Although I enjoy being one of the few around these parts with this truck...I would like to see how many are in the area so that we could do a meet sometime.

Anyone? Buhler? Buhler?:)

I've got a place in Sherwood..... but I don't get in town that often anymore. Did you pick yours up from T&C? I will be in town in Oct. What parts do you hang out in. I'd love to show people the Jeep since I can't bring mine over. :D

Got mine from D i c k's Country Dodge/Jeep. My company does business with his...so he gave me a nice deal.

I'm in the Beaverton/Tanasbourne area...let me know, I'd like to see what you've done.

To see mine just check out my site.... http://www.bukerworld.com/gallery2/v/Jeep_SRT

I doubt you would want to visit Saudi Arabia. I do have to get some new pic's up. I've had the windows all tinted... & changed out the rotors for cross drilled/slotted ones from www.brakeworld.com.

I go to U of O; however, I do not have an SRT8. I am from SW Portland. I have a 98 5.9 liter grand cherokee with heads, cam, and most other basic bolt ons. I have run a best of 13.8 at 100 mph at PIR, but that was in 2wd because my front driveshaft blew up. I'm hoping to run mid 13s next time I go. Maybe I can meet some SRT8 owners at the track sometime. I did get behind the wheel of a SRT8 WK for about 5 minutes and got a SRT8 300c for a few days. Both were quite nice, I expected the SRT8 to launch harder than it did, but I guess I didn't quite launch it as hard as possible.

Howdy from Hillsboro. I don't have a GCSRT8, I have a CSRT8 300C. Got mine from D i c k ' s in Hillsboro.

I've watched a GCSRT8 launch at Woodburn this summer and was impressed by the 60 foot and 1/4 mile times!

I was looking for a track to run my truck...and I wasn't sure if Wilsonville is an option...or if its just PIR. Have you gone to either one and run your car?

robertk59
11-13-2007, 11:21 AM
I have been to PIR probably 5 or 6 times in the last 4-5 years. There is a track in Woodburn, but I have never been there. I think PIR is probably closed for the season, or close to it. But if you ever plan on hitting up the track, send me a PM. I'd love to race my 5.9 vs. an SRT8.

bankrman

Yeah...PIR is closed. Booo

Next spring we'll have to take em out and run em. By spring time I should be done with almost everything I'm doing to my truck...which isn't much.

I've never been to a track...and its something I've wanted to do since I bought the truck....so it would be good times!

Vancouver, Wa here.

Yeah, I wanna run my '07 as well. I go to PIR quite often for the Cruise-In
in the summer on Wednesdays but they only run the 1/8 on those days. That just doesnt interest me.

I keep thinking I'll go down there sometime on a Saturday when they do the 1/4, but so far I havent made it.

Never been to Woodburn either.

Maybe need to give it a shot next season.

Gents,

I've run both tracks with my CSRT8 and prefer Woodburn. It's a sanctioned track, is better maintained and you get a lot more runs in. It's also a full 1/4 mile track, all the time.

Yes, you have to drive further but it's worth it. Cost to run on a Friday Test & Tune is $25. The first time you show up each year you pay a one time $10 competition fee and get a card that shows you've paid it.

If you want, I'll post specific dates and info here, under another thread, when I get the Dodge/Chrysler LX group together for a Test & Tune Session next year. We go a lot!

Hi from West Linn,

Supposed to pick up my 2008 black srt-8 from **** Hannah in Vancouver WA Friday. Traded in my 2006 Taureg which I only had for a year. Also bought from **** Hannah.Underpowered piece of junk. They let me out of my lease two years early without penalty as long as I bought a car from one of their dealerships. I was going to buy a srt-8 then but made the mistake and bought the Taureg.

Hannah had my 2008 brought in from Burlington WA as they didn't have any srt-8s and I wanted a 2008 and they won't trade with a local dealership for one.

Well I got a call today that they found an imperfection in the paint on the hood and are going to strip it paint it again and clearcoat it. Now I have to wait a week to get it. At least they gave me a 5.7 GC Limited to drive.

Will post again when I finally get it.

Yes, I like that I have seen only one other SRT8 since I bought mine.

We could form a local club...but I'm definitely interested in comparing notes about local custom shops, tint shops etc that do or dont do a good job on our cars. Local pacific nw info would be helpful!

I haven't got my SRT8 yet, but I've been in contact with Don at Champion Jeep and have decided to wait until springtime to get mine. I test drove one last year and have not stopped thinking about it yet, so I'm trying to wait until spring but having a real hard time.

Will do. When the Woodburn schedule firms up for 2008, I'll post in a new thread with the Friday Test & Tune days. Track opens at 3PM, racing starts around 3:40 to 4PM until dark. They don't have lights there.

Thx MD,

I agree, dates, times, etc would be great.

One afternoon/evening in July I got in 12 runs and took about an hour's break during the racing. So, you can get in a lot of runs depending on how many cars show up. It's a great venue for a club to bring in members as they will let you run against one another (different staging area) and Friday T&T sessions tend to be lightly attended unless there is a super large event scheduled for the next day.

Portland here, I see a few around but very few. One of the benefits. Is there a local club forming?

I'm a member of a forum driven group over at LXForums.com and ***************. I work with local members to organize regular and large events. We even have monthly get togethers during the fall & winter. Some of our summer events included a cruise to Mount St. Helens (48 cars showed up), a picnic at Rainbow Falls State Park just outside of Chehalis, Wa (37 cars that time), the aforementioned drag racing (biggest crowd for one T&T was 28 cars) and then, early this month we gathered in Tigard for indoor karting! Next month, it's food, beer and bowling at Park Lanes in Hillsboro.

Now, no one in this PNW LX group has said, "No Jeeps!" so anyone of you are welcome to join in on some of the fun we are having. I'll do what I can to post up regular events as they come up on the other forums if you are interested.

Hey! Go for it. A local, GC group, would be a fine thing!

As far as tinting, there's only one place in town I would trust to do an excellent job and one that I know who totally stands behind their work and that's

Tommy's Window Tinting, SE 12TH & Belmont, Portland.

He's done every vehicle I or my wife have owned since 1996.

He's also hooked up with custom shops, wheel / tire shops, painters, etc...good guy to know if you need some sources. He recently tinted my CSRT8 and put a Clear Bra on it to protect the front fascia, mirrors and rear bumper fascia.

Here's a link to his website:

http://www.tommyswindowtinting.com/

If you go see him, let him know Michael sent ya. I don't get anything for it but he likes to know where his business is coming from.

I'm gonna finish up with story about what kind of folks Tommy, and his wife Lisa, are.

When Tommy did my tint and clear bra earlier this year, he got slammed at the shop and couldn't finish up. He called me at work and told me what had happened. No biggie, I could take the MAX home and call the wife to come get me. But he said, "No, we are going to come pick you up and you can take Lisa's Mercedes home. Use it until we get yours done." Of course, I asked him if this was OK with her and he said, "She doesn't know about it but it's cool." :D

OK, I'm outta here for now. Take care, fellas! Hope to see you around.

ps: Love the GCSRT8...very cool vehicle ya got there.

There are a lot of posts in the performance section covering these mods...and the hp gains you can expect...just browse around. :D

Where are you located? What shop are you going to use to install all of these mods??

I will ask if they know of any shops, but I doubt there are any speed shops in the area with turbo experience on hemis.

The Beaches thing is worth going to, only problem is they run ET drags not heads up.
There is also Woodburn Dragstrip on August 1 the Thunder Truck Drags are going on. It would be cool to see how many jeepSRT8's we can get from the NW. We could also callout the TBSS guys for a fun day.

Yes, I went on Sat. the 23rd. Since I have the broken piston land in cyl. #1, I only made 8 runs. The check engine light never came on the whole time I was there  Anyway, the best time I got was 12.2 @ 112. My reaction time was .798. If my engine doesn't show up soon, I may go again. Beaches car show opens this coming Wed. the 3rd. Am planning to go, but not doing the 1/8 mile. If you go, make sure you tip my daughter Staci (tall blond) who will be working in the beer and liquor area. Here's the time slip if you can see it?
