I miss the days when I used to take my Audi S4 to ski at various mountains around New England and do "cookies" in the snow covered parking lots.

So today it was drizzling out and I had to kill a few minutes in an industrial area by my office (sounds like a decent excuse right?)

All 3 attempts in the video are with the ABS Pump fuse pulled, and in all 3 attempts I couldn't light up all 4 tires at once. My diagnosis is that when the traction control system is completely off then all 3 differentials are completely open and all the torque goes to whichever two wheels have the least traction.

Maybe I'll try again with the fuse installed, or if an oversteer was induced that might get the rear tires spinning first.

Anyway here it is.... 4 meg WMV file CLICK HERE (http://www.6pod.com/idealrides/SRT8/3tries.wmv).

~ In the Midwest, we call them "donuts"

~ I really enjoy the videos, keep posting!

~ Your exhaust is deafening - what type of system do you have?

When you do a stationary donut in an all wheel drive car some people call them cookies because the car spins on its own axis in one place. For example, in the biginning of THIS VIDEO (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1963133367989543595&q=donut+AWD) there is a small cookie in the middle of a donut, right before the engine stalls. I know I can do donuts but I was trying to do a cookie. Damn I'm getting hungry now.

I replaced my stock muffler with straight pipe and 3" noise baffles, and kept the stock resonators. Yeah it's pretty loud (actually too loud) but just temporary until I find a nice catback.

I would never drive my STi like that on such a skinny road, knowing my luck I would have ran into that pole! I wait til it snows a lot and find big empty parking lots.

I tried to do a straight line smokey but could only get the rears to break loose. I left all fuses connected. The only thing I did was powerbrake it after hitting the ESP button.

nice vid! amazing how hard it was, especially on soaked pavement, to break it loose.

How hard were you whipping the steering wheel around and where were the rpms at?

Everyone should take their GC out this weekend and try this and get videos!!!!!!

I think my steering wheel was at full lock, and I wasn't looking down at the gauges so I don't know what the RPM's were... but it seemed like she upshifted to 2nd then maybe even 3rd. It took a little while for one of the tires to slow down each time, that's the sqealing sound you can hear every time I give up. Also you can hear the infamous kerchunk sound when I shut off the engine!

If and when I try this again, I'd like to know what to do differently to get better results. For example, leave the ABS fuse in place and/or get a running start before turning the wheel. Of course I could also "cheat" by dumping a few bottles of liquid soap or oil on the ground, that should get all 4 tires spinning! I think thats what they did for that rap video where they have the black Diablo with it's scissor doors open doing a long cookie in front of a group of people at night.
