to mount them and it took me a while to get them on and they were soo freakin heavy. Working with Discount Tire I have worked on 22s,24s,26,28s,30s, and they were all fun to do but if the machine can't get them on there then I hate doing the work. The collest set of wheels I ever did was a set of 22.5s on e bagged dually. that was pretty cool.
I love the 22.5s. Were they Alcoas? Bagged duallys rock.
shsuhemi 09-12-2006, 10:14 AM yeah there are some around here running 22.5 with normal 18 wheeler tires and these trucks are huge.

MatFab 09-12-2006, 03:36 PM thats sickkkk... please tell me you supercharged it to let it get out of its own way...
I want a navigator but for my needs a suburban will work better, plus i will completely redo it anyways.. hmm a 2wd 6.0 supercharged burban..
MatFab 09-12-2006, 03:37 PM also could u send more pics of the install to my email if possible? layedoutnoma@yahoo.com.. also are the strips on the ground plexi or is the light coming from somewhere else?
No-- on that one, there were no performance mods at all. That was completely a show-y ride. Honestly I don't even drive fast, so a blower would've been wasted on there.
IF you want a Navi, but want it big, there is an extended Expedition coming out next year, and likely will be followed by a big boy Navi.

yea my mom works for ford and brought home the extended expe... they are nice but still no motor, and i want to be able to haul and such.. o well i got a good plan for a sweet burban
The strips on the cargo floor were brushed plexi, inlaid into a suede cargo are mat. They were end lit with green LEDs. I had some trick lighting stuff done on there.
Off (you can see a little reflection from somewhere else, but it was really just all black):

And here is why I'm loyal to Toyo. Not only do they supply the tires, they kept the ride clean, and hired models to guard it at shows :)

Anyone want to sell thier factory wheels let me know. I'd like summer/winter sets here in WNY.
csmalls 09-12-2006, 06:32 PM Can anyone tell me who makes these rims and what size they are? http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=294&d=1154851366
csmalls 09-12-2006, 06:50 PM Any links for TIS?
csmalls 09-12-2006, 07:35 PM Got it http://www.twentyinchesstrong.net/
Crank 11-21-2006, 09:37 PM i saw the gcsrt8 at the dub both at sema then i went to the oc dub show and i checked the tires on it. the front is a 255/30-24. didnt get the rear tire size but i have to admit the tires are really small and with these tires you will need a serious drop
correct me if i'm wrong, is that DUB GC with diff. interior color?
When DUB does a vehicle, they change nearly everything. While I didn't see the interior of it, I would assume that yes.... the interior is somehow different from stock.
Rick SRT 8 11-23-2006, 06:27 PM there's a set at ebay.

who would like to share this set an have one wheel of each side?
srt8suv 11-25-2006, 01:15 PM Ohoo HOT babe:p
halzas 11-25-2006, 05:01 PM I just bought a 2007 after driving a Cayenne Turbo for about a year. What a huge difference, this SRT-8 flies out of the whole and shows no let up. Having said that, I was talking to a guy at the dealership about ordering a larger factory cold air intake and exhaust. He thought this would add about 10 - 15HP? I'm considering it but don't want to give up the current "throaty" sound for "noise".
ky_soldier 11-26-2006, 10:21 PM halzas, do you miss the cayenne TT? I have one now and the warranty is about to expire (50k miles). I have had it three years, and was thinking about the SRT8, but concerned I'll miss all the cayenne creature comforts, air suspension, etc.
srt8suv 11-27-2006, 02:31 AM when i have the SRT8, I wont worry about the comfort:D
mike123 12-25-2006, 08:03 AM It's going to be hard to find 22's because of the clearance problems of the big front brake calipers just look @ the clearance on the stock rims to the front calipers
Not hard to find them that fit at all, if you know where to look. ANY multi-piece wheel maker, worth their salt will build them to spec.
StageFright 12-25-2006, 03:32 PM This looks nice.
http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=294&d=1154851366
OurZoo 12-25-2006, 09:52 PM Maybe a different set of 22s. I ain't feelin those.
PsychoSRT8 12-26-2006, 01:38 PM it might be the design of thos DUBs but they look too big for the jeep... maybe it's the overlay black on the chrome lip.
Goldengreek5 12-27-2006, 03:27 PM I'm still sittin on a set of 24's that I had on my ram. Tis 07's. Loved them, and I thought they would fit on the Jeep but they dont. Had them on ebay for a while, but I'm gonna wait till spring time comes around again to sell them.
Street WK 12-27-2006, 04:11 PM Those wheels on the DUB Jeep are 24's.
Black_SRT8 12-28-2006, 12:52 AM If only 24's did not hinder performance :(
