Where do you live, the NE?
It's AWD with all season tires. I live north of Philly and we get some pretty decent storms, but they do a pretty good job of plowing/salting/brine prior to storm. If you ask me, these vehicles will do fine in a little snow. If the roads are that bad, you really shouldn't be driving anyway, whether you have an SRT 8 or Hummer H1 IMO ;)
mine is my winter vehicle here in Boston. should be ok. I drove a 600rwhp cobra for 2 winters. Like it was said before if it's that bad out you shouldn't be driving anyway.

ronald mcglothlin 08-02-2006, 10:29 PM The funny part I see about the replies to your question is if Jeep gets around well enough with the all seasons. WELL MEBEY IT DOES NOT NEED THAT MUCH POWER OR HANDLE THAT WELL OR STOP THAT WELL EITHER. I have one and we don't seem want to settle on other points. Every other performance point we think it is great but always want to improve.
larryc7777 08-03-2006, 08:11 AM My last 4 vehicles have all had factory tires that were totally unacceptable for winter driving. So, I had winter rims & tires for all of them. My GC has all-season tires that will probably work OK for winter driving, but not as well as dedicated winter tires, I'm sure. If I can locate a set of reasonably priced 18s or 19s that will fit my GC, I will probably get them and some winter tires to fit. Besides the benefit of better winter traction, I like to keep the winter chemicals off of my "summer" rims.:)

Larry - were any of those other vehicles AWD or 4WD? I really don't think an AWD vehicle needs snow tires in typical winter driving. Notice I write TYPICAL. This does not include driving on unplowed roadways during a blizard ;)
As for the snow tires, I don't believe they make run flat snows (I may be mistaken). So you better hope in the winter months you don't get a flat or you wil be SOL
EDIT: DID A QUICK SEARCH, AND LOOKS LIKE THEY DO MAKE RUN FLAT SNOWS, MY BAD. BUT I STILL DON'T SEE THE NEED, BUT I GUESS I WILL FIND OUT HERE IN A FEW MONTHS.
ronald mcglothlin 08-03-2006, 09:22 AM I still think doing good enough was the idea we would not have the SRT8 in the first place. If having better snow tires stops a possible accident then they were worth the trouble. Kind of like wearing your seat belt or air bags. I am still looking though.
akatheproducer 08-03-2006, 01:22 PM ive had a 1990,1994 cherokee limited and a 2004 escalade all 4wd and i put winter tires on all of them at the begining of the winter! ive been saved many times over by this investment !
by the way AWD, 4WD means nothin when you get to a red light and your on solid ice
akatheproducer 08-03-2006, 01:22 PM will other cherokee rims fit with the brembo's?
barho 08-03-2006, 02:03 PM by the way AWD, 4WD means nothin when you get to a red light and your on solid ice
true, but neither do snow tires on solid ice, unless those snow tires have serious studs, which here in PA are not allowed per PennDOT.

All of those vehicles had what Tire Rack calls "Ultra High Performance" tires. However, 2 of those vehicles DID have AWD....Mitsu 3000 GT VR4 and Audi S4. Even the AWD vehicles aren't for sh$t with the wrong tires. The GC has all season tires which will probably be OK for the normal Mid-West winter. But it would be nice to save my rims from the rigors of winter chemicals, if possible.
And I DID forget about not having a spare tire. This is the first vehicle that I have ever owned with run flat tires.

One of the biggest problems with all srt products and snow is winter tire choice. There are no good snow's in a 20. to open yourself up to a world of new tire possibilities you will need to switch to an 18 rim and tire. However finding an 18 to fit over the brembos is hard to do.
Someone on the charger forums test fit an 18 on his charger srt. it should fit our cars as for the brakes are the same.

akatheproducer 08-06-2006, 07:33 AM so they put the charger 18" rims ???????????
zen garage 08-07-2006, 10:23 AM no, they were not stock 18 charger rims, they were aftermarket. i will find the name and who sells them and let you know
akatheproducer 08-08-2006, 02:10 PM thank you brother
Luetic 08-15-2006, 04:55 AM Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow makes a 255/45vR20. You could put the same front and back. They don't make a 285/40ZR20. You also could have your tires siped. Do you have to put run flats on the rims? Can't you just put regular tires on for the winter?
I'm putting a set of the Ice & Snows on the Range Rover for the winter. Still debating for the SRT8.

Sure, but when your tires go flat in the winter, you're gonna be SOL ;)
