OK,
I was about to order all the LEDs below from AutolLumination and was wondering if anyone had any other advice on the choices since there are so many.

In one of Mango pictures of the rear handle lights, the color appeared to be a little more bluish. My goal is for more of a pure white.

For the license plate lights should I use a light a Tower with lights on all sides or one that just shoots light down?

As for the 44mm festoons, will these work best?

Thanks in advance for all the advice!

This thread might not be the correct one to enter this info in but here are the lamps in detail...

- (2) Map lights: Factory is a "ring loop" 212-2 I believe. It is a 44mm however, I replaced with a 1-1/2" festoon without the ring loop. It is a little shorter but works fine. You can just use Autoillumination's 44mm Ring loop, should work. I went with a 9-LED as the diamter of the bulb is the same. You can use a "super" LED however it has a square block and may be to large to fit. TIP: If you want more light, leave the "bottom" reflector out. Someone here made that suggestion and I agree... MUCH more light.

(NOTE: On the Map festoons, there are "many" choices. It is your call)

- (2) Visor: Autoillumination only makes one lamp for this. It looks "exactly" like a fuse (31mm x 5mm) and only Chrysler makes it. It is halfway down on the "festoon" page.

- (2) Rear grab handles: Factory #194. Change out with whichever LED you like but it sould illuminate "around" the lamp not just out the tip. (These seem to be the lamps that stay illuminated all the time. (They do go out after about 5-10 minutes after you close/lock the car up though. I am still messing with this but I think jusr switching the polarity may work. Just haven't done it yet.

- (1) Glove box: Factory #194. Same as Grab handles

- (2) Foot well: Factory # 906: Autoillumination #921: TIP: You can make these "MUCH" brighter by leaving off the round lens-cover. The LED should only be out the "tip" on this lamp

- (1) Rear Hatch: Same as footwell

- (2) License Plate: Factory #194. I know this isn't interior but "what an improvement!". Again. like someone posted earlier.

Below is my PayPal receipt of the exact bulbs I ordered through Autoillumination. I have used them a few times and always great product and service. FYI, they are out of AZ.

The first picture is the one I have in my rears and I use the 5 LED Matrix for 6.99 for the license plate. You can get brighter and spend more moolah if that's your thing, but I think they are purrfect. This is the same one for the glove compartment as well if memory serves me correct.

Do any of the vendors here have a "LED Interior/Exterior Kit"???

I haven't seen or heard of a vendor that's done it yet, but I could be wrong. I know I've seen interior LED kits on Ebay for the LX bodies. I use the same map lights, vanity lights, glove light, and rear passenger lights in both vehicles.

OurZoo,
Do you have any photos of how dim they are?

Is there a preference between the supertar and supernova? Which one produces more of a white glow?

Just keep them away from heat, these things are cheap.

You're not very specific regarding exactly which bulbs you are referring to, but I will tell you, and anyone interested in purchasing them this. Don't know your experiences, or with what vendor, but here's mine with Autolumination and all their products, both interior and exterior.

Have had them in other rides, and in the Jeep for over 30,000 miles and over a year and a half now. Absolutely no problems with bulbs or resistors. They work well, and I am very pleased.

And keep them away from what heat? The Exhaust?

Can anyone confirm if the map lights are loop ended festoon bulbs (44mm)?

Thanks in advance....

No!
You wanna either get the 44mm 9LED Festoon $6.99 or the 36LED Array $14.99. I've run both but currently use the arrays in both vehicles. They are probably 20% brighter. BTW, 39 mm will work as well.

Did you order it in the cool or warm white version? What is with the SMT 25 light versions for $25?
How did you install them and do they rattle?

Have you tried the other 44mm festoon for $9.99?

Cool white I believe. I'm not sure about those SMT 25s. You can always experiment as I did. Then you'll at least have a back up if you don't like 'em. You have to pull out one of the metal shields, but other than that the arrays just rest in there with no rattles.

Did you use one or two 44mm Array boards?

According to the guys at SuperLumination, the 25 LED Array is thinner than the 36 Array so it should fit...

I really appreciate the help.

Teda I've had trouble with the interior lights, some completely die and some after a while only light up dim. Some of them work perfectly for years but the ones that fail usually crap out after a few days or weeks. I've bought at least 50 bulbs from autolumination and it's only the newer brighter models that have given me any problems. Just my .02 :(

Ordered the lights and got them all in! One problem is the light cover on the rear hatch. The part that holds the light is not secure, so when I try and put the cover on it just pushes it back into the panel.

It looks like I need to take the rear hatch panel off. I've never taken panels off before. I took a few off the screws out and I see some white plastic pieces holding the panel on. Do I just pull really hard to get the panel off? Will these break?

Any other suggestions on how to get the light cover back on?

I have had the same problem with the rear. Falls out sometimes. That and I just cannot find one I've been real happy with. Nothing emits enough light from that teeny, tiny hole lol.

Thank you!!!

One more question. Seems the lights want to stay dim when the ignition is on! Every light now stays on when I'm driving:confused:

The right map light has burned out 3 leds and wants to flicker. I will try taking that one out and see if that helps.

Somewhere you have one of the LEDs reversed and that is causing your problem.
