surface tension 07-31-2006, 10:48 PM I live in Salt Lake City, UT and just purchased a black srt8 with ep in Dallas. It is 1200 miles away. Should I wait 3-4 weeks for delivery or should I fly down there tomorrrow and drive it home and put all those miles on it? The up side would be that I would have time to break it in right. Do what makes you comfortable. copmagnet 07-31-2006, 11:28 PM I broke mine in the minute I drove out of the dealership and have had a great time since then. I've heard some say 500 miles to break-in and others have said it really doesn't "open up" till 3,000 miles.It's really never been proven. Either way, the quicker you put them on, the quicker you find out. It sounds like you already made up your mind about when your taking delivery. You should be able to arrange your own enclosed transport and have it within a week, 1200 miles would cost you about $1500 with a reputable transport company like Newman International or Weber Transport, etc. I always have mine transported. mainly b/c I don't like to drive them much until I have a clear bra installed (note: many complaints here about paint chipping on facia). Got mine on Saturday in Fort Worth (local for me) and it's sitting in my garage until the clear is on (hopeful I will be able to get that done Friday along with tint). JeepSRT 08-01-2006, 06:42 PM Go get it, I just got mine 3 weeks ago in Salt Lake City, Bountiful, and drove it back to Colorado. They say take it easy and vary speeds for the first 300 miles.
