They held a drifting/autoX event at the raceway today!

I disabled 4wd and tried out drifting....... I had to argue... the guys are really blinded and thought that if they let me drift in the Jeep, they would have to let every vehicle type in. It was very fun and I've now totalled out my second set of tires in well under 9000 miles. I need a lot more practice drifting. I mostly just burned rubber and did donuts on the course :D

The autoX was a whole new thing. Not like the sprints we usually do for national race days. There was everything from a tuned out porsche 911 to an RX-7. Couple mini's and a really sweet 350z supercharged. They had two classes .... unmodified and modified. I got stuck with the porsche and the 350z. The course had two straights with S's built in. A short straight into a u-turn. Around a bend and then a lap around a circle..... back into another u turn through some more S's and then the finish. Dam turn radius of the Jeep combined with the very narrow lanes was more than challenging. :D

I had the 2nd fastest time in the modifieds..... I was about 5 seconds off the Porsche's time but I did beat the 350Z.

Total blast.... tomorrow is a test & tune and I was thinking of disabling 4wd and trying the quarter with 2wd. I would love to see 12's but the weather here is still a bit too warm and humid. 90+°F today.

With the t-case turned off, did the truck have posi or did it do one-wheel-peels? I want to try to drift mine, but I thought the rear diff would just go open once the weight transferred and it went into a slide.

Good question..... It looks like posi.... I should snap a pic of the burnout I did in front of the house. 2 very nice tracks for about 30'. I am not sure why it seems to do this. It's very clearly one wheel peel if you power brake, however

I got mine to do a posi powerbrake. Once both wheels were rolling, I dumped the brakes and the truck left 20' twin marks, but as soon as it cut the wheel to throw it sideways, it went open and only the inside spun. I only tried it once, though, in a small parking lot at work.

When I was drifting..... it seemed like both wheels spun. But I noticed some corners the one wheels is definitely favored.

This thing is a totally different beast with 2wd only. :D

Nitro iam sure u would love it drifting with 2WD but take care and dont abuse using the 2WD; else you would be suffering from transfercase issues which i suffered for over a week thankfuly my car was on warrenty but it really costed them much. just my 2 cents :) Take a Vid next time and show us bro we gotta see that beast spin

The truck doesn't quite feel right since re-engaging the 4wd. I am not sure what it is..... could be tires

Some pics from the auto cross! ;)

I just pulled the EDCM fuses. Two of them labeled pretty clearly 25amp if I remember correctly. I'll try and snap a pic
