: Going from a black Gc to Silver - any regrets?
Razorecko 10-02-2007, 08:40 PM I currently have a black gc but hopefully i can get chrysler to buy it back (Fingers crossed) either way for my next car i'm starting to think about gettting silver - i love black but the weather here in chicago is so crazy that i can't keep the car cleaner for more than 2 days... so for any previous owners that went black to silver - any regrets ??
Jred22 10-02-2007, 08:42 PM I spent months debating between the two and went with silver, but i sometimes wish i would have gone black when i see our trucks murdered out.
Razorecko 10-02-2007, 08:46 PM Black looks sick ...but only when its clean...Especially the GC when its black and its dirty it really looks like every other suv out there. Also in silver for some reason it gives the perception that it looks bigger.
SRTYA 10-02-2007, 08:50 PM I to was torn the compromise for me was Steel Blue. I agree nothing looks better then a clean black SRT8 but that only last for about the first 15 miles then you need to wash it again. I have had a black wrangler three black mustangs and a black Mercedes. To me the Steel Blue is dark enough to look bad azz when really clean but not dark enough to show the slightest amount of dirt and dust or paint imperfections.
Regrets? Neither is Inferno. ha ha...
I would think the silver will be much easier to keep clean looking.
2BADGN 10-02-2007, 08:51 PM Silver is a really nice color on these jeeps. However, it is hard to beat black. I think that is it worth the extra effort in keeping it clean. Stick with black.
AGray34 10-02-2007, 09:49 PM i use to go all black, switched to silver. got sick of all the little blemishes showing up in the paint easily (viewable)

lol, yea like flying tire shine
PALELLA 10-02-2007, 09:54 PM Steel Blue FTW!!
a990dna 10-02-2007, 10:32 PM similar dilemma.. I can't decide between Steel Blue or Silver. I hestiate going with silver because it's more on the bright side.. designers should have toned it down some -- more like MB pewter. I've always thought GC's looked nicer (and smaller) in darker colors.
HOJeepster 10-02-2007, 10:38 PM I just picked up a silver one. Black is sick. I'd go all black.
toothmechanic 10-02-2007, 10:40 PM Go with black!!! It even looks baddazz when it is dirty!!!:D
NINOSRT8 10-03-2007, 05:46 AM I had an 06' Black GCSRT8 and could not deal with the swirl marks, light scratches, dirt, pollen, etc. I did exactly what you want to do. I now have an 07' Silver GCSRT8. I'm so glad I did, the truck always looks great!
jlandbl 10-03-2007, 06:11 AM I have silver, no regrets. I have had silver before and will stick with this color when possible. I have had black and midnight blue bimmers and don't miss the dark color.
cudadave 10-03-2007, 06:35 AM I have silver and love it.
I got rid of a black silverado ss to buy it. I have a black sc'd 96 Impala SS, and a black 04 Tahoe. I am sick of swirl marks and even the lightest scratches showing up everytime the sun hits it.
I don't regret it at all, it's dirty right now and still looks good, it's classy looking, and when I tint the windows and the tail lights it will even look better.
Just my $.02

SinOrSwim 10-03-2007, 06:38 AM I have only had blacks cars/trucks for the past 20 years, wash it once a week and you are good to go....
I wish Jeep used a nicer silver, like the other guy said... Maybe a pewter like MB. Gun Metal would be sick.
I'm going to either go with Steel Blue or Inferno Red. Of course my first choice would be to get Cadillac White!
AHurst 10-03-2007, 11:31 AM I have had many silver and black cars. Silver always was low maintenance, but when you washed it, the satisfaction factor was low because it hides dirt so well.
I went black on the GC because it looks so good when clean. I just committed before I bought it that I would have to clean it twice as often as a silver car.
craigs srt8 10-03-2007, 02:47 PM I went back and forth between black and silver right to the very end before deciding to go with silver. My Overland and Limited were black and when clean were beautiful but washing a car twice a week just took to much time. I must admit I'm very jealous when I see a black srt.
AHurst 10-03-2007, 07:26 PM Also the fact that black is the fastest color.
I always said I would not get a black vehicle again....But here I am with a black GCSRT8.....I tried to find silver though....Mine is dirty half the time because I dont have the time to clean twice a week, And Im running out of my car wash funds!
I Love it when its clean, I hate cleaning it...
2BADGN 10-04-2007, 08:26 AM Cleaning them is half the fun of owning one. I actually enjoy cleaning mine. It makes me feel good when its done and all cleaned up. A clean ride is a fast ride.:D

I forgot to mention, I have HARD water at the house.....Thats why it sucks....
And I have a crazy ritual to cleaning mine.....I will spend Hours and Hours out there...And I also wash the day before and wax the next morning...
2BADGN 10-04-2007, 09:17 AM Gotcha.....
Untouchable 10-04-2007, 09:31 AM black sucks to clean, but i think its fun and the car looks unreal for a few days. :D
JNK328 10-04-2007, 10:37 AM At first, silver was my last choice of the 4 colors in 07. When I decided to buy the truck, my dealer only had a silver one in stock. Needless to say, I LOVE the silver. IMO it is the most aggressive of the 4. The SRT "look" really stand out in silver. Tinted the tails and windows. Gives it a nice contrast.
Just my .02

SRTYA 10-04-2007, 02:27 PM Pulled this picture from a listing on e-bay. What more can I say the picture speaks for its self.
