: 600+hp Turbo SRT8 Jeep
Jerod 08-01-2006, 01:31 AM Hennessey may have his issue and he may be an a**, but the guy knows how to make things fast. With a bit more psi that thing will definately be rediculous. I know there is alot of bad blood, but the video's still should be shown. There is TONS of potential with this vehicle.

Black_SRT8 08-01-2006, 06:54 AM The SRT8 GC in the video does not launch hard - 0-60 in 3.7 may be hyperbolic.
From a video paradigm, the GSM supercharger is a better deal.
Dr.Steve 08-01-2006, 07:04 AM And the real question is whether or not I'd leave my baby in JH's hands for the work to be done. . . and after all the recent thread nonsense, he'd have a better chance ripping the steering wheel from my cold dead hands
El Jefe 08-01-2006, 10:21 AM dyno sheet?
omegaman 08-01-2006, 11:37 AM And the real question is whether or not I'd leave my baby in JH's hands for the work to be done. . . and after all the recent thread nonsense, he'd have a better chance ripping the steering wheel from my cold dead hands
Exactly. I was seriously contemplating shipping mine to JH to have something similar done but not now. Granted, all I have to go on is the word of others but from what I've heard (and from what I've seen JH post) it will be a cold day in hell before she ever leaves my sight. Unless, of course, GSM gets good reviews for their upgrades and then I guess she's off to California. To me, 15K for that kind of added horsepower and performance is a bargain but not at the added expense of sleepless nights worrying about it.
shodanusmc 08-01-2006, 11:46 AM I would not let JH work on my Mother-in-Laws car.....unbelievable.
Jerod 08-02-2006, 02:06 AM I knew that would happen... I don't see anyone else stepping up to the plate with those kind of numbers? I am not saying send your vehicle there, it is a great value, he is a nice, or a fair guy. Just saying check out that SRT8....that is all.
ShagnumSRT8 08-02-2006, 11:16 AM Damn thing looks pretty fast to me.
omegaman 08-02-2006, 11:33 AM I knew that would happen... I don't see anyone else stepping up to the plate with those kind of numbers? I am not saying send your vehicle there, it is a great value, he is a nice, or a fair guy. Just saying check out that SRT8....that is all.
Point taken. I'll give credit where credit is due. Even if those numbers are inflated (I'm not saying they are), he's still built what looks to be a damn fine machine. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds? I'm skeptical. A 4 wheel drive monster? Absolutely. I just wish that I had peace of mind so that I could ship mine down there.
Dr.Steve 08-02-2006, 11:44 AM agreed omegaman
Jerod 08-02-2006, 12:43 PM You don't need piece of mind in him...just let him supply the big power ideas and then run with them somewhere else ;)
GSMSales 08-10-2006, 11:06 AM I second your opinion....
The SRT8 GC in the video does not launch hard - 0-60 in 3.7 may be hyperbolic.
From a video paradigm, the GSM supercharger is a better deal.
GRNENVY 08-10-2006, 11:48 AM I have been around turbo mustangs for years and turbo on this truck would be the same thing. With a turbo you will loose all that nice snappy feeling you have in the pedal. I like Blowers on street cars because you don't loose the inital tq that you would other wise have with a turbo spooling it up. I would pick the supercharger for the street. I'm putting a new kenny bell 2.6 on my cobra right now I could have went turbo but the blower is more fun for daily driving. Also turbos run real hot
srt8suv 08-20-2006, 02:44 PM Did they consider revising the price of the Turbo Kit? how much it is now?
Where did they mount the Turbo? remote? on one side of the manifolds? the picture doesnt say anything beside twin BOVs.
myself, I would conisder its a very good job to do that turbo kit for this vehicle with the limited space for the installtion. unlike the supercharger, u would not need that much of space which make it much easier to do one.
Thanks
radduc 08-21-2006, 08:13 AM I would do the GSM SuperCharger before a Turbo in a second.Besides JH has burned too many bridges for me to give him a 2nd,3rd,4th,5th, chance
AVENGED7FOLD 08-24-2006, 10:37 PM i don't know but my srt 8 is going to J H they r picking it up from fl to tx on sept 7 TBH i can't wait with that kind of power i drove my dads Porsche Cayenne s turbo thought that was badass but the jeep is the king

Your a brave man. That Guy as burned more customers than the government!!do a search on the viper fourms or 300c. Hes known for taking parts of customer rides to finish other customer cars. But **** is your money!

AVENGED7FOLD 08-25-2006, 02:43 AM having second thoughts don't know what to do now cuz the kit is too pricey...thinking about the GSM supercharger since i was willing to spend alot
El Jefe 08-25-2006, 10:33 AM Come on buddy. Every single forum on the internet has some story or another about John Hennessey. Save yourself the trouble. Have you heard GSM scamming people? I havent.
radduc 08-25-2006, 05:17 PM Please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from JH!!!! GSM are a GREAT bunch of guys and can give you just as much HP,for less money, and you get what is priceless,A PICE OF MIND!
I have riden in a Hennessey Jeep SRT600 and it is the real deal. I also saw it run 12.5 @ 110 in the 1/4 mile after being driven to the track on a hot day. This is the quickest and most powerful Jeep SRT8 on the road until proven otherwise.
This is what you call first hand factual experience as opposed to internet hearsay bashing.
ronald mcglothlin 08-25-2006, 08:44 PM The problem with what we read here about and mebey from Hennessey will always make a person wonder. I don't think the cars are not real but the trust is not there weather deserved or not. Will he stand behind his work or not. It may or not be deserved but it sure can't build trust.
AVENGED7FOLD 08-25-2006, 11:11 PM hey! all its all settled they r picking it up the jeep on sept 7 maybe i am dumb but don't care ill be taking trips to TX to see how they r doing with the upgrade i'll keep yall updated

You are correct - the videos leave more to be desired. However, subtracting 1.5 seconds from a stock 0-60 time is extremely difficult, thus, admirable, even if it costs $17,000 to do so.
El Jefe 10-14-2006, 03:36 PM a 600hp lightning would be running low 10's....and the L weighs around 5000 lbs and its rear wheel drive.

JeffsSRT8 01-02-2007, 04:34 PM GSM added supercharger, headers, port and polish , exhausts, switch to shut off traction control and another switch to shut off 4WD..I blacked out the chrome and tails and it looks mean . ( except it is too high with big gap from tire to wells)
The truck is a rocket and they did great work.
All I need now is ECU programming and TCM work plus some larger wheels or lowering kit and I will be living large
This is 1 fun truck

08GCSRT-8 02-06-2007, 09:12 PM So how is the new ride? Worth the money?
Se7en 02-06-2007, 09:58 PM I'd be really excited if Lingenfelter got involved with the Hemi game. I've spent a lot of time (ten years) in the Corvette circles and I've only heard one person (ever) complain about his LPE car (and that's just cuz he was making waaaay too much power). Under enough heat and pressure even diamonds will break.
I don't think that I'm allowed to point to other sites but if you care to check out their classified section you'll see some very nice work (mostly vettes tho).
I'd love to have the first built LPE JGC SRT8 but cannot afford it.
(Mods please let me know if I'm overstepping here).

I didn't actually directly reference the terms of use, but I assumed that pointing to a non-sponsoring vendor would perhaps be out of taste (even if it isn't a DC centric vendor).
AVENGED7FOLD 02-07-2007, 06:17 AM So how is the new ride? Worth the money?
when the car is launching it feels like its doing a wheelie haha the turbo sounds badass. and yeah worth the wait too
HoustonSRT-8 02-07-2007, 07:33 AM I hope it serves you well. I wouldn't have the balls to take that kind of chance with that much money.
Hallstar 02-07-2007, 03:13 PM 12.5 for 17k...inferno is at 12.5 at about 5k and he didn't pad a jacka#4's pocket who is probably without a doubt the most notorious rip off artist of the modern era!!! Maybe times are changing in Texas but they will do all their changing without my help...I'm not saying you made the wrong decision in your turbo set up because I applaud all mods done to the JEEP and I'm sure it's badass but wait till a problem occurs...that will clearly let you know if you made the right decision and if not I guess you'll be at Little People conventions trying to find his ass to fix your truck!!!;)

I'm new to this forum. I'm glad I found it. First off I want to take my hat off to Jeep for building real sport utility SUV. You guys have a great platform to work off, congrats. I myself have a 3rd Gen Ford Explorer and have done some pretty intense work to it, fully built motor, SC etc. Did Fords work for them. But non the less im glad to see there is finally a fast SUV I can run against, or try and run with. Hopefully some of you are from CA and maybe we can meet up at Barona some time.
Back to this quote. Someone correct me if im wrong, but 620hp is not referring to RWHP. Or is it?
awdrocks 05-08-2007, 12:59 PM Ok he just upped his price and made it faster.... Its now going for 79k and now does 0-60 in 3.4 sec and 1/4 in 11.9.
What I find weird is that he has all these videos of farting around on the streets but doesn't have a vid of his 11.9 or 12.1 sec runs, or a dyno pull or sheets? Either way if this is a real 620rwhp STR8 he should easily be in the 10's.
Seems to me it has really about 500rwhp and 620bhp. There should be about a 20% drivetrain loss after the awd, auto etc.

We've talked about this as well. His website has a video of the Jeep SRT600 doing the quarter in 12.2 at his own dragstrip, but then he advertises that it runs 11.9 via Driftbox data. He owns his own dragstrip, but can't get a video of the 11.9 it supposedly runs.....

Your right I have seen that video... its a rear shot I think. Yeah this guy seems a little shady. But non the less if it is a 500rwhp STR8 it should be capable of a 11.9 sec run.
I have my own website but its currently under construction. Its mexicoracing dot com.
I should hopefully have it up soon. I have all the pics of my X there... motor build and everything. Or is you want send me your email through PM and ill send you the pics.
If this guy stroked the motor etc, he obviously built it very stout, I don't know why it doesn't have 620rwhp with a turbo like that. I seem to have read that there is still tuning issues with the computers, maybe its detuned. Any idea how much boost he is running?

I wouldn't let Hennessey wipe my Jeep with a towel, much less work on it.
Dr.Steve 06-06-2007, 11:26 AM I spoke to the owner of a custom shop here in NJ a couple of days ago who told me that he had arranged for and sent a customer's truck to JH for a TT upgrade on his SRT-10, when I asked the guy if he knew anything about JH he said not really, I strongly advised him to investigate and wished him good luck. He said the first estimate JH gave him listed a Torque converter for $2600!!!!. . . when the owner of the shop talked to him the price was brought down to $1100. . . whew, what prices!. . . I warned the owner of the shop to check all the JH parts when / if he gets the truck back, and make sure they're not stockers with JH stamps.
Steve
SCSRT8Fan 06-27-2007, 10:36 AM I'd venture to say that this could be done for 15k or so, opposed to the 37k tag I saw, but that's just speculation based on experience with other vehicles.
Then there's STS Turbo setup. One may be able to pull that together for under 10k. Anybody done that with the SRT8 yet?
I prefer supercharging. I really want to see some good Kenne Bell and Whipple Twin Screw mods opposed to these centrifugal chargers, though. I'm not sure how well the drivetrain will hold up though.
PALELLA 07-27-2007, 11:21 PM I heard about the Hennessey turbo SRT8 and was pretty intrigued. Not any more though. It seems like Hennessey is a total tool. After reading some of his forum posts, I wouldn't want my car within a few miles of the guy.

Holy cow that Viper Alley is something else, I 'bout peed myself reading the posts over there, those guys don't fug around and bust nuggets HARDCORE. Funny...
Incredibly long story short; Hennessey sucks out loud, PERIOD. Anyone who clues themselves in with the search feature here, the 300C forum, Viper forums, etc., and still gives him money deserves exactly what they're going to get...nothing! Total azz clown...

Did you click on PALELLA's links?
That guy has hosed people over for 100s of thousands of dollars. Seems people with more money than brains, and perhaps haven't heard of the internet or know how to do research continue to go to him when there's other equally if not more talented shops out there (like Heffner for example).
Go on-line to the BBB and run his name. A search of local (civil) court records is unbelievably lengthy. There's a reason why he doesn't take credit cards any more either; he can't from all the chargebacks.
Anyone who spends one red cent with that azz clown has got it coming...

I think someone tried to contact STS about their system for the Jeep and there were refered to JH. Something about an exclusive.....

OK, so if that's the case and JH has the exclusive...
Then it isn't an option! :D
(at least as far as I'm concerned)

inflyte21 08-04-2007, 07:48 PM I'm a newbie and was considering ordering the header and Corsa catback exhaust along with their intake....NOT!! Now after viewing certain threads I will reconsider my options. When I decided to call them and ask for pricing for those items they indicated cash, money order or certified check.... That made me a little hesitant about doing business. If you have a business you will accept most types of credit!!! Hell even McD's take debit....geezzz... What I'm looking for was and exhaust and intake. Not sure if it's worth it for the exhaust... Any assistance would be appreciative. :D
jps043 11-09-2011, 02:48 PM Was doing a little searching on the forum and came across this thread. I just wanted to bring it back from the dead to show everyone how far we have come over the past few years. Sift through this thread, it's very interesting. The options and technology in the Hemi community today are light years ahead of where they were in 2006.
Most importantly I just wanted to give a shout out and a thank you to all the vendors and pioneers who have made today's advancements possible. This thread stands to help us realize how fortunate we are. For all of you who have contributed, your work does not go un-noticed and I personally thank you. Keep up the good work guys.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
John

navyavi469 11-09-2011, 03:00 PM I remember the monkeyballers, lmao... what a joke.
What did JH run, 10.88 on an unshiftable TT426 with a puff of massive cloud of smoke at the end of the track and a midget hiding under a blanket setting off the traps early.
Yes, we've come quite a long way.
I just hope the Jeep crowd doesn't change too much, this is such a great bunch. Seems like another WK2 posting-up every day from the X5 and ML crowd and already complaining about the "stiff ride". I guess they're a necessary evil though, how else am I going to afford a used one if some sucker from the import crowd doesn't impulse-buy an SRT and then dump it in a year or two.
Harrison@Stage6 11-09-2011, 03:25 PM Yeah..... Henny's Jeeps running 10.7's and 10.8's with a 426TT is comical back then when considering I'm running 10.5's with a stock bottom end and a single turbo. Too funny.

Not everyone can be super awesome like you :)
