: What would you change in the JC SRT8 ???
notsag 09-03-2007, 06:05 PM I{m very happy with it but for starters I would:
Have a 6th gear or a taller overdrive so that we wouldnt use as much gas in a most unecessary way.
Larger gas tank
Ipod adapter direct connect
Cylinders that would turn off at highway speed.
What else would you add/delete for/from the beast?
PALELLA 09-03-2007, 06:21 PM I would have an ASM Supercharger come as a factory option.
1BAMFR 09-03-2007, 06:34 PM I wouldn't change anything, But I think the SRT8 would look really sick if they started offering it in Pearl White so my wife would get one too.
Barrie34 09-03-2007, 06:51 PM I would like to see a power lift gate incorporated into the '09 JGC SRT8 without changing anything to the rear of this great looking vehicle. Just like the Jap Suv's have that can be activated from the rear and the dash panel.:)
Jtrain 09-03-2007, 07:07 PM Thats all the things I've complained about. nothing else actually.
A lease deal woulda been nice lol
madtrixter 09-03-2007, 07:08 PM I would get rid of the cheesmo antenna, looks a bit cheap on such a sick ride. Maybe intigrate it into the rear window or something.
SRT8IG 09-03-2007, 07:13 PM Different steering wheel with paddle shifters & 7-speed AMG transmission
GodfatherSRT8 09-03-2007, 07:36 PM flush door locks.
light around the key ignition
non squealing brake pads.
700 hp stock engine. :D wishful thinking i know.
kloeBear 09-03-2007, 07:57 PM where to start... I can only speak about the 08's in some case.
Power liftgate for sure
heads up display
flush doorlocks although I have a mod idea for this.
move the cruise control stalk.
rear windows that go all the way down
add subwoofer
trunk open from key fob
in pocket keyless push button start (whatever its called)
larger gas tank or better fuel management
Front seat that lowers a bit more.
More cargo room
cup holder heater/cooler
darker headliner
hid fogs
higher RES rear backup cam
Everything else is awsome!
T-Time 09-03-2007, 08:06 PM I wish you could turn on or off the backup camera with a switch.
Smaller wheel wells or different tire size to fill tirewell.

That's a good list!!!
gpfarrell 09-04-2007, 07:30 AM I really like that the tailgate window can be opened separately from the entire tailgate.
But even with the lowered SRT suspension, the bottom of the window opening is so high it's hard to reach any items on the floor of the cargo area.
I'm 6' and I've got long arms, so if I can't reach it I don't imagine many people can.
Otherwise, after 3 1/2 days I love it!
HoustonSRT-8 09-04-2007, 08:20 AM 8-way power adjustable passenger seat
6-speed Manumatic
DRE77 09-04-2007, 08:36 AM 6 speed transmission
500 hp
an antenna that better suits the design, better yet, no antenna all together!
Standard ipod connection
option to fully disable traction control
With or without these changes, I still love my ride!
SRT8Bob 09-04-2007, 09:29 AM One small but constant annoyance are the soft door detents. They are soft and therefore don't really stop the door and there are only two positions, half open and wide open. Almost every time I (or a passenger) get out the door swings shut on me (them). The Jeep engineers should try an Audi or Mercedes to see how they should operate, and how convenient three positions are.
Also, larger gas tank and the ability to program Nav on the go by a passenger. Maybe have a passenger seat interlock, but somehow allow it.--Bob
Larger gas tank.
6 speed.
Anti dust grabbing rear end.
More power! :D
pghpablacksrt8 09-04-2007, 11:25 AM Move the buttons for the programmable seat memory to somewhere else on the door.
The buttons are right where my knee rests and I am constantly pressing them with my knee while driving and getting the error message popping up on the dash...really freaked me out the first couple of times it happened.

+1 on the doors, what a pita! Totally agree with you, poor job of engineering.
mingoglia 09-04-2007, 12:52 PM Here's mine:
1) Autotilting rear view side mirros when you put it in reverse like my Navigator has (unless the Jeep has it but I haven't found the option yet).
2) Move the electric seat controls to the door or somewhere else. I have a hard time squeezing my hand between the seat and door.
3) REAR A/C, what they have now isn't rear A/C. I'm talking some vents in the roof and a seperate system that can be controlled seperately. This is important in the hotter climates.. although, I've actually been suprised at how well the current system works in 110 degree weather.
4) Put the 2 voice activation buttons on the steering wheel so you don't have to reach over to use them.
5) bigger fuel tank, like was mentioned.
6) Probably ditch the runflats and go with the fix-a-flat/air pump setup. Runflats are just a pain to get serviced, not to mention they do ride a bit rough.
7) A 2wd switch from the factory would be nice. My buddy Friday night did the best burnout I've ever seen first hand with his Charger SRT8. :)
8) This may be tough due to the void that's required for the rear axle, but having the ability to slide the rear seat back slightly for more legroom would be cool. In addition the ability to recline the back seat is nice as well....but I know this would require split seats in the back.
9) I'm wondering how the Jeep would look with a side exhaust very similiar to the Cayenne Turbo. This would allow for a removeable panel that hides a real 2" receiver behind it. I know the back was modeled after the center Viper exhaust and would ruin that... but I'd like to see some scetches of how it might look as this might be a nice tradeoff. Have you loaded a stroller yet while the vehicle is running because you live in 110 degree Arizona in the summertime? Yeah, it's hot on bare legs. ;) ...and with the hitch, I have a 1-ton dually to tow and a Cherokee doesn't make the best tow vehicle... but I know others would love to tow with it...without having to rely on a kludged hitch like some are doing.
10) More power is always nice!
Mike
SRT8IG 09-04-2007, 01:49 PM Funny, but if you add all comments, you'll come up with ML AMG or Cayenne:) Or pretty close...

The Jeep has this. I believe it's a feature that must be turned on by the dealer, though.

That's great news.... I'll ask my salesguy if he can bug the service guys about it...

jeepaholic 09-04-2007, 07:39 PM I would definitely change the interior. The all plastic panels look cheap. They should do something like the charger. It just looks unfinished.....

HAVE A REAR END THAT DOESN'T WHINE/AND OR MAKE NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A BETTER TRANSFER CASE AS WELL.

MIkePlease post if it is possible,I hate playing with that switch.I think I'll go NUTS if I curb a rim.
^^ it is possible on the 06 and 07's don't know about the 08's. I had the dealer do this on my 06 and love it. The only thing I would really change is the placement of the key. It should be recessed into the dash not protruding. I have accidentally shut the thing off with my knee on more than one occasion.

I just use my 2nd memory position. hahah wife is out of luck.
sbkim 09-05-2007, 03:55 PM Given it's current price, I think Jeep has plenty of nice features. But, to make it darn near perfect:
1. 500+HP engine - 6.4L should fix this
2. 6 speed auto w/ better highway gear. Please don't change ratio on 1st gear...
3. More color - bring back Inferno Red, add pearl white or nicer variation of silver.
4. Nicer interior - nothing too costly but just softer interior trims.
5. Get rid of nasty antenna - give us nice integrated look similar to one's in BMW
6. LED tailights - I mean $hit, even RAV 4's got them.
7. Keyless start - I presume this is in works for 2009
8. Tighter feeling steering + thicker steering wheel
9. Address all of the common issues - whinny rear end, leaky tranny/ coolant etc
10. Consider different runflats or non-run flats.
All this for under $50k MSRP or $45K invoice (LOADED) :D
bone-yard-racing 09-05-2007, 04:57 PM 6-speed manual
lower
A real tow hitch ( I want to drag the race cars around with my dream car)
Flat Black as a factory color
HoustonSRT-8 09-06-2007, 07:17 AM I just use my 2nd memory position. hahah wife is out of luck.
That's all good and well except you have to remove your seatbelt to change memory positions. I don't remember, but you may have to put it in park as well....
PALELLA 09-06-2007, 08:03 AM I'd make it not spray coolant all over the damn engine bay!
MD SRT-8 09-06-2007, 09:06 AM This is from a thread from about a year ago giving the instructiuns on how to activiate the rear tilt mirrors (with the "star scan"):
QUOTE:
"I copied this from an earlier thread. My dealer also had no clue on what to do. I printed this and showed them how:
The dealer will have to use DRB to enable this feature. I do not know what DRB stands for, but my dealer knew exactly what I was referring to when I mentioned the term. From what I understand, it is a small hand held computer type of device made specifically for interfacing with the ECU.
Have a service technician do the following with DRB:
- Navigate to the FCM screen
- Select "ECU Details"
- Select "More Options"
- Select "Reverse Tilt Mirror" feature (Current Status will read "Disabled")
- Select "Enable"
END QUOTE.
Thr DRB is really todays star scan, also I seem to remember that the location is really somewhere in the seat memory section, so the above might not be 100% accurate. (In the seat memory there would be an option for "reverse tilt mirror"

I'm actually kinda surprised this isn't an option that they allow us to turn on/off ourselves... you know, kinda like easy entry seat, horn beep when you lock the doors from the key fob, etc.

This is not the instructions for the starscan. When I had mine done they found it in the seat memory console or something similar to that. And I do not beleive it works on the 07's because of the backup camera
